Just bought this case to prepare for upgrading. It was the most decent looking one I could find with all these ridiculous looking gaming shit they are putting out now. Next upgrade is a GTX 1070 and a new monitor.

How long are you gonna stick with that cpu/motherboard/ram?
RM 750x
EVGA 1070 SC
16GB @ 3200MHz
H100i v2
Gigabyte Z270 Designare to trigger MSI shills
7700k @ 4.9GHz just to trigger the AMD shills
2 500Gb WD SSDs to trigger Samsung shills
Turn off LEDs before taking a picture.
This guy here, need help. Do I keep the EVGA powerlink or not? It was only $9 so I don't care if I ditch it. It's nice redirecting the cables since the only gpu cable I have is a split Y cable so the rest hangs down as you can see in this pic
I'm between EVGA 1070 and MSI Gaming X. From what I heard the EVGA is pretty loud and has coil whine, does yours have it? EVGA has good costumer support, but the MSI one is inaudible, which is just as important for me as performance.
Probably for as long as they are working. Once something fails I'll buy a new combo. Since they're running literally everything with no problems I'll keep them. Only thing that is really struggling to keep up is the 460, but I'll buy a 1070 next month. I'll also get another 4GB stick, so that'll be a triple channel 12GB.
Also, can you answer the question I've made above about EVGA's fans? I've heard from a lot of people they're pretty loud, and that they have absurd coil whine.
>Also, can you answer the question I've made above about EVGA's fans? I've heard from a lot of people they're pretty loud, and that they have absurd coil whine
That's hard to answer (I'm the guy with the evga 1080 btw). When I first got it, there were no issues. About 3 months in my card started running very hot (like 80+C) in normal gaming, and I considered RMA'ing it. I decided to replace the thermal paste first since that doesn't void EVGA warranty, and replaced it with gelid ec - extreme. Since then I have barely been getting above 65C and love it. So I think there may be quality control issues with their thermal paste, but under load it's not any louder than other 2 fan models I've seen. And from what I've seen, EVGA has amazing customer service. So although my card hasn't been perfect, I would purchase from them again
I've never heard it whine.
That's exactly the same as I've heard from other people. The cards got hot after a while and so did the fans become louder, and then came the coil whine. But as far as I remember these people didn't change the thermal paste, or they did but didn't notice any difference. Thanks for sharing your experience. Right now MSI's Gaming X is about 30 USD cheaper than EVGAs, at least in my country, so as long as it's cheaper I'll buy it even though I've always liked EVGA more, but their custom fans really suck. You should hear my 460 fans at full load, I can hear it with my headphones on, and from two rooms apart from mine as well, it's awful.
That's good. There was a lot of people complaining about it, at least when EVGAs SC and FTW cards came out.
Took a better pic.
The sideways mounted gpu shit is growing on me because cooling.
Nice. What GPU is this by the way?
Radeon RX Vega 64 Limited Edition
What case is this? I've seen some neat ATX cases, but I like the vertical mounts.
Loving the shroud and leds on it, makes my rx480 reference look plain lol.
Powerlink looks a lot cleaner
To be fair all Vega cards are limited edition, am I right?
...
Also less stress on the pcb with the upside down mounted bullshit.
>Someone out there literally bought an RX Vega 64
Amazing.

Thoughts?
delidding next week desu
It does what I need and was cheap.
Buy yourself a Xeon X5650 and a third stick of RAM.
I'd get the 5690, outperforms my FX-8350 which is insane, and costs the same on the second hand market for X58 owners.
>nintendo game characters
>weeb
lol k.
Corsair 540's a nice case.
>FX-8350
As long as it was cheap.
i am surprised at how powerful the 560 is
>fellow MSI-7893
Hi.
hello
if you are only running at 4 ghz like me you could try lowering the vcore even more .
Yeah this board is way to liberal with the volts at 1.384V [AUTO] for mine, does 4.4ghz stock but 1 core can freeze it, I know you can bump the voltage and overclock the tits off it but that's more heat.
Pretty good board imo.
i7 6850k
2x EVGA 1080 ti ftw3
950 pro 500 gb
32gb ddr4 3000Mhz
gpu water blocks soon
Custom cables, yes or no? I tried zip tying the pcie but it kept falling off. Also, should I get some better fans? The corsair quiet edition fans ironically get a little loud under high rpm because they're struggling to push much air. The led also gets drowned out by my case led.
Corsair fans are shit.
Noctua NF-F12 (or A14 if you want 140mm) or Akasa AK-FN059 (or AK-FN063 if you want 140mm) if you don't mind the colors.
Yeah I'd prefer them to color match. Those Aska fans would look real good with a Zotac gpu and a yellow theme btw.
>corsair is shit
>noctua f12 doesn't sound like a jet engine
>akasa isn't shit
Corsairs ML series 120mm fans are one the best there are right now, the rest of their line up is mediocre at best. Yeah, they cost a lot, but does Noctua. As for 140mm is probably a toss up between Thermalight (TY-143 for higher performance, TY-147 for silent operation) and Phanteks F140MP/SP.
Can't buy the corsair fans, since they don't sit against my shrouds/standoffs around the entire frame. Those ML fans seem very nice though.
If you need 120mm square frame fans for radiators you could checkout Darkside Gentle Typhoons or EK Vardars.
why are so many people using that awful corsair AIO
protip for the real watercooling
are you gonna add a rad, and where ?
Posting, same old same old
Im not adding a rad, with my current setup one rad feeds hot air into the other. after blocks Im going to move to a bigger case like a cooler master cosmos or a 900D. Both of those cases have the ability to mount radiators in a way that the air flow from one does not mix with the other.
My protip? knowing and planning. what you are in for. There is a lot of work maintaining a custom loop. Hard tubing is a little less of a hassle depending on your fluid. Soft tubing imo is a lot "safer". With compression fittings and soft tubing ive never had a fitting leak but, they do deteriorate over time. I set aside a day every three months where i clean my loop, flush it with DISTILLED water and white distilled vinegar , NO TAP WATER EVER!!! You need a whole day to clean, its a chore.
On the planning side, stuff like make sure all your fittings are using the same threads, the most common is G1/4. Make sure your fittings are for the same hose size , 1/2"OD. 3/4" ID,
OD = Outer diameter, ID inner. pretty much make sure you match sizes. A big thing is and I messed this up my first time is having a mixed metal loop. Its not bad to have a mix metal loop but some metal don't play well. Try to stick to copper and Nickel, they are fine to have in the same loop.
For fluid I use the EKoolent premix but you can use DISTILLED water, NO MINERALS!! if you use distilled water its smart use use a biocide like PT nuke or a silver Kill coil. they also make anti corrosives.
Water cooling is a chore and a Hobby.
check out JayzTwoCents, hes kinda nutty but hes a wealth of information on the topic.
kek, thanks mate I just saw I wrote protip, I meant kudos
I have my own custom water already, build the case myself (and never finished, that's why it looks awful, but functionality is there) pic related
for what it's worth I do agree with you on the whole
I prefer to use distilled water with biocide tho, all pre-made cooling liquids I've used in the past left residue after a while
is this dude actually good ?
I have a strong prejudice against youtube tech tests and advices
yes hes pretty good there are more but I like him.
Oh and lol I love helping out people, its fun.
its more to do with the camera settings and the LED itself my dude
even turned low, LEDs are intense pinpoints of light. throws off most auto camera functions.
its always on discount with a 5 year RMA and every youtuber gets a free sample to shill.
i always keep my old noctura around and a bunch of stock coolers just in case.
I'd say watercooling is about the only thing he's sort of good at.
>dat leadex

>480 gtx
do you cook your eggs on that overheating crap?
it's a 460
I'll get another stick of RAM, but I'm fine with the CPU. It won't bottleneck the GTX 1070, so there's no reason to buy a xeon atm.
If I were to buy one, that would be it. It's even cheaper than that right now in my country.
It's a 460, but yeah, it gets really hot. On ambient 25c it easily goes past 85c on full load, when it's really hot, about 33c it goes up to about 93c. Also, the fans are jet turbines, I can hear them from two rooms away from mine when they are at 100%.
I have that same case. Where do you have your HDDs installed? Mine are in the HDD drawers but they make too much vibration noise.
Next you're gonna tell me Disney characters are also weeb.
Mine are in the drawers too, but I haven't noticed any vibration from them. And they looked very firm when I put them there, as it was a very tight fit. You can also put them on the CD drive slots too if you like, there you can use screws if you're not comfortable about the possible vibration on the drawers.
Check out this video, it shows where you can put SSDs and HDDs.
youtu.be
Thanks famalam.
I'm talking about 3.5" disks though. I don't think I can put them on the CD drive slots.
i5 6600
Asus z170 mobo
8Gb DDR4@2133 Single-Channel
Zotac GTX 1050 Ti
WD Blue 1Tb and 300Gb
XFX 550W PSU
Oh shit, sorry. I didn't notice the video only says it's for SSD, I thought it could fit a HDD too.
You could try to put some sort of cushion where the drives touch the drawers to prevent the vibration noise. That's what I would try to do at least.
Yeah, I'm gonna try that.
>Hard drives mounted like something out of the 90s
>AC97 connector there too
What a throwback, what case is it?
>Have a six year old desktop I built
>Only really upgraded the GPU
>i5 sandy bridge, 1.5tb (I use a lot of externals), 8gb of DDR3 ram, pretty typical 2010-11ish
>The housing itself is a bit of a disaster; cable management is completely "SHOVE CABLES UNDER DRIVE BAY"
Is it worth the effort to migrate to a bigger housing? Should I simply build a new computer from the ground up? Can I mix any DDR3 ram with any existing ram? (I have parts laying around from various computers that I scrapped)
>tfw can't manage for shit
If you want to hang on for a while, get the 2600k, but stuff actually has improved enough on both AMD and intel for you to notice a difference from sandy bridge, so you'd see a speed increase building new.
Yeah, like so far I'm not actually hitting any problems with what I'm doing, but I'm at a good point in my life if I wanted to build or upgrade.
Cooler Master Elite 330. Bought one back in 2009.
If you've got the dough, do it, there are times in 2011 where we had money and I could've built something high end, didn't and wish i had later.
have the same mother board
GTX 1060 AMD 6300 bottlenecks for days
>6300
Ouch user, can you sell it and get a used 8350? it would help it along because it's the only way to get real performance out of the FX because the quad and six cores perform worse than an old phenom. luckily for me my card is super low end and won't bottleneck on shit.
Because it is not awful. Go back to your botnet NZXT shill.
At least Corsair fans don't look like literal shit.
>implying corsair isn't the world champion of hardware shilling
btw since I'm not a manlet I have a custom watercooling, none of that noisy under-performing AIO crap
there is literally no point in buying an AIO instead of a good air cooling
the 8350 preforms worse/on par with the phenom 2
it was a total disaster, dont replace it, cut your losses and save up for a new socket.
Yeah I forget that not everyone is into muh rendering.

You guys know that a single gtx 295 is 2 GPUs on a single board right? And that speccy reports each one individually?
Still. 4x gtx 280 chipsets is pretty sick.
Yes I know it's like a gtx 690 of way back when, but that heat.
