My WD external drive is not working, it happened suddenly when i forced a restart.

i've tried a lot of things and i'll post every information i have:

first of all, the HDD is an WD elements (like 4 yers more or less), internally its just a common HDD with sata conections and adapter to usb and power supply.

WINDOWS:
i cant find the disk in my pc, only i can see it trough device manager and disk management , as unknown device and uninitialized (ONLY WHEN IS CONECTED WITH SATA). when i try to initialize it, it shows me an error "the system cannot find the file specified". so i cant do anything else because i cant give it a letter, so i cant do SMART or use DOS in it

UBUNTU:
i tried using ubuntu to see if it was recognized, (a friend suggested me that) not recognized trough USB and SATA neither

Ultimate Boot CD:
someone in Sup Forums suggested this to do the SMART, and i used diagnostic tool for Western digital HDD, and isnt recognized either

CONCLUSSION:
its only recognized with windoes, but i cant initialize it, i cant give it a letter. and i dont understand why is recognized but i cant do anything for no reason.

i need more ideas to find some diagnostic or repair it.

PS: i already tried posting in /wsr/ but i need help from every person who can have any idea, i have lots of important things there...

install gentoo

didn't read

i've ever used linux, i will google to know how to install it, but i need more info of what to do with it

>"tried using ubuntu"
>"I've never used linux"
huh

>winblows 10
fucking retard

whatever, im just a person who doesnt want to mess with the things i buy, just use them, now i have a problem and im a noob, im not an engineer, i've ever had the necesity of being messing with dos codes. now that i have to, i need help, so pls dont insult me.

tl;dr lol

restore from latest backup

>mexican intellectuals
Your chinkdrive is probably faulty, put it in the trash

Well, you are fucking retarded for not safely ejecting a MECHANICAL DISK WHICH SPINS AND HAS MAGNETIC HEADS NEAR IT WHICH CAN FUCKING DESTROY YOUR DATA IF NOT PROPERLY CONTOLLED.
Have you tried formatting it with gParted? It should be pre-installed in Ubuntu.

this
you do backup your drives, right? riiight?

>whatever, im just a person who doesnt want to mess with the things i buy, just use them
>now i have a problem and im a noob

This means you're buying a new one. Learn to use tech or pay to replace it

>i forced a restart
Good job, retardo.

lmao kys cuck.

Not your personal tech support.

ubuntu doesnt recognize it

im just a noob, what do you think
i didnt think that i would need 2 HDDs to use one safely without worries.

surely i need a new one, wheter i can repair this or not. and i know how to use tech, but what would you do if the pc is restarting, for 10 mins, and doesnt shut down, and the disk led wasnt blinking, so it wasnt being read or something.

anyways i dont need more "you're a noob" coments, i know it, and im paying for it, i need help. the important data is not mine, and i feel guilty for it.

And Windows? Doesn't give you a format option? Does the PC's BIOS recognize it? Should state a name or something. Have you tried CrystalDisk Info?

Does logs say something when you connect the drive? Check and post what it say. Maybe you need a pcb replacement

>but what would you do if the pc is restarting, for 10 mins, and doesnt shut down, and the disk led wasnt blinking
I'd probably just off myself because I'm so shit at computers.

cant format because istn initialized, cant give it a letter, so crystaldisk doesnt work neither.
the BIOS does recognize it
the max info i have about the state is what i show in the photo in the first post. its only an unknown detected hard disk that cant be initialized

try Testdisk.

doesnt recognize it, only the SDD that i have for windows, and the HDD for data, not the external

i'm sorry but you have to understand that your drive is rekt.

changing the components of the disk could help? i mean things like the circuit board or the usb adaptor, with same model ones

sorry lad, I know the feel of losing a disk. it's like losing the family dog.

try testdisk again without the hdd enclosure. it may just be the usb interface that is fried

its already connected via SATA

well...
you can do that by paying a lot of money to specialists. It may or may not work. If you're rich give it a shot...
