If there were a version of Windows with no telemetry, no DRM, no bloatware, an efficient update system that doesn't force you to reboot, and it were back to running on top of DOS, THEN would you people use it?
Why or why not

Go away, Microsoft. REAL developers are talking here right now and you're distracting them.
>THEN would you people use it?
Probably, but we both know that will never happen, so why make a thread about it?
fuck off, pajeet
arogant n hypocrite. sit down. being fat doesn't make you a better developer
>no telementry
>no bloat
>updates that don't force you to reboot
you mean windows 7?
I'm using it now, it's called Windows 7
Maybe one day though. It would mean even more money. Right now Windows only has the tech-illiterate majority, if they made this move they'd once again have literally everyone. They wouldn't have to release it as THE next version; that would probably be a bad move. Instead, they could release it as an offshoot version, ALONGSIDE "Andromeda" or whatever, idk call it "enthusiast edition" or something
it is called loonix
windows is sold to people who does not care what os they run, no one seeks out windows for its sake
once bitten twice shy, MS and all the other do no evil companies are on borrowed time running on corruption
Windows 2000 is what you're looking for
>no DRM
I wonder, it's us who think that DRM is bad, but what about normies? They wouldn't notice anything if the system has DRM because the system plays the multimedia they want.
No, because it's not open source. There's no way to confirm that the telemetry, DRM, and bloatware are even removed if it is closed source.
Version of Windows with opt-in telemetry (telemetry on itself isn't bad, but forced telemetry is) and ability to disable features would be enough.
You don't get it. You're trying to satisfy people who are completely unreasonable and don't want to be satisfied.
Most of the C# developer and tool stack is FOSS, but you still get people repeating the decades-old "E.E.E." meme that isn't even applicable anymore.
Take everything on Sup Forums with a grain of salt, and understand that Sup Forums is a thinktank for alternative ideas, and many of the people virtue signaling their ideals here are practicing the opposite of what they preach.
Normies don't care about DRM unless it is intrusive. For example, iTunes, Netflix, and Steam's DRM are all seen as non intrusive to normies. Something like Denuvo, Silverlight, or Flash are intrusive and seen as bad. We know that all DRM is bad.
Everything I post is 100% serious
Do all that and then GPL it, and I'd consider it.
Windows 2000. People will say XP, but XP had a universal backdoor and was just 2k with all the bloatware added from ME + a tard-friendly fisher price theme.
>and it were back to running on top of DOS
Noone wants this. 9x had some of the worst stability in any Windows product, "90s kids" might nostalgia over it but I had to regularly lose work because of one of 98's many daily crashes.
>no telemetry
>no bloat
>no forced reboots
>7
>inb4 you can turn it off
you can turn it off in 10 too, it still has a shitty default that doesn't respect the user
If communism justwerks™ then would you do it /thread
how do you avoid the bundled updates which include telemetry?
Probably, I still use windows 7.
xp is the same as 2k, especially when you take the 64bit capability and the dx9 in
Literally this. Windex is a cheap and easy sexbot daddy Microshekels gives you to keep you a stupid goy and from going out and finding a real flesh and blood woman to have a meaningful relationship and future
>inb4 wew lad, don't talk about my loli sexbot slave that scrubs the smegma and dried cum out of my 200lb leg rolls
I bet you use a fackin macncheese, disgusting waste
>>inb4 wew lad, don't talk about my loli sexbot slave that scrubs the smegma and dried cum out of my 200lb leg rolls
>dried cum
don't worry, it's not mine
i swear to god ive never seen this dialog in my entire life outside of Sup Forums, thats probably because updates are disabled by default
The settings and UI is still a clusterfuck. Not to mention appx/uwp apps are garbage.
i avoid updates
Why don't you just use temple os
>having to run an unsecure OS because updates will make the gubbermint spy on you

Abandon NT kernel, NTFS, and registry, and then maybe.
my pc still works, and updates are shit anyway. they always patch vulnerabilities after half of the world is infected anyway
Exactly this, fuck going back to 9x. That garbage was how windows earned it's reputation as being unstable garbage.
>and it were back to running on top of DOS
Was good until this part. You really have no clue how Windows do you?
