JavaScript was a mistake

JavaScript was a mistake

Question:

With service workers coming - is this bitcoin mining heaven and hell?

>5000 users
>$25 a day
hmmm... this much you'd earn via adsesne too I'd guess.

Isnt there a more efficient way than using JS? What about webassembly or whatever its called..

month

thats fucking nothing..

what about this WebCL remark below? does it work or?

If this mean website can generate revenue without spamming ads and stealing data I'm all for.

Oh, and since you Americans let DRM in HTML happen this will be inevitable.

The coin-hive one uses webass and it's still a slow piece of shit.

>Without ads and stealing data
The pirate Bay is one website they aren't setting precedent for shit. I expect others to follow suit with the spammy ads and stealing your data.

>To download this file you need to complete X hashes. This process has automatically started and the file download will begin once it finished.

Future's so bright I don't even need eyes to see it.

damn boy, that might actually work, specially for illegal content

and its better than ads.

I'd much rather mine bitcoins for someone else in a horribly inefficient manner than see some gay ads.

10minutemail was using this the other day, but it looks like it's gone now. I don't think this is going to catch on.

There probably is more efficient ways than js, wasm isn't ready for the spotlight.
Which is actually where kim's new venture comes into play, by focusing on exceptionally small microtransactions of bitcoin (relatively anonymous), users can access content of all types without ad malware, popups everywhere, etc. It's pretty brilliant 2bh, but I suspect a lot of people are going to kick and scream about it for months and we just wind up in the same current mess we are now where ad industry/jewgle runs everything.

too inefficient.. maybe once people get better hardware or smthing like that.

*blocks your path*
Pssh. Nothing personal, kid.

>2011

Perhaps it is much higher now?

>download an copy of Adobe (R) Photoshop (TM)
>you are free to use it without a paid license/subscription as long as you let their miner work in the background, using up one of your CPU cores or part of your GPU

Where can i get the code?

1. open the OPs image
2. github link right in it

seems impractical. how long does someone actually stay on a webpage anyway? maybe a few seconds. a minute tops. at that rate people would be leaving before the miner had time to even do anything.

only way i see this being practical is on sites like facebook or instagram where normies spend hours jerking off to thots all day.

How can people prefer this to ads? I'd rather look at an annoying picture then keep my cpu or gpu running full throttle while browsing

Your computer is not doing anything worthwhile anyway.

>*blocks you js from some shady third party site*
>page doesn't work
Nothing personal kid

Bullshit. I train neural nets using CUDA, I'm not going to calculate hash to browse the Internet. People complain the Web is too bloated with js but rather run miners then look at ads

Why do you train neural nets on your home/work computer? Use a dedicated server.

That runs server-side not client side. The reason they're using JS is because you can embed it into a webpage and virtually guarantee that nearly every computer will have JS enabled.

Should me where I can get a good GPU on the cloud for a reasonable price. GCP uses kepler for fucks sake.

Is that image by meito? I haven't seen that one yet...

>More and more sites include js miners to pay the bills
>People are now not only learning to use adblockers, they also start using noscript/umatrix
>Google starts losing ad money to this shit
>Chrome work slower because of the extra load from the JS, which may prompt users to try other browsers (even if they're all affected)
>Google is unwilling to lose both ad money and chrome market share, starts detecting and blocking these scripts
>All other browser makers do the same

You can bet even ad networks will join the war against the js miner.

>webassemly
>runs server-side
No it doesn't you retard.

But either way, WebCL is going to be the best for this

Nevermind, I was thinking of CGI.

what if they do both?

You know they will. The only thing better than money is more money.

AWS or Azure

can we block it ?

It's shit like this that makes people block JS and makes the web worse for everyone else as a result.

Fuck whomever made this.

Disable javascript you dumb motherfucker

well shit many website is unusable without it just fuck me

Wait until Hiro implements on here. You must complete x hashes before you can post.

I'm sure 8ch will appreciate the increase in traffic.

>Implying Sup Forums is not a global secret service communication site
You are only here so the information can be hidden in plain sight. Chinkmoot is not authorized to make the site shit

I need to stop ignoring comments in code.

Webassembly is faster. The issue being that it still runs on your CPU. Miners usually offload work to the GPU. WebCL is going to be the most efficient way to go about this.

Why was moot allowed to then? The least the government could do is pay the bills so we don't have to deal with the captcha. Like they did for playpen.

removing the captcha would make Sup Forums unusable. Endless spams and threads reaching bump limit before they can be read

smart

have someone attempted to do that with webgl

We all know it was moot spamming. He wanted an excuse to implement the captcha so he could jew people into passes. That's why he never had any money problems after.

Have you visited the web without adblock recently? Sup Forums runs okay, but the normie web will peg a CPU core the entire time you're browsing.

||coin-hive.com^

this will block it, r-right onii-chan?

Most people don't really "learn" to use adblock, they just install it and then leave it without tinkering with it in any way.

However, if jsminer does get popular, people will adapt to umatrix/ noscript.

Someone could always have a miner js file on site. Blocking all javascript and whitelisting is the only certain course of action.

uBlock Origin blocks it by default.

Shouldn't the miner use some characteristic functions/methods? I would rather block those

This will replace ads, so isn't that a good thing?

wtf i hate GPUs now

Probably it does but it is something over what uBlock has been designed. Maybe a userscript could work. Another more general approach could be using an addon that monitors script cpu usage and if one spikes off to kill it. Something like 'unresponsive script' implemented into browsers already.

Why would it replace them instead of supplement them?

Because crypto currency is becoming more of a thing and with more powerful computers can mean better ways of funding a website than with ads.

> Yesterday I was trying to download an album
> Page says ? must wait 9.30 minutes
> Let the page open
> In the status bar I red something like retrieving data from "coin-hive.com"
> CPU get's too fuckin' hot
> Muh Chinkpad fan spins too fast.
> Close that tab.
> Chinkpad returns to normality

Where I can get a good Hosts File?

This is huge. This is a solution to the website ad problem. I have six cores on my PC, I would gladly donate some computing power while I browse the website. This would also encourage quality content: have content that makes me want to stay on your website.

Time to get one of the javascript toggle plugins.

This, this will also kill off google since google can't possibly make a monopoly off this

>spend $100 in electricity to CPU mine $0.01 of buttcoins

If I ran the javascript miner for 10,000 minutes, it would not generate $25, it would generate $0.83

Nevermind I see it says $25/month not $25/day

Brave blocks miners already. Firecucks get rekt.

>WebCL is best
>it has 0 browser support

Does WebGL not do the same thing as WebCL? It has full browser support

>Sunday, June 5 2011
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
So this shit's been around for 6 fucking years and it never worked because the WebCL devs just gave up

Isn't this a horribly inefficient way to mine coins though?

it'd be pretty neat if you had the option to literally pay for things just by leaving the order page open for a certain amount of time

The G and C mean very different things. Graphics vs Compute.

...

Just a reminder but if you go on pol and click the unvis.it links nordbot posts, it uses the coin-base miner.

users
>>$25 a day
>hmmm... this much you'd earn via adsesne too I'd guess.
More like $0.10 every other day

they will have both ad and coin mining for maximum shekel also coin mining seem to not as profit as ad

What about javascript bitcoin mining ads?
Each add on a webpage could have exclusive rights to 1 of your threads. This was they take advantage of the full potential of each visitors machine!
