How do you feel about that while Google and Apple talk about investing in healthcare, but only end up making glorified pedometers and heart rate monitors, Samsung has gone ahead and built a massive $5B biologics (vaccines, most newer cancer drugs, immune system therapies) factory?
Samsung Biologics is already manufacturing all biologics for Bristol-Myers Squibb (4th largest pharma in the U.S.), and is in talks to manufacture all future biologics for Novartis and Roche.
Samsung is also researching its own new biologics products and has allocated billions of dollars to drug discovery and clinical trials.
>going into big pharma business to fleece every last little hting from an old dying person to leave their children with nothing or a massive debt >is a good samaritan
I never implied such thing.
Gavin Torres
it makes me feel that this board is infested with underage cretins who don't know what a chaebol is
Elijah Ross
Samsung Electronics is the largest shareholder.
If it was yet another side business, they would have made Samsung Life Insurance, which is the money bag company of Samsung chaebol, the largest shareholder.
Jose Taylor
Makes me feel that biologics is a stupid word
Aiden King
Biological medicines, user. As opposed to chemical ones.
Nathaniel Carter
>chaebol Is south korea the most /cyb/ nation?
Alexander Baker
Why were Zaibatsus dissolved but not Chaebols? They're both puppets of the United States after all, why the different treatment?
Sebastian Murphy
That already has a name Biological medicines Biologics is definitely a stupid word
Evan Phillips
>biologics I hate that drug companies have spread this meme word
Elijah Watson
A corporation that controls an entire nation and supplies most jobs and services now has labs.
Wow what a surprise
Hunter Perry
And yet, Apple made more profit this year than any and all of samshit combined.
Aaron Bailey
Chaebols didn't really exist during the U.S. military administration of South Korea.
William Martin
Samsung also has their own fucking naval fleet, but I still don’t give a shit
Joshua Howard
Yup. Korea is essentially run by 4 corporations that keep the island afloat, figuratively speaking. Saumsung, Lotte, LG, and Hyundai. Without these giants, Korea would be unable to sustain itself. The RoK is in reality just a host nation for these corporations.
Tyler Moore
You forgot Naver and Kakao.
Naver completely controls the web media while Kakao controls the smartphone messaging and online banking.
Julian Flores
Soooo... does it make me racist to not support these companies? God, I hope so
Asher Martinez
You're right. I actually did forget, but probably because those two are "new guard", compared to the other 4 being "old guard".
Gavin Russell
So, Samsung, LG - electronics amd many other things Lotte - food Hyundai - heavy industries and transports Naver - internet Kakao - banks and telecommunications Well at least their oligopoly is working at the moment.
Christopher Davis
>Without these giants, Korea would be unable to sustain itself.
That's a myth. When one falls, another springs up to take up its space and become just as cancerous as the one it replaced.
See also: collapse of Daewoo chaebol in the early 2000s due massive accounting scandal, and Lotte subsequently growing to become even more cancerous than Daewoo ever was.
Jason Russell
Lotte is also into real estate and retail.
Hudson Barnes
Samsung has a lot of stuff. Phones aren't even their main business. They build skyscrapers, cars, ships, fucking tanks and so on. So this is no surprise. They have their hands in everything.
Adrian Diaz
Sooi This. And also Koreans were occupied, not occupants. The US dismantled the zaibatsu because they were Nazis not because they had a monopoly.
Luke Myers
>Kakao >caco >MACACO SOPA DE MAKAKAO UMA DELICIA
James Bailey
It doesn't change my opinion of Samsung Electronics.
Evan Edwards
samsung = chinks and pajeets
at least google and apple are run by normal people
