I really like macOS font rendering
I can see why some would not like though
that's pretty nice
here's an update with the firefox menubar fixed.
Chromium has sharper looking fonts i believe
Arch Linux.
This is what perfection looks like.
Font rendering? That's your reason to use an OS?
Functionality > aesthetics every time. MacOS has crap security and crap for package management (it has to use third party for fuck's sake).
what's the difference here exactly?
>"and" at the end of the line
DROPPED
>MacOS has crap security
pfffffffffffffft LMAO
also
brew.sh
can do everything linux can :^^^^)
>using a font named San Francisco
Enjoy your AIDS
very nice
mac rendering is blurry
>Homebrew collects user behaviour data and reports it to Google Analytics.[15]
wew lad
It is named after a faggot forgery
Ok, i get that mac has good font renderin (not that i have a lot of experience with apple's devices but i'm assuming it's true), however i don't see the point in involving linux here. Even if your linux-based OS of choice don't ship good font rendering by default (usually DIY distros like arch or gentoo or barebones distros), you can tweak the font rendering as much as you like. Also if we assume someone is invested enough, that people has access to the source code, they can modify it until they like it. Talking about other operating systems, what i had never managed to do is to make windows' font rendering look good. If someone want to share info about that please share because it's terrible.
I didn't notice any difference on the fonts posted itt am I retarted
>watchOS
>tvOS
these must be the most retarded names aplle ever created
ohhhh my god its giving me a boner
g-github link?
h-here's my windows 8....
>stalled

Impressive.
Let's see paul allen's font.
But I only have a 1080p monitor
jesus, that's really super, how did a nitwit like you get so tasteful?
cleartype for comparison
still no games
check mate dick eaters
Can we lincucks steal this font somehow?
Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh, my God. It even has a watermark.
github.com
extract ttfs to your font folder and refresh
turn off font smoothing. It's counter productive on the retina screen.
Is something wrong Patrick? You're sweating
Don't like the font, letters are too squished.
Font rendering? In MY Windows?
DELETE THIS
Win7
KDE Neon
looks like shit
why is it so narrow
Impressive. Very nice.
It's only for menus
That user could be the reason I consider Windows a serious OS again.
I have a server unironically running a wamp stack at work kek
Eh, I've tried it both on and off and I prefer it on my 5k. Though the difference isn't as noticeable then non-retina screens, it still looks better to me.
Pajeet
There is a slight difference, but only slight.
OS X has stronger font smoothing than Windows or most X11 setups by default. Before displays reached a higher DPI as is common today, this improved readability on LCD displays for many people, as the fonts would have a more "natural" look than the jagged and stilted representations of Windows or X11 font display. Today, with improved font anti-aliasing and better displays, this is usually not needed, but it usually does not detract from reading either, and some people like the smoother look anyway.
t. scanlator
I'm not saying I would replace Linux, only consider using Windows more (I use it only for vydia now).
It's at like 500% DPI scaling.
Not big deal
Opensuse Tumbleweed
What do people running Arch do to improve rendering?
Will Windows ever get bearable font rendering by default?
Fucking Pajeet's ridden company.
>people being surprised at fonts rendering over 15pt
every font rendering thread
1366x768. 15.3in
OS: 4.13.2-gentoo kernel using OSX2 infinality profile
Being this new.
Why do JP fonts in the browser in linux look so aliased? Doesn't matter which font I use.
frnakly the i3 is a little clearer
There's something calles mactype for windows but I'm not sure if it's still getting updates.
gdipp still works. I'm on build 1703.
>san francisco
of course faggots would call it this
>2017
>we can make augmented reality jellyfish but can't make an aa font look as good as a bitmap
A font named after a disgusting hive of faggotry and communism? no thanks.
The only reason computer fonts even look nice is because steve jobs liked cartography and thought type was very important.
>Steve Jobs
>Cartography
Fuck your blury fonts.
When is Firefox going to merge the title bar?
There is an extension to merge it.

How do I uncuck my fonts in fedora?
It's fucking painful, especially okular
>MacOS has crap security
yes
don't be pussies, go monospace
...
People care about font rendering enough to rule out operating systems when they all have legible text with default settings?
More games than Linux
Mac type development has actually been picked up again and iirc there have been three updates this year.
linux has more games on steam than mac does
I checked before posting that comment, you're wrong
Windows: 35797
Mac: 13632
Linux: 8051
you forgot super tux racer
I can't believe you autists still argue over font rendering of all things
/thread
This is the worst meme ever. I'm using Sierra as my main OS and the font rendering is horrible compared to Linux. At least Monaco is one of the few fonts that looks amazing without antialising.
The only reason this meme exists is the hi-res "retina" displays making font-rendering obsolete. Apple's approach is to make the fonts thicc af and ugly af if seen on anything else than retina. Using a "medium" variant of a font on Linux looks better on my macbook than actual MacOS.
OS X and Windows both have that
