Microsoft Edge

Is it just a meme like IE or do people unironically use this garbage?

I use it for certain sites that are finicky. Sort of like how you had a few sites that used to only be compatible with IE6

Is this just a meme or do people unironically use this garbage

>Microsoft Edge

...

Edge is actually a pretty capable browser. Its got a bad rep because it shares the icon with IE but its a totally separate codebase.

Edge is definitely a step in the right direction but I still prefer chrome

Damn, I didn't know I was getting a $25 value's worth in every day

I found out pretty quick after my parents got the first month's bill. They downgraded me to a $5 a month internet connection that only supported Lynx.

One time my local line was busy so I switched to long distance to send one email, then left it for the rest of the month. They wanted 12 hundred dollars at the end of the month. I think we refused to pay and argued with them and apologized.

haha, I remember those days very well. Did you use BBSes before the internet was in your area? There was a kid in my school that ran one with 4 nodes, we would play LORD and chat after school.

Using a closed source browser for all your internet needs is kind of like having sex with a girl who answers "I don't want to say, let's just do it ok?" when you ask if she has any STDs. It might be fine but it's pretty fucking suspicious.

I tried using it seriously, but I just can't use it over chrome. edge is just not as responsive and snappy, sometimes a page that's loading will freeze, reading "(not responding)" and edge can't play webm's on Sup Forums that I need to watch sfm porn.

Such a fucking shitty browser. No search function for history, can't easily duplicate tabs, breaks in 1/10 websites. It's just bad.

Yeah, but is Microsoft really the kind of company that would have STDs?

Are Sup Forums users a meme, or is there a thinking human somewhere in there?

on a windows 10 pad in tablet mode desktop versions of Chrome and Firefox are unuseable

Eh, I've been using their products since Dos 5.0. Every time they release something new people screech about it. Windows 95 was the worst.

>edge is just not as responsive and snapp
This. MS is obsessed with a "smooth" and touch based experience with Edge
Couldn't care less about pretty UI and animations. I just want a fast browser with functionality for getting shit done

I thought people liked GUIs?

I really don't see the hate for this, I guess its just the Microsoft hate circlejerk

There was a huge backlash when Win95 came out because gaymen worked so much better in DOS. I always bought the DOS version until it was no longer an option.

Return to reddit if you don't like it, Rajesh.

not an argument

Its pretty OK. Not my primary choice at all, but I wouldn't get mad at an older person who decided to use it.

>the current state of Microsoft Edge

I'm totally not a robot desu

>not an argument
Neither is calling criticism you don't like a "Microsoft hate circlejerk"

>motherless
MODS.

is this common? it just happened to me a few hours ago

It was a thread last night

>not watching amatuer porn labelled FATHER FUCKS DAUGHTER AND STEPMOM

it pretty much is a circlejerk, Ive never seen someone critique it besides "its Microsoft so its automatically bad XDDDDDDDD"

It's easy to hate Microsoft when you're a NEET who doesn't need a descent office suite that other people can read files from and you don't work, so you don't have to deal with corporate IT that requires a Microsoft browser to access anything they provide.

erm thats why people hate MS because of their propreitary shitty standards

I'm not in IT, I'm just a filthy casual. I'm just assuming that Microsoft has set it up so that corporate IT can keep things standard and secure across multiple platforms. Apple hasn't, you need their device to be in their ecosystem. Linux is a meme that 2% of people use to shitpost on Sup Forums. Just thinking out loud. What does that leave?
Also, at the place I work we have a lot of legacy applications that needed old hardware/OSs to be used. We tossed our last Win 3.11 machine a few years ago and we still have more than a few on NT. It's just the way the world works.

This board has always been like this.
Don't come to Sup Forums to just complain because we're not welcoming you with open arms.

I use it when I'm trying to save battery on my laptop. Definitely crappier than chrome, but also definitely uses less power

I have all its icons remove yet somehow it keeps forcing itself to become the default application to open all my office documents and pdfs.

It's crap. Sites always seem to break whenever I have to use it.

pros
>supports extensions, namely ublock origin and tampermonkey
>financial backing of a fortune 500 company
>supports most shitty IE only sites.
>Marketing likes to jack off over low power usage, so it's a leader in that
>built in pdf support (so now ever copy of windows can open a pdf without having to download something extra)
>First to push the async/await esnext feature, where firefox/chrome had to play catchup
>first party OS support
>optimized for touch
>features like thumbnail view and tab groups
>faster (based on Octane and JetStream)

cons
>No profile sync
>Not every site cares about Edge's small market share, so they don't check compatibility in it.
>User agent lies so that websites won't bucket it in with IE.
>You know it's built on shitty pajeet code. Closed source + close ties to OS = eventual edge targeted drive by malware that'll get full access to the OS.
>mobile edge is a gimped joke
>history and download UI sucks

I still use chrome over it, but half the time I'll launch edge too. I generally have no problems.

I tried using Edge, but it kept fucking up on a few sites, so back to the drawing board with it.

The better question is what returns an investment of a web browser development?
Everybody wants thwir owm chromium fork and Microsoft keep beating the IE dead horse.

Why?

nigga ROOT_TROJAN is some serious shit pay up

I use it, it's nicer than the alternative

Edge is just IE with a mullet.

I use it for netflix/prime video, because chrome's DRM doesn't support 1080p, unlike Edge.

Well, it's a slight better alternative than Internet Explorer. I still use Firefox anyway.

I've always thought Win95 was basically MS-DOS with a GUI on top.

Lol, no one uses lelnopo.

>no Sup Forums webms
