first for overpriced membrane keyboards

>For law enforcement only
I thought there was nothing against folding stocks as long as the barrel is longer than 18.5 inches?

Everytime I look at this piece of shit I'm reminded how dumb and ignorant I was. It feels wasteful to buy another mechanical switch keyboard but I hate having to look at this garish Christmas tree every time my computer boots up.

I was thinking of getting a board from wasd and coloring it to look similar to gun posting op's keyboard. Nearly everything on my desk is black anyway so I might even get their backlit code instead and replace the blank OS key with a Linux one.

Maybe, I'm posting to ask for suggestions.

Can you disable, change or subdue the LEDs on that keyboard? Surely it's not permanently locked in christmasmode. It would go a long way to derice it.

Maybe it's set up so that your lighting settings reset every power off unless you download the Corsair malware.

I turn the backlighting off doing boot as soon as I can. It has nothing to do with software, the LEDs starting to break only a few months after owning it. I tried to file a return from the manufacturer but couldn't find a simple phone number to call it didn't want to give them my email. Now it's too late. I bought that thing less than a month after my cat died in it caused me to make a terrible purchasing decision.

that was about 2 years ago. I hate having backlighting I can't use and I really miss having a numpad. I'm not even sure if I care about having backlighting. . .

Why not just sell it on eBay or something? I'm sure some idiot with shit taste will buy it, and just spend that money on a keyboard that actually makes you happy? Better to just lose a little bit of money and invest in something you'll actually enjoy.

just get a filco and call it a day
mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1823
Or if you are poor getting something cheap like a Ducky with PBT keycaps

torn between buying 55g topres and being a smart boy who doesn't fall for memes

Think of all the keycaps you CAN'T put on a topre

My feeble attempt at trying to be as cool as OP.

I know people can be stupid but who's going to buy a RGB keyboard with broken LEDs and no disk to install the software needed to control the back lights? By the way, I haven't even begun to explain what a terrible keyboard This is. It needs to hold USB ports to work and doesn't work in the Bios. I don't think I like Cherry MX Reds that much either. Blues helped a lot nicer but they were too loud. I could hear them through my headphones are playing games. I like having some feedback noise but they went beyond that.

> no numpad
> overly loud Blue switches
> Windows logo
I appreciate your recommendation but I can already see how this keyboard could annoy me.
By the way this is what my desk looks like now. Ignore the mouse pad, I'll replace that as well someday. It's all a work in progress. The only color is from the mouse RGB light and three amiibo figures on top of my gaming console. Kind of like it this way.

nigga you retarded. just get the full size ones with whatever switch you want

>overly loud Blue switches
>Concerned about windows logo when that's easily changed with a mod keyset.
They have other options dunkass. Get cherry clears or gateron tactile variants.
And get a separate numpad. It really has no business being on the right side of a keyboard. Or buy a full keyboard, every major company has numerous models.

Is there any noticeable difference between cherry reds and browns?

yes, browns are noticeably and annoyingly scratchy

reds it is then

Bought a used keyboard with the gaelic layout, man I feel dumb but it's only marginally different than standard qwerty and it's was dirt fucking cheap. Offset capslock key aside that killed any chance of replacing these low profile keycaps...

Make sure they're new produciton/RGB housing, old reds are just as noticeably and annoyingly scratchy - Source: I bought a Filco Minila Air with reds recently and they're awful compared to new production Silent Blacks.

>get a separate numpad
could you explain why? Once I upgrade my CPU I plan to play Dwarf Fortress at my desk instead of my laptop. A numpad is almost mandatory for that game. clear switches sound like the middle ground. I want and I have months to decide on what keyboard I want to replace my current one with. I want to upgrade the rest of my computer first.

I should mention that I'm not willing to spend more than $200 on a new keyboard. That includes aftermarket keycaps. It's very tempting to go for a black and white color scheme that would remind me of my cat. I really miss my cat.

I think I have issues.

>RGB housing
???
I'm not a l33t gaymer

I only say that because an RGB housing is a guarantee of the switch being new production, otherwise you're going to have to ask the seller/manufacturer how recently the switches were made.

>the function keys are also multimedia keys

don't listen to that user. you should never buy a keyboard that is missing a bunch of keys just because some autists meme about it on an anime forum

What switches?

w2c shotty?

Looking to buy an Anne Pro for using on my iPad/Steam Link, where's the best place to buy keycaps from in Australia?

Has anyone got one of those 'force curve graphs' for rubber dome actuation for comparison with MX/Topres?

aliexpress/banggood

thankyou

I have a Ducky Shine Zero TKL and feels fantastic to type on but every 1 in 20 keypresses doesn't register at all and around the same amount ends up repeating itself. WTH is wrong with my keyboard?? its frustrating as hell and I end up using a £3 board I got from asda most of the time as its an absolute pain to have to go through every thing i write and correct all the mistakes. Ive tried playing with the typematic rate but it dosnt appear to have helped at all other than when the keypress repeats it repeats more.

What is Sup Forums's opinion on mechanical keyboards that look like typewriters? Is it okay to buy the keyboard from the link or should I prefer the classic keyboard design?
>Example: amazon.com/dp/B06ZZ3X3P5/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_k0GYzbVDT5359

Why is it called tenkeyless when they are missing more than ten keys?

Awful, can't even imagine having to type on one of those for any period of time, but to each their own.

Because the numpad is also referred to as a tenkeypad because it has all ten digits. Don't think too hard about it.

Well it should be referred to as seventeenkeyless

Are those BB guns?

Personally I'd prefer something short and sweet, like calcless or numless.

Full keyboards should be refereed to as work keyboards, TKL as leisure keyboards.

Recommend me a comfy switch. I have a 60% MX Green board because I fell for the "heavy being better" meme and it turns out I prefer lighter switches, and Cherry's scratchiness is shit.

Gateron Reds/Blacks with o-rings, variable/35/45g topres, or rubber dome

Sup Forums should I get a keyboard from WASD Keyboards or should I get filco majestouch2?

Buckling springs, topre, alps/matias

>feeble
lel

I've had this keyboard for a couple months now. I really like it.
The weird thing is, is that it was only £50, and I never hear them mentioned.
Also weird, is that it looks almost identical to the one in the OP (and a few other ones I've seen around, specifically Filco boards).
Now, I've never seen one of these Filco boards in real life, but they seem almost identical, and I can't imagine the quality could be much better since it's so great on this board.

Forgot to say what board it is. Rosewill RK-9000V2 with blue switches. Would have liked Browns, but they seem to have disappeared off the planet.

those keycaps suck do
not because of the color but for the fact that its incomplete

I agree. They were only £6, and the plastic is horrible. Looking into getting a new set, honestly the only reason I haven't is because I haven't seen one I particularly like.

I actually have a Matias Quite Click board, but the key chatter and constant double inputs put me off from using it.

Matias switches can be disassembled: try open them and clean them thoroughly.

What keyboard is that? And and those the Tai-Hao Miami keycaps?

Found a topre realforce se170 87ub for £150
Is this a good price? Should I go back to the shop and try it out?

>budget
around 150€
>location
Finland
>switch type
cherry mx blue
>layout
US or FI, ISO or ANSI doesn't matter
>form
100%
>backlight
no
>previous keyboard
irrelevant, I don't like it

Filco Majestouch 2
Ducky One
In alternative, since you want a clicky switch
Unicomp
IBM Model M

Perhaps it's worth trying the brown switches. I prefer blues myself but I have a board with brown switches that I use a lot since I always use that one when I'm not alone. It's got the same tactile bump as blues so you get some feedback but it doesn't have the clicking sound. And they are as good as quiet with o-rings on the keycaps.

If you want to sell your keyboard, btw, you can but I guess you'll have to cut the price somewhat. Be honest about the RGB lights being broken in the advertisement so you don''t get bugged or asked for a refund later. Someone will buy it just because it's a mechanical keyboard, if you just want one cheap and you don't care about back-light then it would probably be fine.

You should also know that there is free GNU/Linux software for Coirsair keyboards on github so it's easy to have the lights turn off early in the boot process.

The stock was only sold to Law Enforcement as a part of riot-gun configuration 870 Wingmaster police shotguns during the 60s. They command up to $200 on the market and they're pretty gucci on 870 Police Magnums. Speaking of which...

That is a gorgeous goddamn 870, especially the condition of that stock - it's like new. Mine's pretty beat but hey, $70. Is it an actual older Wingmaster or a modern 870 police?

>separate numpad
That's just silly, it's as silly as those man-let tenkeyless keyboards. I am guessing you never ever do any real work in a spreadsheet or don't know how to use your keyboard. The symbols you regularly use for entering formulas such as ()= and so on would be on the keyboard and now you're moving your arm back and forth over the numpad to enter numbers? Don't you realize how idiotic that is? Using the number keys above the letters on a keyboard would be preferable, but that's slow compared to just having a real functional keyboard with a numpad instead of those silly man-let keyboards without one.

aren't the majestouch 2s and ducky ones switches clicky?

I have no idea how it is to type on one of those boards but my initial reaction is man, that's one ugly-looking keyboard. I don't know why but I do think that looks absolutely disgusting.

If you really want, though: There are full set ABS keycaps like that on AliExpress for $10 or something like that.

Also, the keyboard in your link claims to have standard cherry mx stem switches so if you buy it and don't like it then you can always just spend $10 or $20 on some cheap normal-looking keycap set.

You post all the time in /k/. Once you got in a really good shot of your desk and all the little divots and dents from placing guns next to that filco showed up. I'm jelly of your collection, but I'll keep my Adesso with cherry blues. It's ugly, bulky, heavy, and the little props on the back for tilting it up broke but I love it anyway.

Are you retarded?

Just bought these. I probably should have asked about them first, but, whatever.
aliexpress.com/item/87-Double-shot-Backlit-Thick-PBT-Keycaps-OEM-profile-Cherry-MX-switch-FOR-Cherry-NOPPOO-Filco/32801910605.html
Anyone bought these and have anything to say about them? They look a little sketchy but since they're dirt cheap I'm willing to see if they were a meme or not.
I'll post about them when they arrive, I guess

The old rosewill 9000s used to be rebranded Filcos, but they changed that with the v2. The case is still the same, but the build quality is much worse

>tfw buy nice keyset
>get here and it all fits nicely.....
>forget that because I use UK keyboard I just wasted the money

its an anne pro with aliexpress tai-hao
es.aliexpress.com/store/product/Free-Shipping-NPKC-61-87-104-Keys-Miami-Thick-PBT-OEM-Profile-Keycap-For-MX-Switches/429151_32694274773.html

its a pink color not neonish

That makes sense, considering the price difference.

Still a very good board for £50, though. Although I can't find them for that price anymore.

>I use UK keyboard
Killing yourself is not so hard. You should try it.

Rosewill is owned by newegg, so here in america we still have them here for around that price.

>you use the keyboard layout that you learnt how to type on
What are you fucking retarded?

That's a bitch. I wanted another one for work, but went back to buy one and found they go for 80ish now. I mean, I'll probably still end up buying one, just feels like shit considering the last one was only £50

>buy nice keyset
Killing yourself is not so hard. You should try it

>you put yourself through all this trouble because you're too afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new that would benefit you in the long run
Maybe you're the retarded one.

Explain to me what is retarded about using a UK layout keyboard when that's what you've been using all your life. What would I gain from trying a different one?

Also, what are you even advocating for? What layout would you prefer people used?

Well for one thing, would never happen again

Filco and their downgraded rosewill versions are made by Costar, who also make other keyboards. If you want just get a plain costar keyboard if you can find one, or just get a chinese keyboard of aliexpress

Sure it could you do realise that US layout is not the only layout on the planet that is catered for.

So you're proposing everyone across the world uses the US layout, for example? Maybe eveyone should use the UK layout, did you consider that?

International ANSI layouts exist

Yeah I did. ANSI is more common though, so nah get fucked. It's just like how you bongs, nips and strayans should all start driving on the right side of the road because that's what the vast majority of the world does.

And that is the only layout catered for? There are no keysets sold for the nordic layouts? The French use a completely different order but use a big enter key too, it seems it's the US that are the weird ones.

There is no objective reason ANSI is better. I have no power to force standardization on to anyone else, and would gain nothing from switching.

You drive on the right because Napoleon sperged out one day, what a great legacy, while civilised countries drive on the left.

This thing is sexy as fuck. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

>the US
You mean everywhere except Europe and Japan.

is that ugly slab of... something in the top right part of the keyboard? It looks nice besides that.

>civilised
>Australia
hahahahahahahahahah oh man you almost had me going for a second there

Why would you want that over a Shine 6 which is a lot cheaper? That plastic thing on the top right ruins it.

>implying all layouts aren't borderline random
>implying there is a unique single layout that is universally better than all the others

There is tho ANSI is just more convenient for programming compared to ISO, which is why it became so popular early on.

this

That's actually what I like the most. Gives off this oriental vibe.

Do you have any kind of source on this? Cause as someone who programs on an ISO layout every day, I can't imagine there being any advantage what so ever. Not saying it's worse, but can't see that it'd be better by any metric.

If I wanted a cock on my keyboard I would've just bought an apple one

>ugly random shit stuck to the keyboard.
I don't understand.

Its more convenient for typing specific characters like slashes and brackets

For $200 I would expect it to be made out of metal at the very least.

I thought it was ceramic?

Even if it is what purpose does it serve? You lose the top 4 calc + volume keys and get an ugly rectangle in their place.
