I'm planning on changing out the outdated side panel on my Phanteks: Enthoo Pro. (pic below).
I can do the work with drilling holes in the glass and all that.
The thing is finding/incorporating rigid mounting points for the screws.
Thoughts?
Has anyone done this with their own pc case?
And if so, how did it go?.

I have a question. How much has/will the tempered glass cost you? Do you have the tools for drilling glass?
*Cough* oh .. i meant to say: Those beautiful, high quality .. scratch proof panels.
...
Yeah i did a quick google search i found the method for doing it yourself.
Apparently concrete drill bits were the way to go. Also the thickness of the glass decide how close to the edge you can drill etc.
No idea how much it costs.
I think it all depends on the amount of work you/me are willing to put into researching for deals/used glass with the right thickness/finish.
Could probably find a local company that does the work for you.
Oh haha!. Yeah i chose a pic without the side panel on for viewing the possible mounting points.
Only Sup Forumsirgins have glass panels on their case so they can see their stupid flashing LEDs
We are like insects user, bright shining lights makes our primal brains active!.
If anyone has info/pics of modded cases with glass panels just post em below.
>Transparent PC cases
Just read that tempered glass must be predrilled/cut before the tempering process is done to the glass. Think i'll find a company to do the job to save cost on shipping.
Don't overengineer it.
Properly lime/sand the drilled holes.
Try to paint the unpainted orifice that's left from the drilling, mask what's painted and use a sponge to paint the cut. The paint should be mixed with solvent until you get the thickness for using it on a painting "pistol". (But use a sponge, not a spray or paiting device).
The size of the holes don't matter, use your judgement on what looks best.
IMPORTANT: carefully measure where you put the holes so they stay parallel with eachother side or it will look like shit.
This is actually easier than carving a windows out of an aluminium pane, don't fuck up.
I'm These mounting points are what would look best in that case according to my opinion.
My brain activity skyrocketed after reading the second line in that comment user.
This looks intricate as fuck.
My brain is growing as i type this message.
I will take screencap and remember your knowledge user. Useful info!.

Thanks man.
Install enthoo
I should totally plastidip the insides neon pink and put in a window
>actually wanting glass side panel
If you want to "show off" your computer, just don't stick it in a fucking case.
Cases should do two things:
1. Keep shit quiet
2. Hide everything
So you can probably just buy a new tempered glass case for cheaper. There's phanteks p300 for 60$ and inwin 101 for 70$
Tempered glass gives better sound isolation than basic side panel/acrylic. CHECK MATE ATHEISM
-> Insinuating all cases are created equal.
Since i'm already settled down with this case.
(FOR LIFE). Means i can't bother myself to invest in *cough* inferior .. cases.
My eye for QUALITY surpasses anyone.
.. And i personally dig the inner layout and front panel, plus that 200mm case fan.
Well, honestly if you were that blown away you should probably research case modding and diy stuff a bit so you can get the drills down (pun intended). There are hundreds of things you can do to a case to improve it.
^This guy has been around since ages ago on the pc modding scene.
Also, on second thought, you probably don't need to paint the drilled holes since they'll be out of vision when you put the screws in. What you should do is paint the screws themselves so they match the color of the case.
Also, get thumbscrews for ease of access. It's what commercial cases use.
Get as much info as you can and do your research.
Well, maybe i wasn't THAT blown away.
I may have pumped the gas "a bit much"
It just the feeling of getting handed instructions.
Fucking thors lightning kickstarting my drooling think-bean. I already follow one guy "mnpctech" which do mods and sell them etc.
They have a complete acrylic side panel to replace the stock one i have. But shipping to Norway is expensive as hell. And i wanted glass anyways. Off track here, Thanks for all the advice so far. I will check out this MonserMawd dude.
-> ..FUCKING SAME GUY.
Also, go for tempered glass, it's heavier but you avoid the problems that come with acrylic.
What problems? you might think.
Scratches, lots of them, it scratches just by looking at it.
Don't be afraid dude, It's the easiest mod I can think of.
Yeah tempered glass.
I mentioned it in this wall of text.
yeah as i mentioned further up i won't be drilling the holes myself etc. I'll deliver measurements to a company i just found that deal with tempered glass.
(and they do custom work for clients)
Tempered glass can't be cut/drilled etc. So it must all be done before the glass i tempered.
Nice, that way you can't fuck up the holes on the glass, the only thing left is to get the (thumb)screws and drill the holes on the case.
Don't drill them beforehand just in case they don't line up with the holes they put on the glass.
Yeah i'll avoid drilling before i have the glass properly lined up. Almost forgot about it!.
And thumb screws, mods, led strips i'll get from mnpctech.
