Why even use Linux if you can't use Internet Explorer 11?

/thread

unless minesweeper is available on linux I'm not moving an inch from Windows.

Linux debs have had years to get this ONE feature right and they still cannot do it.

wtf I hate linux now

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Internet Explorer still exist? I thought it was called "Edge"

I'm terribly sorry for interjecting another moment, but what I just told you is GNU/Linux is, in fact, just Linux, or as I've just now taken to calling it, Just Linux. Linux apparently does happen to be a whole operating system unto itself and comprises a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Most computer users who run the entire Linux operating system every day already realize it. Through a peculiar turn of events, I was misled into calling the system "GNU/Linux", and until now, I was unaware that it is basically the Linux system, developed by the Linux project.

There really isn't a GNU/Linux, and I really wasn't using it; it is an extraneous misrepresentation of the system that's being used. Linux is the operating system: the entire system made useful by its included corelibs, shell utilities, and other vital system components. The kernel is already an integral part of the Linux operating system, never confined useless by itself; it functions coherently within the context of the complete Linux operating system. Linux is never used in combination with GNU accessories: the whole system is basically Linux without any GNU added, or Just Linux. All the so-called "GNU/Linux" distributions are really distributions of Linux.

Thanks for clarification, user.
Linux it is.

>Internet Explorer 11?
Deprecated.

Freetards have to do all sorts of weird shit just to get integrated ads. While we windows 10 users have access to all sorts of sales out of the box

They still have Internet Explorer because edge is incompatible with any website made before html5

Nobody uses IE except for retards and old people.

Exactly. When will freetards learn what the consumer REALLY wants? Tim Berners-Lee knows where it's at.
GNUfags, please fuck off back into your containment thread.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

There is no containment thread. Why all the hate for Linux? It's free.

Please don't tell me that you use IE.

wine winemine

It is available on Linux though, it comes default with unity on Ubuntu 16.04

Exactly. Free = cheap. All free software is garbage because devs don't even have the incentive to make good software. That's why it never comes with a warranty.

>Free = cheap
>Something that's free means it is something that costs a little money, compared to other similar products
What did he mean by this?
>All free software is garbage
How's your windows phone holding up?

cheap quality

>Obligitory

pickle riiiiiiiiick

And somehow things that are paid are better quality? You can't be serious

Good point. But while free software may never reach the quality of paid software, it is still something to use.

No you absolute imbecile. Free software can be of high quality. Look at Linux and some of the software that comes with it. Do you think those are crap?

yeah, if you're a poorfag

It's basic science, really. There is direct correlation between quality and the money put into a project.

Hey, gotta take what you can. And I prefer quality software.

He's obviously going to say yes. You knew that though, it makes me wonder if you're falseflagging
That's literally not true unless you provide sources

Wrong.

He's right you know.

Stop being a Microshit shiller and enjoy the power of Linux.

I feel the power Linux everyday.

Go back to your loo, Poorjeet

You mean the same people who develop Windows?

A wine release is not considered valid if it don't run solitaire, minesweeper and freecell.

Not an argument. Of course. It's because he can't make a coherent argument against Linux because it's just so awesome!

>That's literally not true unless you provide sources
Yeah, I have your source right, here, loser
No.
Linux sucks. Period.

I know right. Microsoft shills just insult you and NEVER make a good argument against Linux.

Linux is great!

>that source
I laughed, thanks user.

>Linux sucks. Period
And why is that?

>Linux sucks. Period.
That's how I feel about Microsoft.

Is that what that starchy goodness in my pants is?

It doesn't.

It does.

>>Linux sucks. Period
>And why is that?

Ignore him. Just a Microshit shill just trying to defend his master.

Guys, he's clearly shitposting, did you even look at the "source" he provided? Just stop giving him attention

brought to you by carls junior (tm)

You're literally surrounded by linux, and have several linux boxes on your house.
The penguin is small and fits everywhere, unlike the elephant windows that can only be fit on a very specific box.

Windows 10 is like 5GB in size whereas Linux can be small as 2 GB.

Microshit shills will defend this!

Linux is awesome!

>wanting to pay hundreds of extra dollars for brick computers you can't fix that the manufacturers admittedly ship with adware, bloatware and other garbage.
>hating linux because it's open source

Is this peak cuck, or are these guys fucking with us?
Either way, it's hilarious. Never change, windowsfags. Enjoy your malware.

...

Damn small linux can fit in 50MB

Windowsfags enjoy malware, botnet and getting their boxes bricked because they got forced to update their machine and it got fucked.

Exactly.

open source devs make money from the royalties of licensing out their software. Sure, downloading ubuntu is free, but if you're going to use it to run a server you have to pay a considerable licensing fee, or you can get super sued. Did you really think open source devs wrote operating systems for no money? What are you, retarded?

They also LOVE Microshit's small and soft dick up their ass.

Some open source devs make money. One way or another.

I LOVE MICROSOFT DON'T USE LINUX.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Yeah, Terry Davis aside, if you're using a mainstream distro the developers are being paid normal salaries to make the os.

Microshills love Windows for the reason because it's paid. In their mind, paid is good and free is bad.

Windows apologists are annoying as fuck. Every time Microsoft does something stupid, they are quick to defend them. I know Linux is not perfect, for from it, but at least the devs put more work into their OS.

When Windows Vista came out, it showed the stupidity and the "power" of Winshit. Same thing happened with Winshit 8/8.1.

All the Microsoft shills left this thread. Good. They couldn't make a constructive argument against Linux.

kek

No one works for "nothing".
If its not money, its either because its fun to work on the thing in first place, or because they want the function the thing will provide, or because they want to add it to the curriculum to get a job later.

Which lead to some of the problems of the open source, that is that the fun shit is always done by a trillion of programmers, but the boring stuff is done by no one unless you actually pay people to do it or find that freaky guy that enjoys the torture.

In an example, Emulators. They're almost never made for any sort of monetary compensation because reverse engineering and writing emulation cores etc is fun as fuck, but they all suck at GUI because doing GUI is boring.

but why would you need a super sophisticated gui when the entire point of an emulator, for game emulators anyways, is to play a game though it? I don't care how pretty it looks as long as I can load games and play them. Not everything needs to be written like some Fisher Price computer.

You need something functional, and sometimes emulators fail to deliver even that.

I suppose. None of the emulators I use have that issue but I'm not going to deny new/alpha/beta ones are lacking. Which are you thinking of in particular?

the same shit happens in proprietary software too, free software means free as in freedom, it doesn't mean the authors don't get paid to do shit (regardless of whether want to or not)

then perhaps you should consider paying the authors

To be fair generally someone comes up later and fix the shit, but we still have weird crap like SSF, but i guess we can blame japan on that

Well yes, that's the point.
Open source works best when you let the fun shit be done for free, but pay for the boring crap.

Well you're a double nigger

Can't make constructive argument. Resorts to calling them a "nigger".

Nice job.

>Open source works best when you let the fun shit be done for free, but pay for the boring crap.
the same thing is true of proprietary software, and any other job

Indeed.
But i think my original observation is that compensation is not always monetary, but there is always a compensation.

>but if you're going to use it to run a server you have to pay a considerable licensing fee, or you can get super sued.
Wrong.

>Knows nothing, at all, about how Linux licencing can you stop spreading your bullshit?
