Toshiba Satellite S series. I had an S55. 12gb ram, 3.1 GHz i7-4510U. The only things that were missing from it were an ssd, 1080p screen, and discrete gpu.

x1 carbon 5 any good? why and why not
pls respond.

How can ANYONE be willing to buy a laptop now.

Raven Rige comes out in a few months and intel 8 gen processors will roll out around the same time.

I am a cunt hair away from buying this. Absolute max budget is $500 including tax and shipping

should I do it, Sup Forums?

Looks like a great laptop but expensive

>1366×768
Pass on that shit breh

There aren't any 1080p laptops within my price range

Mine was a Sony Vaio F Series. Great laptop at the time, it had the 1st gen i7, 4GB of RAM (I immediatly upgraded to 8 GB though) and a 1GB Nvidia. This was in a time when macfags raved about their dual core MacBook Pros.

WHEN?!??

My laptop is falling apart, can't wait much longer.

gen 3 cost like 600 bux are the good?

Soon brother, soon

:,(

Any reccs on laptops that have screens as good or close to macbook pro? XPS13/15 aside

I recently upgraded my ram from 8gb to 16gb in my Acer aspire V nitro (4720hq 960m spec)
And now I feel a little bit retarded because while with laptop is a productivity beast now I feel like I upgraded it too late in it's life cycle. I bought it for cheap and upgraded the wifi card and the HDD to SSD for free as gifts (this was 18 months ago) .

But on the other hand I don't want to drop 1k on a laptop for a performance increase that I don't need right now (but would definitely enjoy) and won't need probably not in the next year at least.

To summarize: is am retarded for wasting 130$ on rammies when my laptop is 2 generations old

HONESTLY ITS RIPPING THOUGH, BOOTS IN UNDER 11 SEC TO WINDIWZ TEYN

Ryzen laptops, when?
I'm waiting.

When amd CPUs stop demanding heat dissipation that laptop chassis cannot keep up with.

Find a Chromebook Pixel if you can.

What about APUs?

What's a good modern laptop for under $250?

thank you based user

I've had it a month and no complaints. 7-9 hour battery less with just videos, keyboard is good and screen. I think newegg has some refurbs but I'd stick with new.

Literally identical specs to the thinkpad with a 1080p screen for over $100 less. How is this allowed?

Took me forever to find a laptop that was decent around $300. I think because it lacks ssd and has 4gb ram people look it over.

Neither are a problem for me. Upgrades are easy if you want it later.

why 12gb

8 is more than enough

Mine is the Zbook 15
Because its very powerful and NASA uses it in the ISS

Does it have to be "portable" and "new"

> people spend over 100 dollars on a laptop for internet, text editing and basic media
> people crying about 1366x768

> tfw thinkpad t61p
> tfw 50 bucks
> tfw 1600x1050 (old one had a 1920x1200.. considering swapping the the screens when I find time)
> tfw perfect for comp sci work + other general college bullshit + media + really light games (FTL, Risk of Rain, etc.)

I legitimately don't understand why people feel the need to spend over 100 dollars on a laptop that is only being used for light weight applications

Just saw this. Looks like a bunch of companies are making $200-450 laptops with an updated Windows 10 s whatever the fuck that is.

Never heard of those. How is the battery life?

Fuck never mind. The 10s is like a Windows version Chromebook. You cant install apps if they aren't on the Windows store like other browsers.

lf laptop for school

I'm a multimedia student. I plan to use it mostly for text, image, and video. Not really caring much about games I guess.
So mostly I'll use
>Word, Excel
>Art/Vector
>Video editing
>Photo editing
>3D (blender)
>DAWs/music/audio
>coding (mostly web designing)

Sounds like I'd have to buy a super machine 3 times my paycheck. Especially because I'm European. Do you know anything that's not that?

Thx Sup Forums

Wish there was more 12.5in convertible laptops. There are like 100s of 13.3 and 15.6 inches which not very compact. Except XPS line. The 12.5 inch that do exist are non convertibles.

Yoga 720 is releasing a 12.5 inch in the next week or so. Is there any other 12.5 convertibles?

should be good with Linux

Average. 5-6 hours on wangblows and 2-3hours on Looninx. But I found mine for a bargain price ($950 NZD ~ 600USD) and it came with:
>i7 4700MQ
>Quadro K1100
>24gb of 1600mhz samsung memory
>512gb sandisk SSD
>blu-ray drive
>1080p display
>4g broadband module

Also because of the massive amount of 2nd hand HP office parts available I got myself a HP dock and monitor stand for an extra $50 making it a true "Workstation" experience.

I need a 12"-13,3" ultrathin and light laptop. I will only use it for studying, which includes viewing YouTube, reviewing and typing flash cards and reading huge .pdf files and ebooks. The browser should be able to keep 5-10 tabs open. All this should be effortless and without any lag.
I haven't owned a laptop in years so I don't know what kind of processing power and ram I need.
I'd really like a MacBook for the trackpad and aluminum build, but it's outside my price range, which is 900 € max.
Suggestions?

Gen 3 is good
First or second are shit

Thinkpad newer X-series.

>What is your most favorite laptop ever?

What brand ships with Ryzen 5/7 and AMD graphic card?

>buying a new, entry level laptop
What's the point? They are shit for gaming anyways. Save some money and get an old thinkpad.

what thinkpad model?

Just buy a Chromebook if that's all you're going to do. You can find all aluminum ones for less than 500. The Acer Chromebook 14 is less than 300. Other have touchscreens and even run Android apps.

& Lenovo's new ThinkPad

Those aren't Ryzen.

get a used one, join the masterrace

I'm looking to buy a new laptop, but I'm very bad at understanding all the specs. The main thing I want to do, as pathetic as it sounds, is be able to play Divinity Original Sin II.
I've been looking at the Lenovo Z50-75, but I'm worried that the clock speed won't be enough. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
