/guts/

Lets get this shit going.

Any late or planned upgrades/changes to your rigs?

-Replaced my old rampage 3 with a friends, as it were dying.
-Switched out the tubing and added some old blue shit I had laying around.
-Added 12gb ram, so now 24gb.
-Overclocked my display from 60 to 80hz.

Pretty happy with it, was planning on putting in a gtx1080 but I don't need it really for my resolution, so won't bother.

There is more room for tweaking if I wanted, cpu is good for at least 4.5ghz and ram 2000mhz at those timings, maybe during the winter cold I'll do it.

what the fuck are there no rads? what is happening in that horrible setup

It's an old cube case, rad is on the other side.

This is the old pic, just haven't taken a new one..

that and i dont see the SSD's...

also buy some 0.50c heatshrink or crimps... -9000 for duct tape

yeah idk what the fuck youre doing watercooling using UNIVERSAL blocks on a 1060 especially when you set it up looking like its from the early 2000s
that PC is pure shit, here's my best water build

is that pump seriously wired in with duct tape?

also what are all the PCI cards there? i see the 1060 with a garbage universal block and no VRM cooling but what the fuck are those other add in cards

I work with what I got, faggot. Those fullcover piece of shits are 50% of the price I paid for the fucking card. And limited to only 1060, such a waste.

Tight looking rig tho.

Insulated with duct tape, wires are soldered. Its a 24v iwaki pump that I just run on 12v.

1060 have the stock vrm sink and a fan mounted under it, cards are a Intel ct1000 ethernet, and a Asus Xonar STX soundcard.

Yes, could not afford solder, terminal blocks nor heat-shrink tubing at that time. So that had to do.
Sound card and network wifi card

Yours seems a like a mess lol it just feels awfully weird
Nice, compared to OP's I find this one a nice one

R7 1700 (Clocked at 3.9)
16GB (3200Mhz - 14 - 14 - 14 - 34)
CROSSHAIR VI HERO
ASUS GTX 1080 Ti OC

Waiting to see how Zen2 works out

Fuck off nigger, you are not me.

I still don't get it. What is the point of going watercooling when the risks obviously outweigh the benefits? They are literally as delicate as HDDs. If you want good cooling, get a good heatsink like the NH-D15.

its quiet as fuck and cool
what risks even are there? if youre not a retard its not gonna leak or anything

>compared to OPs its nice
shut up

samefag?

what? no

Yeah you've got me

Samefag.

OP did you just post an optical illusion? If you move your head(not eyes) around the RAM area of the picture, you see the black RAM sticks wobbling about next to the right ones.

...

oops didn't see that there was already a thread here we go

That psu looks.... cheap.

Kek. What the hell have happened on here in the last two months while I've been gone?

It was $35, it does it job and I like the look of the ketchup and mustard cables

About to upgrade my shit. Gonna get 16 GB more ram and a d15 but I'm still at a loss on what case to get. Currently have a 300r but its an absolute piece of shit. Does anything like the 600c inverse exist but as a mid tower? Or a case like like that wide haf case exist that has more drive bays and a more modern approach? Thing is I'd also kill for a case that let's you switch off the hard drives.

Usually actual Sup Forums-tards don't care about looks as much as they do about functionality.
If you take looks over functionality, you sound like a normie. Like people who buy Apple products these days.

I agree with but OPs build is just poorly executed.

Also the reason for wanting the inverse is for io ports from the mobo to be on the right or the wide case so I can flip it around. Works easier for everything. In fact I don't even give a shit about front io at all.

Any watercooling solutions for the r9 390?

Haven't upgraded this year, though I've changed the mouse twice.

> he can't take when someone does like his build

cry more faggot

It's a hobby you geek. There doesn't have to be a benefit.

It has a benefit though.
The potential of heat transfer is several times better than air cooling.

Mostly it's just badly executed and not needed in the first place for that same reason.

Pump -> GPU -> mobo VRMS -> CPU -> Pump

Where's the rad? How are you cooling the liquid?

Why don't you read the thread before posting?
Why do you even post when you're too new and haven't lurked enough to know how a fucking simplistic imageboard works?

>It has a benefit though.
>The potential of heat transfer is several times better than air cooling.
Sure, but it's hardly ever worth it if you're looking at through the perspective of price/performance
>Mostly it's just badly executed
Both look like they work perfectly, though one is clearly going for aesthetics more than the other
>and not needed in the first place for that same reason.
Hobby.

These threads are a useless waste of time and space.

I will swap out the 1080 with a 2080Ti or whatever and the acrylic tubes and reservoir with mineral glass some time in the future.

EMI shielding ontop of the STX? What's it composed of?

wew, what case is that? it's so short

It's a Fractal Design Meshify C

My upgrade for this PC will be REALLY expencive.
$16.000, to be precise.
Who laughting now, poorfag?

>poorfag

I have two 144hz ips 32" 4k monitors, 2 1080ti's, two top threadrippers (dual socket mobo), 128gb ram, 1 tb pci-e ssd (x4), 1tb nvme ssd, a real leather comfy office chair and a desk that measures 5 meters wide and 1 meter deep, plus more stuff.

You're messing with the wrong guy.

Provide some proofs, if you don't mind.

i'm planning to buy new hard disk, new graphic card and even I like it or not a Win 10.

But also planned to install a Linux distro just because I need some knowledge about linux while learning about programming.

>5 meters wide and 1 meter deep
You describing your desk or your mom?
Bazinga

...

...

user I'm almost positive that getting an NH D15 and leaving the air cooler on the GPU would have been better and easier.

...

i do cocaine and fuck high end escorts every weekend.

you two are faggots.

that's just well played

Why are all of the PCI express cards hanging like that

Nice (self made emi-shield on soundcard? ooo).
Although cube cases are not my thing.

I like the faggots who made everything by buying every single part readymade and then finish with RGB LED everywhere whine about the look. Some of those idiots probably couldn't assemble a PC before "toolless design" came, kek.

New build, is my cpu cooler too close to the GPU?

why did you uppercase the 'GPU' and not the 'cpu'?

idk

It's just a copper plate screwed on with plastic spacers in between. And yes, its to shield from Nvidia Coilwhine™

Thanks, yeah cubecases isn't really my thing either.. I wanted this case so bad back in 2006, but never bought it as it was expensive and I had a cheiftec mesh fulltower.
A few months ago I saw it used for like $20 and just got it for the nostalgia wants.

It came with the 3x120 HWLabs radiator, so thought might as well be my main rig case :P

I'll go matx eventually tho, but for now I'll ride this hw out. Got plenty of power for years.

Btw what's with all the kids on here now, haven't school started yet?

Or is it le epik meme raids from reddit or facebook or something?

I'll be honest, I enjoy minimalistic and tasteful aesthetics such as (though he should properly comb the cables).

But I really enjoy your build because it feels like true function over fashion, so to speak, it's quite interesting. Is that pump even made for pc watercooling or is it some random water pump?

Is that a custom copper backplate on the last pci card?

> it feels like true function over fashion

Thats what I'm always going for. And all the watercooling parts are bought used for cheap over the years, when new shit like rgb disco waterblock comes along people are practically throwing away their old shit. Won't complain.

The pump isn't a pc watercooling pump at all, its a 24v iwaki industrial pump of some sorts, I just run it on 12v. Pretty quiet and more powerfull by far than enything I've seen from the usual pc brands.

Got it in a trade with a friend who had bought a couple of them new in box years ago cheap on ebay.

>Is that a custom copper backplate on the last pci card?

it's a good start?

it's a start alright

why that many fans at the bottom? and the bottom of all places? why didn't you bother to align them?
why are the hard drive trays scattered around? why would you want the power cord on the SIDE of the computer?

>>bent fucking card
>pump just lying there
>watercooling hot shit

Haha, perfect, autists must shriek everywhere now. Will it have classic cupboard doors?
Looks like it is meant for housing a lot of HDDs, so basically a NAS/storage server.

Nice. Any advice on waterpumps not intended for pc cooling? I always thought those could be more powerful and give better temps while not being overpriced. Is this true?

Do you know about any non-pc watercooling parts that could be used on a pc for cheap and better performance than the specifically made for pc ones?

P.S: I've been toying with the idea of a radiator-less setup. You just get a big as fuck reservoir with the tubes pumping out on one end and in on the other end, so that the liquid cools itself naturally at room temperature due to there being so much liquid. Maybe 20L would do.

What the fuck?
Route that CPU Power Cable at the back, don't do it between the CPU Cooler and the GPU.

Pretty fine if you later epoxy and paint it. But why so big?

>psu shroud that shows the psu

Looks scary, but still like it, my build right now with a homemade case isn't really much better either.

Rate

i can't, the case doesn't have the opening at the top and it's not long enough to route around the cooler

i ziptied it down to the motherboard on the left side of the cooler and it runs as close to the mobo as it can

why are you freaking out about it, is it gonna fuck up some shit or what

Well to be fair, the ones made for pc is so much easier.

But my experiences with pc pumps are just hella expensive, often noisy and lower quality, so I avoid them. As for models you could get I don't know that much, mine is an Iwaki RD-30cv24-05, I just had to solder it to a molex to run it on 12v.

With regards to better temps, the pump isn't THAT important, just need to have the water flowing, really.

What I have found to be the most important temp factors is good quality blocks (anything ek supreme/supremacy is very good) you dont need the latest stuff, and a good radiator thats capable of removing more than the heat your hw puts in the loop.

Watercooling isn't needed in most cases tho, but if you like to overclock, its nice. And fun to set up.

I'm not sure why you whould want a radiator-less loop tho, just for fun? I tried one of those zalman reserator tower setups (pic related) years ago, just with better waterblocks. You could run stock ok, but even then with both cpu and gpu in the loop, the water got pretty hot.
Forget about overclocking.

We did some super ghetto water setups back in the day with almost no "made for pc" parts, car radiators, aquarium pump, sodabottle tank and homemade waterblock from just a machined piece of copper with plexi top glued on.

Functioned, but looots of work.

Neat.

>tfw poor

What case is that?

...

duuuuude

bought a compaq from the thrift store that wasn't working because im out a computer but with parts to spare i figured i could fix it, i could make a gay long post about speculations i have about the machine but instead i'll say i put a 1050ti in there and its pretty spiffy, pic related is it. i think the cable management is impressive considering shitty compaq case and non modular power supply

Pisses me off that every thrift store near me refuses to sell computers. Any that they get donated are immediately recycled instead of being sold.

Must have a deal with Applel.
Is that Phenom or Athlon 64 X2 6000/6400 or something like that?

thats shitty, this one usually has nothing good and i go there monthy. when i went yesterday i actually had to sit and think about what machine i wanted to buy, i was shocked i actually had to make a choice

replied to myself meant to reply to hit the nose on the head, originally was an athlon 64 x2 6000 as advertised on the front of the case, but when i opened this up i found a non-stock motherboard and phenom x4 in here which means someone got to tinkering on it long before it came into my possession

"hit the nose on the head"
holy shit im tired, got crossed between hit it on the nose and hit the nail on the head. i woke up way to fucking early for a sunday this morning

Nice. I was just guessing based on the stock cooler visible in the photo. I think It was already used with those high-clocked late 90nm Athlon 64s X2.

TFW when they they got the 90nm process to 3,2 GHz dualcore eventually, originally topping at 2,4-2,6 GHz singlecore. IIRC there was also a 90nm 35W dualcore, 2x2GHz (2x256KB L2) Athlon 64 3600++ EE. Would love to find that somewhere for the collection.

Good times, this is the spirit.

>risks obviously outweigh the benefits

no they don't you fucking poorfag. little risk if you know what the fuck you're doing. and if you have money to blow on this kind of setup in the first place you wouldn't be butthurt about the .1% shit goes sideways (i.e. don't spend this kind of money on a hobby if you're living paycheck to paycheck in the first place)

Any itx love? 7700k/1070
CPU at full load is at 75C, gpu is at 60C at full load. 4.7ghz on cpu, strix1070 is not overclocked.

I'd love to build my first custom loop but it's just so goddamned expensive. I had a custom loop on my Athlon XP 2400+ so I figure I can do it again, but I'm not sure if it is worth it.

Then again I'm planning to upgrade around Christmas. Can't decide if I want to go with an 1800x, Threadripper 1920x, or maybe an 8700k. My usage case is streaming, light rendering, occasional Maya, and gaming. Just can't decide on which platform to go with.

Holy shit that is nice looking, which case is that?

Custom loops are largely pointlesl these days id say, i had one for my 3930k and 5820k but i ditched it because at MOST it would give me an additional 300mhz OC out of the CPU compared to my NHD15S (and i had a 1080 MoRa rad so cooling wasnt an issue). I just got tired of the maintenance and other odd things i had to deal with.

Now i run an NHU12S on my ryzen 1700x, and i couldn't be happier. Its small, silent and extremely reliable as youd imagine. A water loop would maybe net me another 200mhz out of this cpu because of the voltage wall, but i think at that point the performance gain wont make up for the cost of the loop

TLDR; air cooling is so good these days it's largely pointless beyond aesthetics.

...

Clean as fuck

Current upgrade plan is to get myself a GTX1080 and a new computer case to access everything easier.

That being said, I'm not sure if I need to worry about upgrading even more from there. Current Motherboard is an EVGA Z77, way too much RAM, i7 processor.

I love it actually ,really sleek. What's that case?

ASUS customer service would literally not pick up all day Friday, until eventually they did and after 2 hours on hold I was told I could get a refurbished model and it should arrive in 1-2 months. Eventually I got fed up and called Amazon and told a sassy black customer service lady how shitty they were being and she went "OHHHHH dats terrible oh my goodness we gonna get you a replacement for your item" despite me being 6 months passed the return window. Genuinely fuck ASUS customer service.

kek

this, the way he does it now creates mustard gas if the cable reaches 70 degrees celcius
