>living in a world deciding we should use the right emoji that corresponds to our skin color

To be fair, skin tone modifiers were always retarded for this exact reason. They are supposed to be progressive, but there is no way for a white person to use them that a progressive would like. If you use the white skin tone modifier it could be seen as being """too proud""" of your race, and if you use a darker skin tone, it could be seen as """appropriating""" someone else's emoji. The whole idea of skin tone modifiers is essentially hypocritical because it's a form of segregation.

The only reason they exist is as a bandaid over the fact that Apple's emoji were originally white. Rather than just using neutral skin tones in iOS, because Apple can do no wrong, the problem was fixed in the Unicode standard instead and Unicode segmentation and collation was made more complicated for no reason.

Just wait until various apps decide that they will auto-replace your skin colored emojis with the correct one.

yeah but >not having an avocado as your wifi SSID

Good thread to post on a """technology""" board.

a few years I go I remember people vehemently claiming anime characters being drawn with bright skin not necessarily meant they were not black (as opposed to eastern asiatic or white), showing an image of a crude stick figure with no features at all and saying "white people see it as white, black as black"

((but when you show them animes where there are black characters with skintone clearly different from many of the others, it all falls apart))

Imagine having so little and so few problems in life that you can genuinely care about this

> claiming anime characters being drawn with bright skin not necessarily meant they were not black
This is Sup Forums Sup Forums tier.

No one in the real world cares

From what I could gather, she was hesitant to use the white emoji because it could come across as oppressive — as if she was shoving her whiteness at me.

This is why sociopolitics does not mix well with technology.

>This might be the case because most default emoji, although they appear yellow, are actually white. Tyler Schnoebelen, a linguistics Ph.D. and consultant in San Francisco who has studied emoticons, notes that many of the default symbols are phenotypically white: The symbol has blonde hair on Apple devices, etc. “It’s not surprising to me that people are not opting to go lighter, even if that’s closer to what their skin tone is, because they’re kind of represented by the default anyway,” he said.

Guess niggers can no longer eat food, since agriculture and cooking meat was pretty much invented by everyone but nignugs

I don't agree with them but your response makes little sense.

If I can't use black emojis because it's a black thing, black people aren't allowed to grow food since it's a white thing
The whole point is that they're just things, with no meaning or ownership and you can't just fucking put labels on things saying "durr dis ting is 4 blak ppl only, fuk witey" like you fucking own it

>moot

A black emojii explicitly has race connected to it.
Growing food does not.

>emoji specs including sex and skin tones were created by white men

>Growing food does not
Then why are nignogs incapable of growing food?

Well they can grow food.

Then why do they ask white people for food
You don't see white people asking food from africa

>muh race is a social construct.
