New Pixels still come with a headphone jack if you count the USB-C port

This is what Google shills really think.

if you're gonna insist getting rid of the headphone jack then at least make a small adapter that attaches right to the bottom of the phone instead of this dangly overpriced fucking brick.

face it poorfags, if apple drops a port, it becomes obsolete instantly

it's not obsolete the manufacturers who omit it are. which is why i switched phones when apple did it and i will avoid the pixel like the plague.

hope you enjoy getting software 2 years late or never

>The removal of the headphone jack from apple did bring them similar complaints at first, but then those died down and people adapted. That is what we do when we using technology, we adapt.
>we adapt
>WE ADAPT

This is what bothers me more than anything else. Technology is supposed to be our bitch and make our lives better, why the fuck should I have to adapt to something that technology has worsened?

When a phone from 5 years ago has more functionality out of the box than one that just came out, you know you fucked up

Good bleutooth headphones will make your life better than using corded earbuds

>Good bluetooth headphones
But those don't exist

Pixel comes with a free adapter.

Bluetooth 5 in the pixel supports hifi codecs and low latency.

Can't. Pixel 2 doesn't support analog audio via usb-c. Need to fit a DAC in the adapter.

Thanks for apple i will never buy a phone again.

Holy Toledo

This isn't 2010 moron. Sure it won't be like listening to $500 headphones from a super awesome DAC or whatever you people do but the vast majority of people at most just use mid range earbuds when not at home. A lot of people just use the supplied earphones even. As the tripshit said, Bluetooth 5 is a great improvment, its also on both new iPhones and obviously the AirPods 2 which will come some time in the future. You're talking about a mobile phone here, people would rather not get tangled in wires around their clothing when they're out and about.

So you need a DAC in the headphones too?

This is what you got for not buying bb

...

Sounds like this expert has adapted to his gf fucking strange men instead of him

Ha, jokes on you, I don't even have a girlfriend

She already fucked before you.

good luck ever finding them when they get lost
>b-but headphones
good luck getting to CHARGE them to use them lmao

That is why I said good, dumbass poorfag

Name one thing that BT 5.0 does to increase Bluetooth audio quality over previous iterations you cumguzzling faggot.

BT 5 has almost double the data transfer rate of BT 4.2 you dumb fuck. Not to mention being more efficient and having a longer broadcast range. Can't you do 3 seconds of Google? Or did you just think they gave it a new name for no reason?

This place doesn't even deserve to be called a tech board. Even fucking YouTube comments on meme tech channels have more savvy than this place.

this shit is so bad, thats the first time in my life i want to send death threats.

who thought that adding DACs to things with wires heavily susceptible to wear and tear was a good idea

Sorry Pajeet, but could you describe any audio profiles that use BT 5.0?

>who thought that adding DACs to things with wires heavily susceptible to wear and tear was a good idea
Why wouldn't it be a good idea? You sell more shit that way.

You literally didn't even know the basics of Bluetooth 5 before I told you, you're asking questions you're not even smart enough to comprehend. BT 5 is an emerging standard, its a TRANSMISSION standard you retarded cunt, any audio profile can use it.

Just fuck off back to 9fag.

first apple, then google, then everyone else.

>have bt headphones
>charge them overnight
>stay charged for a week using them everyday
>I also have a phone with a headphone jack
It feels good to walk anywhere without a cord at my side.

>then google,
This part is redundant.

and the world will continue to turn without you. nobody cares.

>all these cheap 3.5mm devices for me
Nice

it should cost 20 times less

It's easy you can just use usb-c for audio and wireless char-
Oh.

>Pixel 2 doesn't support analog audio via usb-c
It's part of the fucking spec. How could it not support it?

it's hip to remove things for no reason, didn't you see the trend?

Actually codec support built into the standard is pretty important.

Current standards cut out instead of lowering quality and end up adding a delay.

Eat shit, fag.

Posted from Oreo on Galaxy S6.

>carry massive over the ear headphones wherever i go

i think they are doing it so headphone manufacturers get the cost of it, fucking meme tech wars ruin consumer fun by crippling people for some cents per phone

It's not required. DESU I hated the analog audio hack, it ruins the U in USB by having certain peripherals only work in certain ports.

It's available in the spec as something you could transmit over USB-C, if the device chooses not to transmit it it's just not there. Usb C zip disquettes also don't transmit analog audio

It's optional, and it's supposed to only be used by dongles. It fixes pretty much no problems and just adds confusion. Is it even supported by any phone?

>moshi
...moshi desu

Audio is an analog signal in the end, on one side people want to gain efficiency (digital signals over fast channels) bit then on the other side everyones just toying around without ever thinking about what would be the fucking use case/near-future result (needing DACs in literally everything)...
Every thing is 'the future' nowadays, and they say "just get used to it", but in the end, that shit happens every 2 years and somehow magically it still isn't the future.

What are we even doing? Would we not be happy with another 5 years of 3.5mm jacks? Are we holding back the singularity because we think its convenient to transmit audio over something that is 3.5mm around?
Do they just want us to adapt to random things, so that it will be easier for us to adapt when they change things at their convenience and our cost?

I don't really remember what this post was going to be about

>massive
>fits in the 3-inch space in my backpack
>light enough to carry anywhere
>durable as fuck
meanwhile
>carry 6 inch goolag pixel
>with 5 inch 45 dollar headphone adapter
Have fun having the cord start coming off from all the unnecessary bending.
The headphone adapter also costs more than half of the headphones.

This is the only non-moron flagship phone. If you want top of the line and are not a moron, it is your only choice.

my 5x is the last official google phone im ever buying.

So what? The future is have my giant tablet sized phone plugged into an adapter than will then plug into a DAC on my belt, but in order to maintain decent battery life I'll need to buy a battery pack than will either go in my other pocket or on my belt?

Just give me my fucking pager back.

Good luck with that lasting more than 12 months before the inevitable solder crack on the SOC occurs. Mine lived about 14 months before it ate shit.

USB-C SUPPORTS analog audio over it, that doesn't mean that you have to connect analog output lanes to the jack.

> Sure it won't be like listening to $500 headphones from a super awesome DAC or whatever you people do
So as someone who has $500 headphones, why the FUCK would I downgrade to not having a 3.5mm jack?

Xperia XZ Premium still has a 3.5mm audio jack, and similar but better specs including a 4K screen.

No, you don't get what he's saying.
It's not OPTIONAL in the Pixel phones, because it is NOT SUPPORTED by the Pixel phones.

I do get what he is saying.

The USB-C spec supports analog audio but it's not a requirement. You still need to connect the output of an internal DAC to it and not all USB-C devices will have DACs, so requiring analog output wouldn't make sense.

And the pixel buds are 4.2 :^)

These is literally nothing wrong with getting rid of the headphone jack. The issue is that good audio manufacturers are doing nothing about it and are not producing plain USB c headphones.

>The issue is that good audio manufacturers are doing nothing about it and are not producing plain USB c headphones.
And that not all USB-C devices will output analog over USB-C.

>just include a DAC in the plug on the headphones!
And then you have headphones that have DACs, ones that don't, ones that have cheap DACs but cost $200 and so on.

Speakers are a simple thing. They take an analog signal and use it to vibrate a diaphragm to produce sound.
The 3.5mm jack facilitates this perfectly. Why change it?

> there's nothing wrong with removing what works and requiring more complexity while getting lower quality

wireless bluetooth headphones are becoming more common

in two years, you won’t need the headphone jack for anything except gaming and audiophile/audio production work

If Google can make the Google Home mini for $50, they most certainly can make an inexpensive wireless pair of earbuds

I like having the option of using both 3.5mm and wireless. Wireless when working out, corded when at home or walking about.

It's good to have the option to fall back when I've forgotten to charge BT headphones. The audio quality is good enough for on the go purposes. I don't really understand the quality argument for the removal of 3.5mm, and I've at least spent a bit on above average audio. HD650 headphones, ok studio monitors for pc and floorstanders for HTPC.

Am I going to lug around a DAC and amp for my HD650 because of muh mobile supreme audio quality (half drowned out by cars and whatnot)? Probably not going to happen...

With that said, I still don't really like the change as it's just less functionality.

Implying somebody wants another fucking battery to charge... No, we don't want that,...

Which is only for audio, you can't charge nd listen to headphones at the same time unless you spend $50 more

The Google Home Mini is subsidised with your private information.

For some reason when Apple makes a port it never catches on either tho

That's because they either gouge the shit out of manufacturers for using it, or keep it completely closed off.

I want to stomp on his stupid head do much. Why does he anger me that much. He doesn't affect my life in any way

Do they really last that long it are you shilling?

Jesus fucking christ.

I work at Google and I'd never use a Pixel 2.

they pay janitors well enough to afford a pixel?

We are all being bad consumers. The market is supposed to react to customer demand. Somehow it's become reversed where companies think they should dictate to the market. The problem is that we let them. This is on us, but still douche behavior on the part of big companies.

not my fault every other oem can't get software right

i dont mind the lack of a 3.5mm jack but "staying in the 1870s" is a very, very retarded way of putting this

Just make something that docks directly on the phone

for a board so heavily entrenched in the throes of empty consumerism, people here seem really surprised when they get nickeled and dimed

You already adapted to the removal of physical keyboards, removable batteries, expandable memory, and phones large enough to hold a battery that last more than 12 hours.

What is the removal of one more feature?

This holy shit how has no one made something that sticks right to the bottom of the phone into the port?, just blends with the contours and provides the functionality the manufacturer has taken away.

>FOURTYFIVEYOUSDOLLARS
lmao you can get a full smartphone for this
and it even has a headphone jack AND a charging port built in, so it's more practical for real life than the Pixel 2!

Most of the shit you listed is just a cash grab or because of normies demanding thinner phones. Removing the headphone jack is ridiculous tho. Only makes it less functional. It doesn't even serve a purpose...even the thinnest phones have one.

JUST

>$45

Why on Earth would anyone even consider a pixel when the Galaxy S8 exists?

>SD card slot
>Water resistant
>Actually has a headphone jack

Wireless headphones just expose you that little bit more to the botnet anyway.

>let's remove the headphone jack for more space for internals
>make the phone bigger!
So wait... Why remove the jack?

>implying
I'll be goddamned if I'm buying another phone without the option of expandable storage. I switched away from applel specifically because I was tired of paying so much just to have a decent amount of storage on my phone and not have to store everything in "the cloud™"

>18.5:9
>non-moron

>Google is better than app....
Google really lacks any type of creativity anymore don't they. You'd think they'd at least get something out of all the sjw's with their art degrees.

>can't handle all that space

top cuck

The battery life for AirPods is close to 30 hours. Neckbuds should last even longer.

At least is not a propietary connector but a standard one. My main concern is give a company the ownership of waht they sell and what can I do with it.

My momentum 2 wireless last 22 hrs with noise canceling.

30 min charge last for over 1 week. This Friday I had 5 hrs left when I got home.

Also not having to hear and feel the cord getting pulled as you walk is very nice.

Ment for

>being a consumer whore that gleefully embraces higher prices in exchange for less functionality in the belief that people will think they are wealthy

>actually wealthy people waste money on high priced rapidly depreciating consumer goods

>niggers that live in the ghetto driving Cadillacs and wearing beats headphone clearly are rich

>everyone else

You know you can still easily buy phones that support microSD and removable batteries years after Google and Apple supposedly killed those things. Not every manufacturer goes along with these things blindly

Wow.

What a fucking turncoat.

>touchjizz

At this point why not just buy a dedicated mp3 player?
You have to carry the shitty dongle same as mp3 player but atleast listening to music wouldn't eat up your phone's battery anymore

I have this piece of shit and I fucking hate it. Meme curved screens keep getting accidental touches and the sharp sides are a bitch to hold
