The state of Sup Forums

What happened in the last year? There used to be /guts/ threads that reached bump limit. Now, we are lucky to get one /guts/ thread each week and they always die after 50 replies.

What could be the reason for this drastic change?

Influx of normies and shills.

A community can only keep its state while getting more popular if the moderation is very strict.

Something new will appear for the oldfags, don't worry

>if the moderation is very strict.
Moderation already is pretty strict, it just isn't strict in regards to enforcing the right rules properly

Don't know but getting rid of guts threads is a good thing desu

>/guts/
Because it eventually gets boring.

The real issue with Sup Forums is that the only way to create an active thread is to make a bait OP like
"name a thing better than thing"
"protip, you can't"
or
"mildly offensive statement"
"prove me wrong"

Firefox thread? Muh soros
Chrome thread? Muh botnet
Rust thread? Muh sjw
Go thread? Muh generics
Haskell thread? Muh autism
Java/C#/C++ thread? Muh poo in the loo
Windows thread? Muh telemetry
Rarely a thread will survive the initial shitposting and actual discussion will occur.
Current event in tech that's not a sjw issue? 7 replies
>you would buy it if you could afford it
>if x is bad then why y?
>*does thing*
>mom found thing
>perfect thing doesn't exi-
>thing is adjecti-
>x on suicide watch
>x is finished and bankrupt
>his x is y
>the current state of thing

>Moderation already is pretty strict
No it's not. If it were then blatant shitposting would be removed from threads along with all replies to that post.
I see it happen sometimes but that's extremely rare.
This a good example of a chain that should be and was deleted archive.rebeccablacktech.com/g/thread/62814233/#62814526
It was a good thread and the shitposting was completely out of place.

Sup Forums is held back by communist FOSS people, who are inherently anti-technology and anti-progress, they are like gay pilgrims with buckle shoes and think that changing wallpaper and fonts is technology but that GPU's are not technology

guts thread is dead, now we need to get rid of chinese shopping general, private tracker general and smartphone general

i do not miss the guts cancer

I think this reply is the most accurate statement I have seen about the absolute state of Sup Forums

I think Sup Forums just needs a dose of piccolo dick, I'm willing to make the sacrifice.

>No it's not
Funny, yet if you said something the mods found to be racist it's quick to get deleted.

delete this

It's true

>board has a sticky explaining the rules
>mod don't actually delete threads that break the rules so no one follow the rules

Yeah mods are very selective about what rules they enforce.

>Post an on-topic picture that is slightly NSFW.
>Immediate ban.
>Shitpost off-topic crap all day
>Nothing.

The entire site should just shut down at this point.

Look at all these deleted racist posts.

A lot of posts are deleted by the user and then corrected.
Mods delete nsfw and almost nothing else.

>Because it eventually gets boring.

Not if everyone actually updated their fucking pictures atleast once every 6 months

True

How do we get Hiro to give us mods that will actually do their job?

It's incredibly hard to get mods from the old userbase. Also the new userbase is so large maybe we have to accept its their board now

The new userbase learned to shitpost by looking at the old userbase.
There needs to be some mechanism that controls it and keeps it level, otherwise it just escalates.

Is /tech/ any good?

It's what Sup Forums should have been, but due to it being on-topic only and the userbase difference expect less than 10 post a day
