It's definitely been around since the birth of Spurdo. Finnfags used it with Spurdos, Dolans and Goobys. Like others have said, it's our abbrevation for "terveisin" meaning "regards".
E.g. when you would end an email with
"best wishes,
name"
A finnfag would end an email with
"terveisin,
name".

It was originally a geeky meme on a niche text only tech board many years back, used to make fictional smug Linus Torvalds quotes, as he had a habit of signing every one of his damn posts with his full name. So it started as ~ Linus Torvalds, then got shorthanded to t. Linus. Recently however with the appearance of the Spurdo meme, some /tech/ Finnfags I reckon noticed the similarity with this meme and terveisin which is how the civilized ones used to close their remarks on letters and emails. While it pains me seeing how ice faggots managed to appropriate our obscure well established meme, it does give me a sense of satisfaction watching it grow and become what it is today.
