The hell is this one

acmevideosystem.de/products/megapac-l2/

what the fuck

this one is actually cool

acmevideosystem.de/products/litepac/

Does anyone here actually have one?

these things actually have a 6800k and a gtx 1080

>Get to use some beautiful ruggedised systems for my job
>Run like absolute shit because of the jankily setup encryption
>Takes about 15 minutes to log in
>Takes another 10 to establish a secure connection
>Can't do anything on these $10k+ systems but basic office tasks
>Would go to prison if I did so much as inserted an unapproved CD

It's torture.

>you can ask it with GNU+Linux preinstalled
cool

Doesn't look strong enough, my personal standard for rugged systems is that you should be able to beat someone to death with one and type up their obituary afterwards.

laptops are decent now
what's the point of these?

...

thanks US military

>decent 5 years later, and they still perform the same

12TB solid state array.

wipe it and install linux for the luls

If you can afford that, you may as well go for 2 TB in the laptop and set up a personal storage center at home

I doubt that they'd let you cross some borders with that

you can get a thinkpad p with 4 drives

I wish there was a version of this but I can use whatever internals I want

I can't go into why or how but the second you go off script with these machines the sort of people you pray you never have to even meet in passing invite you to their office for a non-negotiable 'discussion'.

bring a recorder and post the audio on youtube lol

...

>Super Slim and Lightweight
>16,5 lbs

Holy shit what an incredible meme

nice aesthetics, kinda how I imagined the "cyber" decks in neuromancer

silly

This is slow af and built for broadcasting.

>mfw using fucking struts to hold the screen up
holy fuck, this is too good to be true

h-how much?
>inb4 $4999
Totally worth it though

you need an entire table to set this up

This

the future is now

>unparalleled speed and high graphics performance

>I want defense contractor equipment worth at least $10k to sit on my desk and not go anywhere

What are these being used for that they need 12tb of SSD storage?

They're for your anime collection. Solid state to survive xxtr3me shocks.

>gtx 760

Well, I definitely wouldn't want to spend an entire post-apocalyptic future without my anime

Hello Officer user. Please don't do that. I have to fix your fucking MDT after.

Broadcasting?

Those things are basically portable workstations and/or server

Viewing and transporting classified surveillance video comes to mind

>gtx760

in the bin it goes

You can order it with no GPU and put whatever you like in it at least.

I like the concept, but it's clear they don't intend to sell to individuals both in the lack of price and the system specs. I wish there were companies that would fill the niche of portable desktops with designs like these.

Thats a shadowrun deck I think.

They're used in the military

yes I am skydiving into enemy territory in a few days and need one of these. geee its like a laptop but a 1000 time heavier

This is still the aesthetic I like to imagine for decks.

thicc

Don't think of it as a laptop, think of it as half a broadcast truck.

...

...

Trackpad & Keyboard both look like rubbish.

Might have a contender if that was/is improved.

holy fuck, that's some badass shit, i want one.

>they just lazily photoshopped a single window to where the screen should be
Why?

>using a trackpad

thats the spirit

Like the one from that one brand where the case is under the keyboard
I think it was by getac?

This

>opens computer
>sounds like a delorian

what a time to be alive

Is Osborne back in business?

>looks like resolution set to 800x600
no thanks

for all the idiots here thinking of this as a laptop, it's a portable solution for broadcast/video environments when you need something powerful, reliable with a good cooling system, only desktop hardware can do the job.

this particular product is quite stupid, high price point, mid tier hardware, and lack of I/O, there are other brands for similar products that do the same with more video inputs for live editing.

i've seen this kind of solution but kinda homemade when worked with a national ENG company, they made a backpack with a full desktop case in, high quality components, ssd storage, SDI and HDMI video input/output, a 12" monitor on the back and integrated 4G connection. not the best solution cause they made it ugly and not too practical but it worked

No such people

Where can I buy consumer grade rugged PCs?

Used almost exact machines in the military.
Mostly for mobile simulation training though. Things have full PCIe slots inside, we had Titan X'es in ours.

That... That's GLORIOUS.

No. I was trying to find a source for just the cases a while back, but that was fruitless in small quantities.
