Office on Linux

Manjaro added Microsoft office on Linux. Are all other Linux distributions absolutely destroyed? Are other operating systems redundant? What else can the developers of Manjaro do? Are they absolutely unstoppable?

Get that cloud crap out of here.

>Manjoro is now officially worse than nuubuntu
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

WHATS WRONG WHIT THAT?

If you need ms office to collaborate, use windows. If you want to use a bug-ridden pile of shit that will render your documents wrong and make you look like a retard, duct tape some bullshit solution together on linux or mac os. If you're working with other people on a project that is sensitive to formatting and easily breaks, use the exact same software/version on the same OS. Now leave this board forever.

What's wrong with Microsoft Office on MacOS? I've been using that shit professionally for like a year now. It's the reason I don't even have Windows anymore.

I almost got scared.
Seems like office is the grey bubbles for this gaylord smartass.

first one that gives me photoshop and illustrator is da real mvp

But that's Office Online user.
Every browser can use it.

>online
These are literally Electron wrappers of the Office 365 webapps you dumbass.

you are paid to use MS Office? how did that happen?

>Spiele
Don't lie. Linux have no gaems.

"We are currently working to get MS-Office natively working with any Linux Distribution."

Holy shit that's actually great. No more broken office 2010 using wine. I sometimes have to use Office for short documents or collaborating with other people. If this actually works seamlessly out of the box I'm installing manjaro.

CE dropout and lied about excel skills.

This is what's known as a lie.

>Word Online
>Excel Online
>Powerpoint Online
That's not Microsoft Office. That's the crippled shitty online version. Just run real Office in Wine if you want something way better that doesn't upload all the shit you work on.

well, good for you then!

April fools in October.

Collaborative research papers mostly. Some Excel too. Had no problems with MacOS version of Microsoft Office.

It's the same Cloud version that's already available on every distro with a web browser. It's literally Manjaro devs being Manjaro devs and wrapping shit that has been available for ages in a """pretty""" box so it appeals to idiots.

Many desk jobs are like that. You do stuff for them in MS Office and they pay you for it.

MacOS is what's wrong with it. It was great up through Snow Leopard or Lion, but has gotten progressively more bloated, walled-garden and shitty since then, as they import more and more junk from iOS.

>Many desk jobs are like that. You do stuff for them in MS Office and they pay you for it.
Many can be replaced with libreoffice, but you don't have to pay for office to use it as it will function as unregistered.

OK, I didn't even know about the web version. Need to check it out. I don't really see the point in investing the effort then.

this is unironically the most pajeet shit I've seen in my entire life

>LibreOffice
It's nice but its Excel replacement is lacking in functions.

No, because it doesn't have notepad++.
Also android has had microsoft office for ages now.

Not him but the no games argument is not true anymore. Windows is the best os for gaming mostly due to most game developers are trained into developing for it with microsoft's closed APIs, so the simple process of porting a game that was developed for windows to any other platform will affect negatively the performance of the game. This with the fact that the marketshare is small compared to windows there's hardly an incentive at the moment to optimize for linux, making look as if the platform were worse for games than windows when in fact to flip the situation you'll need to change the idiosyncrasies on the industry itself.

The fact though is that the situation on linux is not nearly the same than two years ago and now those who prefer linux over windows now can play games on it, helping to break the vicious circle, but still there's a lot of things to do for linux to compete in the gaming side. I anyone wants for this to change i recommend to play the games you can on linux when possible and ask for linux ports.

I notice some people doesn't want's for this to happen but if that the case let me ask (not directed specifically to the person i'm replying): how are any of you benefited in a meaningful way with the current situation? because i consider that keeping the statu quo just to have a tool to win an argument on what OS is better is not a meaningful thing. how having less options and practically being locked to MS products benefits you?

Notepad++ works fine on wine but honestly i prefer kate by a lot even on windows.

They are using JAK

kates been my goto but something about the flow of notepad++ makes it feel more natural. maybe because thats what I learned on.
cant deny the macro function is a massive benefit though.

This is literally the web version of Office. Any modern web browser can run it on any modern operating system.
