This is the future. We don't have flying cars yet, but this is a pretty good compromise.

Shut up and take my privacy!

I don't get it. What's so great about these?

THANK YOU BASED MICROSOFT APPLEL IS BTFO FINISHED AND BANKRUPT

Why can't ayylmaoware or ASUS make something that looks this good?

There's literally no fucking reason for the retarded bulky shit designs these days with Pascal.

>No thunderbolt
No thanks

>protruding island keys
well there's something new

blahblah dollars deposited blahblah shills blah gtfo

The keyboard looks stupid but I like everything else about it

Please calm down, Pajeet.

>1060 at that thin laptop
Wew

>no Panos Panay presentation
it's shit

but there was.

And a Evangelion video
youtube.com/watch?v=4ck5RbTQj28

>Microsoft OEMs says Surface will be killed because they can't compete or innovate with Microsoft
>Microsoft slaps them in the face with Surface Book 2 release

>Evangelion invented Fly Me to the Moon

KILL YOURSELF FAGGOT

estimated price?
need to upgrade this old shit 2011 macbook pro

from $1500 to $3500

steep
what's the go to cheap but underrated laptop?
similar to the oneplus 5 in phones.

>tfw just bought the SB 2016 two weeks ago
I hope I can still return it at BB

So, how gimped is that 1060 with that slim form factor, poor cooling and that battery life?

I'd worry about the covfefelake quad-core more.

You can.
Especially if you tell them you want the newer one instead.

I snicker every time I see some faggot using one of these desu

they just came out like 30 minutes ago tho

The actual important part of the event IMO.

>been snickering for 30 minutes

>regular wheel
after using a Logitech Zone touch that feels outdated

Wtf why didnt they change that shitty hinge?
Also thats one dumb looking keyboard.

They did change it, just not superficially.

>2017 Microsoft Surface Laptop
LITERALLY
UNREPAIRABLE
0/10 SCORE
WORSE THEN ANY MAC

this is a different product babe update the bot

Is this an actual laptop or another tablet?

The screen detaches if that's what you're asking.

cause it's mostly fine in the first place

>This one will be different!

>yet another giant tablet
kek

Hmm? ifixit.com/Teardown/Microsoft Surface Book Teardown/51972

A detachable screen is the most unintuitive thing ever, it's such an annoyance to find a place to put the keyboard base. Anyone else prefer 360 hinges?

I used around 60 of the original devices in a job I worked back a while ago.

Holy fuck these are really nice to use, really made me want one.

My only complaint with them was the fact that they are fuck expensive.
They probably do the idea that microsoft has been trying of half tablet half laptop best.

You're a retard that can't tell the difference between the Surface LAPTOP & the Surface BOOK 2

Totally different products

>Anyone else prefer 360 hinges?
No, swivel hinge all the way.

You can always just keep it attached.

Right, but it's just more effort than flipping the damn thing around. It seems trivial, but after using a Pro 4 and a book for a while to take notes, it just becomes annoying.

How the FUCK does that have a 1060 inside of a tablet.

Pajeet engineering

GPU is in keyboard
CPU in tablet

>still with that retarded meme hinge

fucking Pajeetsoft, I swear

How's it any different from a 360ยบ hinge?

It's going to be a Max-Q

Extremely high binned, so the chip will costt the same as a 1080 desktop

And perform like a 1050 Ti Desktop.

But hey it only uses 60 watts of power lmao

So you're saying the Surface is in any way repairable?

because that's wrong too.

kinda

>ready to detach

That brings me back.

We're never going to have 'flying cars' user.
It's never happening.

We might get flying JonnyCabs in due course, but you'll never *EVER* be in control of a flying car.

fucking this
>terrorist heaven

What they don't show you in that break down is that they break the screen

they break the screen in ever surface tear down.

I work in this industry and nobody I fucking know has ever been able to successfully separate the screen from the chasis. And then after you do that, what do you have

>Replace motherboard
>Upgrade storage
>Replace screen(Required)

Repairing them is about as cost effective as buying another one. And Microsoft knows it. they won't touch them.

They have a 1 year warranty and in that time, they will literally just give you a refurbished unit in replacement for any warranty claim that is valid by their ridiculously stringent requirements. You try to take one that's broken outside warranty and offer to pay the mto fix it, and they wont, they will ask you to buy a new one.

It's fucking disgusting

Anybody who supports these products is an awful person.

Forget terrorists, imagine if your average retard was able to stop driving his deathtrap and start driving a flying one.

>not buying the 2 year BB warranty with every major purchase

Americans are disgusting.

oh come on. besides the shitty repair ability you have to admit this is an impressive device

I've used the old surface the temps were impressive.

Some devices just can't be repaired easily with certain qualities people want. You can't have everything. this device has a pretty good quality build, impressive internals with even better cooling.
If you complain about the repair ability this device just isn't for you

Can it run Linux?

>you can't have repairability

the Latitude e7285 says hello.

I can see at least 17 opportunities for repair ability improvements in every single surface

The first one is super obvious. Instead of gluing the glass to the chasis, glue it to a fucking metal strip with machined screw holes. Cover the screws with screw caps for seamlessness

>Muh cost increase!!!

It's already an over priced piece of shit. Adding this would just justify the price a little better.

they did it this way on purpose, the same way Acer relies on structural integrity screw points instead of an actual frame in their laptops. It's cheap shit build quality meant to degrade rapidly over time so that people will buy more!

> Latitude e7285
far from a surface pro 2 friendo
can't 360
can't detach
can't into pressure zones
heavier
can't beat cooling

>I can see at least 17 opportunities for repair ability improvements in every single surface
The first one is super obvious. Instead of gluing the glass to the chasis, glue it to a fucking metal strip with machined screw holes. Cover the screws with screw caps for seamlessness
They dropped alot of this for simplicity to manufacture the amount they need to sell to make their money back for making such a device. it cost a lot more if it had to be hand made. Because what you are suggesting would be pretty difficult to manufacture
>Buying at launch
you deserve that hit besides Microsoft offers alot of discounts for students and companies

It is far from a perfect product I agree
it doesn't even have Usb C
but these devices have their limitations on whether they can be manufactured for a reasonable price so costumers can have them at non lambo prices.

better yet. It can run Linoox from the Microsoft Store!

you're disgusting.

I don't even have to rebuttal any more

you're LITERALLY Defending a Microsoft product. the most EVIL company in this industry

and you're defending them.

you're fucking pathetic.

>same hinge as Surface Book 1

Didn't they say that they were working on a different hinge? One that would leave no gap? I remember being interested in the Surface Book but the hinge was a deal breaker.

>ends the argument with an ad hominem
Just admit it there are alot of things to take into account in making a lap top. Reason why there are so many shitty ones are because modern manufacturing fails us

>NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 and 1060
>in an ultrabook
This shit is gonna explode.

evangelion shills are too braindead to realize something came out before it. everything in the show is taken from some other work, even the terrible rehash of a story.

literally shaking

wwwwrrrummm
wwwwrrrummm
eeeeeeeeeeeee

But seriously, why is the trackpad off to the right?
Where is the trackpoint?
Can it run Ubuntu?

"the most powerful Surface Book ever"

Nice to see Microsoft taking cues from Apple marketing, but then again, there's only ONE OTHER SURFACE BOOK FROM LAST YEAR so making a more powerful one isn't really that much of a stretch at this point. Not like there's a dozen models to choose from and compare against, geez.

I mean really, this shit is just hilarious.

$100 for $15.35 worth of hardware.

NOPE

>8th gen mobile i7 is now quad cores with hyperthreading and 4.0GHz+ clock speeds

w e w
the next macbook pro lineup is going to be amazing.

Just think, literally all upcoming laptops with 8th gen intel CPUs are going to be able to market themselves as 100%+ faster than the previous model.

Come on son, who even knew about that old ass song till Evangelion used it?

But why the fuck do you need an expensive and powerful laptop that can break outside and boil your eggs when you can have a dirt cheap burner terminal laptop+ VNC server on your desktop?

Looks pretty good but I'll just take my XPS 13 and desktop

I can see this is great for those without a desktop and still want a light computer

Convertible laptops are a meme. After the first month, you will never use the tablet or touchscreen (beyond scrolling web pages). This is coming from someone who owned an X1 Yoga.

at least it's not apple

The 25 cents per post, most likely.

>IT'S HAPPENING

What's happening? Bollywood party at Microsoft HQ?

That's the thing, it's not.

Sup Forums is peak autism remember?

How the fuck did Intel manage this at 15w?

All things considered though, pretty decent performance for a laptop that isn't a 2 hour battery life housefire in a box.

My 6 year old laptop with the i7-2630QM already had a 4c8t chip though.

cause they own that shit and only pump out the good shit when they know they will turn a profit

By actually working for the first time in 5 years after AMD released something decent. I'm happy there's real competition again. I wanted AMD to be good so Intel can be better. I only use laptops and it'l still be quite a while until major OEMs have some sort of Ryzen shit in their laptop lines.

>implying our W520s can match up with this crazy future tech

By lying. Look at the base clock.

>i7-2630QM
>45W TDP
>turbos only up to 2.9GHz
>Sandy Bridge IPC
Good at the time, but it is nothing in comparison to this new lineup.

>put KBL-S die into the 15W laptops and underclock
>working
?

They did something at least. I don't care exactly how they did it, but Coffee Lake equipped laptops are considerably more powerful than 7th gen CPUs within the same thermal envelope.

Sup Forums also likes to make statements on things they have no experience on, as I said it's trivial but it is definitely more effort to press a button to detach the screen and then flip it around and set it back onto the base, and once you do this 100 times it's just more appealing to get a notebook that you just flip around. As far as the pro 4 goes, there's nothing to keep the keyboard secured when you flip it around so it just flops around unless you keep a good grip on it.

Wow...
That trailer..,.
Was epic!

Looks exactly like a fucking MacBook, like every other laptop nowadays.

You're right, I was just saying that a 4c part in a laptop isn't that special.

More cores, lower clocks, still inferior to Raven Ridge.
Hmm, bravo Intel!

Whether its inferior to Raven Ridge or not doesn't fucking matter if I can't have RR in a broad range of laptops I may wish to choose from in the future, does it?

It is getting closer to the platonic ideal
