This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
What do you guys think? I can get it for $385. It's 38mm and has a 2824. I could also get a Hamilton flieger chrono for 700 dollars, it has a Valijoux 7750. I kind of want to get them just because of the price, even though I'm not a huge fan of the design.

Why can't I put leather on a diver?

Grayson Gutierrez
So tell me about how Obris Morgan works. Is it really that you pre-order and then still have to snipe on release day? Hell, one guy said he was 0 for 3 on trying to get one. If it's that much of a pain I may skip it entirely.
Ryan Kelly
Because leather isn't waterproofed like the watch is meaning it defeats the purpose of the watch regardless if you're going to actually submerge it. There are plenty of appropriate alternatives like sailcloth, stitched rubber, and cork. Only vintage watches get an occasional pass because they are likely no longer waterproof anyways, have an older aesthetic that better matches leathers, and may have been originally equipped with leather before better alternatives were popular.
tl;dr autism

holy fuck seiko's are massive! How many nips can even rock that?

There is literally nothing wrong with being a little chubby
Jaxon Gutierrez
Why would i be angry? you wear shitty old nip shit on your fat hand. I was only asking a question about when your balls were removed.
Adrian Bailey
Because water, and especially salt water, fucks up leather.
Thomas Hill

no one is same fagging anything. I don't post 60 images in every thread of Seikos on my wrist. I also don't cause multi thread arguments I am literally only asking when you had your testicles removed. I have not posted a single image in this thread.
Blake Roberts
>When he wont tell you when his testicles were removed.
David Lee
I unironically like the Seiko the most out of these. However, the lugs on the speedmaster the coolest. I do like other sea dweller models more than the marinemaster, just not that one. Awesome set of sport watches nonetheless.
Probably just because you are the easiest poster to identify here now that 9ball dropped trip or left. I'm sure that if he found ways to specifically pester other posters he would. The best he can come up with otherwise is lame shit like 'seiko males.'
Wyatt Allen

1970 omega geneve cal 601
Michael Morgan
The MM300 is a neat design, but I cannot deal with the monobloc case on a theoretically "unadjusted" movement. If it had a screw back case it would be easy to regulate and then have pressure tested. Mind you I'm autistic and most people probably don't care that it's a pain to regulate.
Owen Rodriguez
D-d-do you shave your hands?
Liam Wood
My Seiko Collection.
Ryder Butler
How's the accuracy on it? I'm curious how non-chronometer 56x/6xx/75x movements perform.
Lucas Brooks
I've 613x. How's it running?
Cameron White
no +-3-5 seconds a day, super impressive for such an old movement imo. the cal 601 is one of omega's best movements of that era
Parker Baker
The finish on that penis quartz is so weird. It looks like aluminum foil or something.
Charles Parker
It's not about identifying frequent posters, it's about outing specifically insufferable faggot ones.
Colton Bell
That's really impressive. I'm familiar with that movement family and I know the chronometer versions were some of the best pre-quartz volume produced movements, but I'm always interested to hear how the less factory adjusted versions perform (like the Seiko 5206/5216s vs the 5246/5256).
Joseph Price
that's just a nice watch
Logan King

I don't really mind the case, though I understand your issue. I don't mind because it isn't something I would try to play with myself on a watch in that price range. If I had problems I would just send it in. Idealistically it is an issue, but not practically.
Sexy bullhead.
Isaac Fisher
Different poster. My 613 runs with a Delta of about 9 seconds across 6 positions in the first 24 hours. Not bad at all. Was serviced by a mall jeweler (upscale one that sells Rolex, jlc, chopard, MB&f, etc, but still a mall jeweler) about six months ago.
Julian Rodriguez
agreed. I know the 601 wasn't as finely adjusted as the chronometer variant, but the 601 made reliable Swiss movements available affordably for ordinary people. I wish Omega would return to that philosophy, but it makes perfect sense that they can't and won't.
thank you
here are some of my less refined special snowflake watches
Christian Reyes
is that a 24 hour raketa? thats nice as well. good taste m8.
Juan King
that's a raketa 24-hour polar bear. i'm an idiot and left it at work, someone stole it :(
this one is a raketa kopernik. terribly inaccurate and has maladjusted hands but a neat gimmick watch
Colton Torres
that's pretty good. can't say I'm a big fan of that case geometry but I appreciate the 613 movement. do you still have a 50 hour power reserve?
Charles Mitchell
It's a fake.
David Fisher
the last of my special snowflake russian watches is my modified vostok amphibia. setting the date on this is a real bitch -- you have to rotate the crown by 24 hours over and over again until you get the right date
the bracelet for it is pretty shit quality, felt cheap and broke quickly. it's a pretty durable movement in a durable case so I still keep it around. doesn't see much wrist time these days -- considering buying a NATO strap for it but I dislike the watch's invicta-tier thickness
Lincoln Green
how do you know? I haven't really heard of fake raketas -- I paid about $90 for it which seems on the money considering raketa 24 hour watches are pretty common and not particularly desirable.
Brandon Williams
you can "quick set" the date on those. Its in the manual. You go to like one and 9 or something i don't remember.
Gabriel Myers
I haven't measured it. It's certainly well over 36. I might try to measure it and will report back if I do. It just got a new mainspring so at least it's possible.
Chase Morales
A vast amount of Raketas for sale have been pieced together using fake dials, hands, and 12 hour movements shoddily converted to to 24 hour. Real Raketa are only worth roughly $60, so $90 for a franken/counterfeit is ridiculous.
Brayden White
well, I can't say I'm too surprised. I don't particularly care about the horological heritage of raketa so unknowingly buying a fake doesn't bother me that much
thanks for the insight.
Dominic Nguyen
>Real Raketa are only worth roughly $60 I bought my vintage raketa for 40 dollars. What does this means?
Robert Cook
>roughly

It's all the way back to 8 and the past 12, but either way it's still a total pain in the ass even with that "hack" when you're going past a couple of days.
Adam Ross
someone on wt uses that exact image with that exact file name. They are also completely retarded on here.
Benjamin Harris
It's a pretty common filename man. Hell, laughing_girls.jpg is more or less a meme without the image. Have you not seen it in greentexts?
Jordan Lee

Joshua Ward
I don't know man the exact filename png instead of jpg equally retarded. It may be the same guy
Julian Perry
>look at me! im retarded! >fuck off retard. >hahaha you rage filled shitposters tears are delish! you always post the meme omega watch you have or one of your many shitters. Super easy to call out for being a faggot because you literally cant stop being a fucking moron on every post. Fatty. whats with the 8 on the dial? that font looks so strange but oddly attractive. love that patina.
Wyatt Thompson
It is a bit of a coincidence, but with so many people on Sup Forums it is still a bit tenuous. Maybe if the file size, resolution, etc. are the same.
The 8 probably looks odd because of the seconds hand. Otherwise it matches the font on the rest of the dial. See 2. Try not being such a faggot next time you post.

Ayden Jackson
The cosmic reissue (nothing to do with the original 50s cosmic series) was meant to capitalize on the space fever with a futuristic styled watch. So they have arabics with no rounded pieces. The dial with the numerals (as opposed as stick indices) is kind of rare; I've only seen two examples in person.

i literally said the 8 looks weird lol because of the font style. fucking relax dude..... Or are you just that nasty meme omega shitposter? yeah im a fan of most of the cosmic series. i almost got a 136.017 but instead i save for a tudor black bay. pic related.
Jose Walker
no the cuck has a rolex not an omega. He has his daddies rolex and like 50 shitty old Seiko.
Elijah Powell
If I get a vintage speedmaster am I a brainlet? I don't really like any watches under 3k but I can't really justify spending more than 1500 on a goddam watch
Ian Lewis
Nah modern Speedmasters are the brainlet's choice.
David Ramirez
save 10 times more money and go 321 faggot
Aiden Hill
vintage speed's are pretty damn good value and are well respected. consistantly solid movement and every watchmaker could fix one. As long as it isnt one of the shitty speedy autos. All speedy autos are POS ticking time bombs.
Gavin Martinez
speedy autos have the lemania 5100 or eta 2892-a2 which are both very robust accurate good movements. so you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about
Kevin Powell
>ellipsis >I literally said something I didn't say >but instead I save for Are you illiterate? Please practice English somewhere other than Sup Forums, it will be more helpful for you.
Make sure you do research, get the movement you want, find one in good condition, take service costs into account, the usual vintage stuff. It is a fine idea as long as you aren't stupid about it.
Jordan Ross
What does Sup Forums think of cloak watch? Never owned a watch, thinking about buying one off the kickstarter. I think they look nice
Jason Wilson
>"you have no idea what youre talking about" >has no idea what theyre talking about. >not realzing its a shitter 2890-2 and not a 2892-a2 until like 1995. >talking about VINTAGE speedy autos. >not mentioning god awful lemania 1340 >thinking of the lemania 5100 as anything other than the ugly retard of the auto family that's prone to breaking down often. The good speedy auto's are far and few between. Omega has fixed most of their problems with its neat coax movement. VINTAGE speedy autos are exactly as i said, ticking time bombs.
Hunter Taylor
Kickstarter watches are haram
Robert Green
Quick someone post the A F F O R D A B L E L U X U R Y thing. It's just one of many overpriced meme watches. Granted this one is actually a decent idea with its modular design and actual swiss ronda movement but don't be fooled into thinking it's actual value or worth it.
Jaxon Turner
That's a fake right?
It looks like shit. And why is the crown on the retard side of the hand?
Justin Gomez
also side note: i just noticed their website says "Swiss-parts movement". what rhe fuck is that supposed to mean? half chinese and half swiss? huh?
Cameron Cooper
Chinese/Japanese movement with a Swiss battery :^)
Hudson Thomas
What the fuck kind of preorder is that? I just preordered my Explorer and then a couple of months later they mailed it to me, no sniping needed. This was a while ago though and they've apparently exploded in popularity (or shilling) since, so maybe they changed it.
Cooper Walker
>kickstarter Those watches are either plain japanese quartz, "actual european timepiece using an european movement with european roots and heritage" ronda quartz or "exquisite mechanical movement INSPIRED by european mechanical movements" which it is just a miyota movement.
Tyler Taylor
yeah that text on the dial looks all fucked up. the "PELAGOS" font looks off and the T in certified is out of line and the i tapers. Either rolex is asleep at the wheel or thats a total fake.
John Rogers
not fake. Pelagos LHD
Zachary Brown
I think he confused the release notification with actual ordering.
