Mint > Arch(?)

So I told my IT teacher, I'm using Linux Arch and then she told me, I should try Linux Mint/Ubuntu. What to do Sup Forums?

Do whatever you want, it's not like she ordered you to try it...

>she
That's normal.

nubuntu and mint a shit

I tried mint, the Discord app and web page made it crash to the point of not responding to the usual key combinations

I've been using discord since I installed mint

just werks for me

Odd, I had installed mint, xfce version and then I downloaded Discord from their website. The app installed and booted up just fine, but after some 5 minutes it crashed in the middle of a text chat. I rebooted the OS, it happened again. Then, Discord rolled out some update and it made the app crash while loading so I guess I'm just unlucky.

>I'm using Linux Arch
Too much time on your hands, noob?

> and then she told me, I should try Linux Mint/Ubuntu
Maybe she saw that you're having problems, user and can't handle such complex OS, therefore you should try something simpler?

> she
Does "she" have a penis?

Arch is shit.
>If you want a symstemd system use fedora core
>If you want rolling release use gentoo
>If you want a server use FreeBSD
>If you want security use OpenBSD
>If you want to program use debian

systemd*
sorry

install gentoo

You missed a word. Here, let me fix it:
>Arch is THE shit.

>Arch is shit
>Arch is everything you then proceed to list in 1 distro

Arch is for hacking and serious programming only
Toddlers should use Ubuntu or Debian instead

I use Fedora because it just werks and it isn't Ubuntu. Also I don't mind systemd

>/r/linux

visited that place once.

never again.

Why try to show off? You're using an OS, you're not hacking the gibson

What's wrong with it? Seems like a decent enough way to keep up to date with happenings in the Linux world.

Try Ubuntu Mate. Its easy to use and Mate is a great DE.
Shes probably recommending these easy distros to you, because with them you can spend more time working and learning, than just fucking around with the distro itself. (Mooooooooom cancel my meeting!!! pacman broke my xorg.conf again!!!!)

Either that or she is secretly one of those super woke full distro circle kind of people. (Ubuntu ---> Debian ---> Arch ----> Gentoo ---->Ubuntu)

use a non-systemd distro you twats

youtube.com/watch?v=F4k7TPKcT2Q

There aren't any non sysd distros that aren't an utter pain to get working or don't severely limit what you can install

install
fucking
gentoo

But whats wrong with mint? Its the real OOTB distro.

>install MacOS

PCLinuxOS

>>If you want a systemd system use fedora core
You mean literally any distro because they all switched? They did that for a reason: systemd is now the superior choice
>>If you want rolling release use gentoo
What if I want my generic shit precompiled for speed of update?
>>If you want a server use FreeBSD
Top fucking lel, also what kind of thick moron would use Arch for a server?
>>If you want to program use debian
With 2 year old outdated junk in the repos? You must be kidding. Also:
>FreeBSD over Debian for servers

>kde
>no systemd
>mimics windows gui
where was this all my life goddamn

see

FUCKING IDIOT its hard even for techie people it is the worst advise

yep mint cinnamon rocks

let people yunno figure out how pakage managers werk and what the fucking hell a DE even is and maybe some of the subsystems like pulse and systemd before they have to start removing them

fuck i just cringe at you Sup Forumsuys sometimes

>its hard even for techie people
can't fucking get gentoo to work?
go back to Sup Forums you brainless dickwad

True gradation. Me:
debian->gentoo->arch->solus.

This thread smells like ***dit. You have to go back.

Well. Arch will be forever just a nerd distro because it requires additional ćonfiguring and lack of graphical instalator makes it more timetaking and annoing.

Linux mint becomes more attractive distro for people because mint focuses being OOTB, user friendly and "just work". And in most cases it does it better than ubuntu.

They manage to be more bitter and autistic than Sup Forums with none of the irony and self-awareness

It's honest to god the worst online community I've seen. Not even memeing.

"Configure your computer" > Boot > Set ip display manager > SDDM

"System settings" > Display and Monitor > Compositor: > Enable on startup,
--Tearing: Full screen repaints
--Keep windows thumbnail: Always

"System settings" > Input devices > Touchpad > Scrolling > two finger, reverse

Gentoo my man

and remove icons from buttons, you have to do it in GTK
