High quality video output profile (goes into mpv.conf): profile=opengl-hq video-sync=display-resample interpolation tscale=oversample mpv.io/manual/master/#configuration-files
maybe do you have any multi-angle footage? i've known it's supported by the DVD standard for years, but i've never once actually seen any
Leo Moore
he's referring to video that has multiple video tracks, each a different camera angle of the same scene think multiple security cameras
Logan Harris
Does mpv work well for watching anime for hours?
Andrew Davis
I am new to mpv and I want to make 30 or 24 fps videos run at 60 fps at runtime. I know this is possible but how do I do it? Do I just copy scripts on my config folder and its done?
That's a very enthusiastic response, off to download it I am then.
Jacob Carter
well, i don't know if there's anything special about multi-angle video on bluray, but mpv does support files with multiple video tracks (by default, you can cycle between video tracks with "_" (underscore)), if it's just that
Gabriel Ward
prepare to be either amazed by it's simplicity, or confused and annoyed by it's apparent difficulty, depending on what kind of user you are
Joseph Baker
Damn I love it, no bullshit: press Enter and play. Nothing else. No fancy menus and shit. Video quality is somehow great. Why isn't every player like this?
Carter Hughes
>Why isn't every player like this? not really sure i mean, most people are either "i want to configure nothing" or "i want to configure everything" mpv is good at both, without touching anything, it plays video, with sane defaults and just the bare minimum in immediately-accessible controls without learning anything and if you want to fuck with everything, there's no guis and menus and checkboxes in the way, it's pure text, just type what you want
Gabriel Scott
If your GPU is not super shit make sure to enable the config from the OP. Just create a mpv.conf (.conf as in extension) file and put config lines (profile=opengl-hq, etc) there. Put mpv.conf in the same folder as mpv.exe. There is also pretty cool "skipchapters" script on the User Scripts page from the OP. It lets you to skip OP's and ED's or previews. You put it into "scripts" folder inside the root mpv.exe folder (mpv -> scripts). Enjoy!
Ian Bell
if it's a new file, wouldn't it also need "[default]" at the top? i'm not actually sure if it's a requirement
Leo Young
>if it's a new file, wouldn't it also need "[default]" at the top? You mean in the config? Then no.
Leo Diaz
No need for a [default]. You can use the [] for profiles, like maybe a [protocol.rtmp] for disabling cache for real time streams.
>If your GPU is not super shit make sure to enable the config from the OP. It seems like everyone in this thread uses gpu-hq/opengl-hq, but there's certainly people like me who do not use that at all. With that my ex and my friends don't use it either.
Lincoln Davis
better to put it in %APPDATA%/mpv/ or portable_config
>better to put it in There's no real reason to do this. Only for multi-user installations where people use different accounts on the same machine and all want their own configuration.
When performing a windows refresh it will retain your settings. It's poor security to have the account that you use daily full permissions to everything. portable_config is good for having different builds, sharing your settings and containing mpv to just that folder if that is something you prefer.

I subscribed to your patreon haasn :3
Aaron Cooper
we're going to the moon!!
Xavier Myers
$13/month! Damn!
Michael Reed
Will she send me nudes if i sub?
Grayson Jenkins
mpv can play twitch stream?
Connor Stewart
Good boy.
Liam Scott
Yes, she (male) definitely will.
Oliver Gray
Naisu
Jackson Peterson
I'm the 10USD guy :3
Gabriel Rogers
Are you going to ask haasn to port NGU? :^)
Alexander Fisher
No, I don't care about any shaders
Levi Jones
No, I'm the 10USD guy, make a chromatic aberration filter Haasn
K-Lite Mega user here. Thinking about migrating to mpv Is there a nice win32 GUI for mpv, exposing most vital settings without having to edit text files to config things? Alternatively something that also looks as comfy as MPC-HC? I'm also interested in the 60fps interpolation thing. Someone hold my hand.
You need a program to send the stream to mpv, youtube-dl and streamlink (used to be called livestreamer) are two such examples.
Nolan Sullivan
installed. still dont work.
Joshua Barnes
>installed lmao
Bentley Miller
mpv actually built-in chromatic aberration once; to try and increase the effective upscaling precision
Turns out it was shit, for the same reason nobody likes ClearType
Jonathan Scott
o shit, that looks neat how do I add userscripts and interpolation to that tho?
Christian Evans
What are honest advantages of MPV versus MPlayer and VLC
Daniel Wood
put the scripts into the scripts folder. For regular mpv you just put video-sync=display-resample and interpolation into the config
Brayden Nelson
MPV can be an all in one video player/music player/image viewer and the very rapid development cycle meaning bugs will be squashed quickly is very appealing. Don't have to worry if my image or music player supports a standard or file format either, MPV can support anything.
Jackson Ward
tried the seek-show-position because it seemed simple enough, but that did nothing, there is also no conf to put those configs in
Juan Reed
Have you tried mplayer?
Leo Evans
I tried it at one point and it wasn't bad
Gabriel Gonzalez
I used MPlayer, but I quickly switched to uau's fork because upstream didn't support ordered chapters. Then uau's fork turned into mplayer2 and mplayer2 turned into mpv and now I'm here. I'd consider using MPlayer again if I was retrocomputing and I needed one of the VOs that time forgot like -vo cvidix or something.
Brandon Wilson
What can MPlayer do that MPV can't?
Kevin Gonzalez
get the newest version of mpv from here sourceforge.net/projects/mpv-player-windows/files/64bit/ run updater.bat as administrator run installer/mpv-install.bat as administrator run installer/configure-opengl-hq.bat edit the now created mpv/mpv.conf to include the following # High quality video rendering for fast computer. profile=gpu-hq video-sync=display-resample interpolation scale=ewa_lanczossharp cscale=ewa_lanczos tscale=oversample deband-iterations=2 deband-range=12 save-position-on-quit make a folder called scripts to put all the script files into read through the doc folder for anything else you need or want. Ask here if you get stuck on anything and someone may help you.
Luke Cox
It works on all sorts of ancient 2000-era hardware, as well as the GameCube and Wii. It also supports DVD menus and it has a built-in GUI (gmplayer.)
Elijah Ward
deband-iterations=2 deband-range=12
what did they mean by this?
Bentley Bailey
but how do I config the mpv that mpc-qt uses with these settings or use scripts with it?
Nathan Gonzalez
>It also supports DVD menus MPV doesn't support that?
Ayden Gray
deband-iterations=2 >The number of debanding steps to perform per sample. Each step reduces a bit more banding, but takes time to compute. >Note that the strength of each step falls off very quickly, so high numbers (greater than 4) are practically useless. (Default 1) deband-range=12 >The debanding filter's initial radius. The radius increases linearly for each iteration. A higher radius will find more gradients, but a lower radius will smooth more aggressively. (Default 16) >If you increase the --deband-iterations, you should probably decrease this to compensate.
just embrace mpv. There's a script for playlist management if that's what you need, aside from that most everything is accessible from mpv.
William Turner
muh Win32 API GUI aesthetics tho
Joseph Nguyen
you need to have youtube-dl.exe in the same folder as mpv.exe. Drag twitch link from the browser to mpv window. Dragging thumbnails sometimes doesn't work so you might have to drag the stream link from the address bar.
Landon Morris
functionality over form. Although mpv's form is a lot better than any other player imho. The less I have to see of the player and more of the content I want to watch, the better.
All the installers are now using NSIS ModernUI because the barebones simple one could create explorer lock-up somewhat-rarely for unknown reason and I couldn't fix it.
Also added installers for testing builds of vulkan-rev2 and ra-d3d that shall be kept up to date until they get merged.
ok bye.
Brody Campbell
Probably never, with how much wm4 is losing his shit over haasn's code
Isaiah Davis
Got any more IRC goodies? He hasn't reviewed anything on the PR
Adrian Powell
Why are you spamming that link all the time?
Sebastian Lee
So, when are you all going to grow out of the "having no real, in-depth UI is acceptable" meme? Everyone is pretty tired of your autistic threads.
Christopher Howard
A few days ago the oddshot website was giving ssl errors, now it's working again on my browser but youtube-dl still gives ssl error. How does that work? How 2 fix?
