Xps 15 FHD vs UHD?

xps 15 FHD vs UHD?

more pixels > less pixels

FHD is plenty for that display size. UHD in laptops is literally just showing off with specs and the primary sign of tech illiteracy.

Get a MBP pro instead. The XPS 15 is a POS with multiple QC issues. just search YT.

>having to bend the chassis so the laptop sits flat

UHD takes off 2-3 hours off the battery life, just go check the battery benchmarks of the same laptops with FHD and UHD screens.

is this a good deal?

I've tried the UHD after 6 months of using the FHD. Couldn't tell the difference.
Take into account the difference in battery life and the choice is done for you.

Also is kinda right. You can fix the QC issues through support, but you still should consider a Mac especially if you're going to use Linux on the XPS. I'm getting the Mac soon so I can compare them

Yes

i am not retarded to buy a macbook when i wont use macOS, or play eben medium games.

bump

i got the fhd one.
scaling problems vs no scaling problems
lower battery life vs 10hrs easily
(reflective)glossy vs matte
fhd on a 15" is already good enough mate

also dont need a touch screen on a laptop

HDD tho

I've heard that the build quality of these computers is shit. is this true?

nop, build quality is great -- QC is not

>No Raven Ridge
No deal

X1 Carbon

less money > more money

Full HD is fine on 13 inch laptops, but on a 15 inch is just not enough in my opinion.

It won’t look like shit tho, it’s fine. The XPS 15 is a great laptop, don’t get memed by modern Thinkpads.

FullHD, 4K UHD on laptops is retarded. Both options suck though.

1366x768 is enough for shit notebooks

It's a dual core CPU, don't buy.

It's a laptop

So?
It's a fake i5.
Stay away from EVERY laptop with a U-series Intel.

H – High performance graphics
K – Unlocked
M – Mobile
Q – Quad-core
S – Performance-optimized lifestyle
T – Power-optimized lifestyle
U – Ultra-low power
X – Extreme edition
Y – Extremely low power

HQ - High performance graphics, quad core
MQ / QM - Quad-core mobile
MX - Mobile extreme edition

And the total shit
U - Ultra-low power

>Stay away from EVERY laptop with a U-series Intel.
I stay away from everything above U. It's a mobile device. If I want power, I'll ssh into one of my servers.

>Want performance
>Get lag and delay

So every U-series laptop comes with a powerful server then huh?

>Want performance
>Get lag and delay
What?
>So every U-series laptop comes with a powerful server then huh?
I'd love to see you show me the post where I said that.

It's a laptop, therefore you want it to be a usable device on the go.

Everything you said above goes against that.

>Buh I'll just connect to muh server
Then you're not using a laptop correctly if you end up connecting locally to a server, why not use a fucking tablet instead?

You're probably a poorfag still stuck in the core2duo thinkpad era. U-processors are fast nowadays.

you like to be poor? LOL

>It's a laptop, therefore you want it to be a usable device on the go.
Of course
>Everything you said above goes against that.
Nope
>Then you're not using a laptop correctly
There is no "correct" way to use a laptop
>if you end up connecting locally to a server
Where's this local shit coming from?
>why not use a fucking tablet instead?
No fucking keyboard or trackpad and shitty OS support.

Quote me on accident? I'm arguing in favour of U processors.

I'm using an i5-5350U, so yes it's a shit

A laptop should be able to do things on it's own, not connecting to a fucking server to be usable.

I have an x260 with a i7 6500u. Literally nothing wrong with it. Fastest computer I have ever owned

At our company we have both. FHD is far superior because of the matte display.

get alienware 17 instead, seriously. Kaby lake modler has serious cpu throttling issues and meh keyboard

I have a UHD laptop and kind of regret it. 4k looks nice as fuck but really kills the battery life. Would happily trade mine in for a FHD if I could.

Lelno, you will end upscalling that shit anyways, it's a waste of munny going over 1080p

No it's not.

The 4k display on my XPS 13 is honestly kind of pointless. It barely looks better than when it's at 1080p and some applications still don't scale with it.

Good luck having a 2 hours battery.

Why not Thinkpad P51 tho?

Uhd for the gorilla glass
