I'm about to root my Galaxy S5, but I'm unsure whether to use Magisk or CF-Auto-Root.
Magisk seems a lot easier but seems to have instability issues that stem from it being systemless (losing root privileges if daemon crashes).
CF-Auto-Root seems like a more permanent solution but also one that's easier to fuck up. It also doesn't have Magisk Hide, though I personally don't use many SafetyNet applications at the moment.
Correct me if I'm wrong on any of the above as I'm still learning as I go along, and feel free to suggest which one I should go for, or any alternatives you might have in mind.

I went CF since that's always what I did on all my Samsungs. Just look what build number you are running and download the matching .zip to flash

Sebastian Reed
They're working on it actually
Jaxon Ramirez
Do you need any external programs or can you get root access exclusively through ADB?
Justin Cooper
So this is how it ends - not with a bang, but with a whimper...
Aiden Johnson
I hope both of you are joking

>ADB to root >ADB access is root access >I don't know what root access is

I like SuperSu, but magisk is fine too.

phh superuser because foss
Magisk is ok
Supersu is retard ass "im a fucking faggot" tier software (one of the few actual botnets out there)
Aaron Lewis
I used supersu, but switched to magisk because of suhide actually working there >put phone on cable >boot into fastboot >oem_lock disable (or something like that, I don't do it too often) >flash twrp >boot into twrp >go into sideload mode >adb sideload los.zip >adb sideload magisk.zip >reboot Why exactly would people need tools for that?
Anthony Smith
>SuperSU Enjoy your chink botnet
