What's the fastest and smallest loonix distro and is it faster than windows??

What's the fastest and smallest loonix distro and is it faster than windows??

Yea thought so.

Linux disk calls are faster than windows.
It has proper read ahead, command queuing, and godly write/ read caching.

>thinks he can extract information from us by insulting our beloved OS

My Linux install, on a hard drive, shuts down in like 4 or 5 seconds, and my windows install takes 20 or so. Booting up Linux takes maybe 30, and Windows probably a minute. I don't really think that's a good metric though, so could you clarify what you mean by faster? Or are you just a shitposting fucking faggot?

alpine linux

>installed size 12GB on a the embedded version
All of them.

Any linux without systemd boots up pretty fast.

>Don't even have proper asynchronous file i/o

k kid

Damn Small Linux

literally Gentoo

Or Damn Vulnerable Linux. If you're up for an adventure.

>async output
What is bus contention?

>smallest loonix distro
Download the kernel source.

Use it as a guide to write C code that's functionally equivalent but smaller and more efficient.

Compile it for your architecture.

Do the same thing with GRUB.

Do the same thing with a small handful of vital GNU system utilities and their dependencies.

In this way, build a minimal system with GRUB, init, your shell of choice, your lightweight CLI text editor of choice, your C compiler of choice, valgrind, mount, unmount, fdisk, mkfs, wipefs, tar, su, sudo, login, logout, reboot, cd, ls, lsblk, lspci, ip, ifup, ifdown, wget, mv, cp, cat, dd, echo, all necessary drivers, all dependencies, and literally nothing else, not even a package manager.

Create an EFI partition on a USB drive and extract your extremely minimal system onto it.

Boot into the system.

Completely wipe your hard drive, including the partition table.

Create an EFI partition on your hard drive.

Copy your extracted system to it.

Reboot without the USB plugged in.

Congratulations, you now have the smallest and most efficient reasonably functional GNU/Linux distribution ever made.

>is it faster than windows??
Very, very much so.

Literally anything i3/Budgie/Cinnamon/Xfce

I forgot to mention MATE

>zfs set sync=disabled pool

Puppy Linux, it runs in RAM

you can configure any distro to run from ram if you like

>the only way to beat windows in terms of performance is writing your own os and compiling it

This desu.
>less than 1GB in size by default
>fast as fuck
>RAM resident by default

SOLUS

>smallest
Alpine

>fastest to install & update
Alpine

>fastest at run-time
Gentoo

>What's the fastest and smallest loonix distro and is it faster than windows??
The slowest and biggest Linux distro is faster and smaller than Windows.

You could mine Bitcoins in the background with Linux and it would still be faster in desktop use than Windows.

>implying what one user says to do means that's the only way for linux to be faster
you're really grasping at straws there, user
