What is the best linux distribution, and why is it Gentoo?

GNU + Linux

Debian GNU/Linux

windows xp

It's a newfag filter, and you have full control over it. Pretty sure if you can use it you know how to dodge all Jewish tricks

Because even if you're a retarded noob like me you can set up a nice desktop for you, all you have to do is learn how to read.

State-of-the-art package manager. If you don't /gentoo/, you don't /comfy/.

this.
Can run on anything without too much hassle and be stable as a rock

debian is poeterringed up though.

Gentoo is a funny way to say Debian GNU/Linux

Slackware

Gentoo is great, love the overlays but the maintainance cost is too high.
Every tiny little update requires 2h+ of compiling which means you're gonna get lazy and put off update and put your computer at risk.

Personally i use arch (yes go fuck yourself) because of the AUR.
or Debian for either stability or compatibility

I use Hannah Montana Linux.

install gentoo

>Every tiny little update requires 2h+ of compiling which means you're gonna get lazy and put off update and put your computer at risk.
Even for my shitty garbage computer this is retardedly untrue.
Also, you can keep using your pc during the compilation.

Yup, ChromeOS is amazing

Parabola GNU/Linux

Is it insane to use gentoo on a work machine?

>linux
Typical Linux usr

>postulating an initial open ended question then changing the question to one that seeks validation fir your own opinionated answer to the initial question disregarding that the initial question is open ended and has no definitive correct answer

I use Gentoo on my personal laptop, but at work, I use Ubuntu with i3. I thought about installing Gentoo on it, but then I realized it would take at least 2 days (i5 2500 and a mechanical hdd) to get everything setup without doing any real work.
