Is it worth from switching away from LTSB?

Nope

Give it one more year.

Give it two more years.

I installed it. It seems like they've gone a significant way to re-writing the UI, e.g. the prefences system seems more modern.

Never change a running system

Not yet. Wait until Microsoft removes their anti-cheat botnet that's built into the system.

I haven't even gotten the first creators update

It fucked up Freesync and some other GUI issues to do with D3D fullscreen exclusive. I rolled back.

good, stay that way if you like your computer functioning fine.

You could've just tried disabling game mode/xbox dvr or fullscreen enhancements.

So far my only problem has been the removal of the default power plans from the Power Options. I don't think the new slider adjusts everything the power plans did. But you can still change the power plan in the Mobility Center or with powercfg so it's not a huge loss.

Planning to update for the first time in 2 months, looks like a worthwhile update.

Give it four more years.

>anti cheat
??? This is great. It's basically the same one as Steam

I'm stunned this actually was a success.

No.
Also I wasn't able to reproduce these "gains".

Might be because you're retarded because I even noticed very slight temp improvements.

wait til microsoft fucks up your PC with the newest "update"

Sup Forums's hateboner for Microsoft is hilarious

How is this even possible?

Magic

For gaymen, the only reason to use Windows? Probably. People have noticed signficantly better performance even in emulators.

youtube.com/watch?v=pEFOPugd2FA

They've been doing a lot of work behind the scenes updating DWM and WDDM. They even fixed a bug that was annoying me and had existed since Windows 8 in the latest update, where DX9 games could only use 4GB of VRAM. It really only affected heavily-modded Skyrim, but they did the work all the same. If it wasn't for the botnet, Windows 10 would be adored compared to past versions, given how much it's improved.

download the creation tool and select the upgrade.

...

Oh so this is why my disc usage is through the fucking roof
Thanks MS
I really wish these updates were voluntary
And that I could switch to Linux without losing out on vidja gaems

its pretty guud op. manually updated to it since microsoft didn't roll it out to my system during the initial batch.

noticed a boost in all my games with my 1800x and rx 480 with game mode enabled. creators update also brought some scheduling improvements for ryzen as well thats unrelated to game mode. so i guess if you're on ryzen at least its worth upgrading to.

tldr me, what did they change to squeeze out more performance?

>I really wish these updates were voluntary

They are?

FYI you don't need gaym mode on

/ourguy/ likes it

youtu.be/x1tkamF-yYM

So will I see any benefit on an older gpu like an r9 fury?

7 user here wondering why you sad souls do this to yourselves.
I don't know who that faggot is.

>I don't know who that faggot is

Be less new

>hear fat fuck talk about game mode
>try to use it
>press win +G
>doesnt do anything
nice windows 10

Be less of a faggot.

There aren't many new things in terms of features.

You might as well skip this update or just get security updates.

>not knowing the guy who found out how to upgrade your PS3 to a ps4

/OurOS/

Impossible. Please vanish up your own ass.

Why is the download not over ssl?

Every day, I stray further towards Linux's light

>install loonux
>everything JUST WERKZ
microcunts will never know this feel lmoaaaaaaaaa

all versions are the same

>install loonux
>everything JUST WERKZ
The fuck universe are you living in?

>install shitnux on modern hardware
>nothing works

holy fuck you're stupid. the guy was a Sup Forums laughing stock forever

again be less new

not even a botnet fag but this is false

on my new laptop, ath10k constantly causes weird shit to happen and throws kernel stack traces all the fucking time or the shitty firmware throws weird messages about how it can't load the firmware or some bullshit and i have to reboot.

I'm not here 24/7 like you are. Enjoy feeling elite and being an actual faggot in reality.

I bet you don't even see the irony in your post.

And then push out steam and steam will be Linux/apple only distrib software. And you either go with Micrsoft xbox windows edition or switch to Linux.

how fucking new are you?

0% performance increase here. i7 4770K + RX Vega 56

I believe this will only affect Ryzen users. Intel users will notice no games performance increase.

>be running Windows 7
>Microsoft made my xbone controllers not work over wireless again trying to force me into win10

They'll just stop connecting and once they stop one time they will not connect anymore without a fresh windows install. Fixing windows shit since 3.1 and I cannot understand or fix this.

Fatty boom boom is using a 7700K though.

No fucking idea then. I saw 0% improvement. I tested a couple of DX11 games before and after.

People in the comments are saying they've got a performance boost too. Time to wait and see if any other benchmarks find this happening.

I never win at anything. Witcher 3 shows exactly the same FPS after fall update. Tried updating the AMD drivers. Tried game mode on and off. It does fuck all for me.

>IT'S TOTALLY A CONSPIRACY GUISE!!!!1

Could just be that people fucked with settings and the update reverted them. That's why I am going to wait and see what other benchmarks say.

I just did this to put Windows on my used Thinkpad. I wonder if I automatically get the fall update.

If you have vega cards, maybe.

win10 recently wrecked this computer. It won't even boot in windows, I have to use linux, which is fine except that all my files and stuff are on windows and I don't know how to access them or recover windows without a disk

You're honestly a retarded person if you think MS wouldn't stealth break unfixable niche things.

Windows has a repair disc you can make or download and yes you can put it on usb.

microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

>Create Windows 10 installation media
>Download tool now
>create media installation for another computer
>blah blah blah, usb drive, etc
>boot from usb
>you will quickly get a repair computer option at the bottom in small print after a few prompts

you have to enable the gamebar first

Linux mint has this superpower

This gave me so much stress in how slow it was on the first raspberry pi. I knew then that if their goal was to get 3rd worlders to program on it that they would fail and actually create child soldiers and a higher suicide rate.

Thats why you dont keep umportant files on the same drive you install your os

He does not say what processor he is using. It says 8 cores in the video but who knews what he is actually using. Thus far all the increases I have seen posted by users are with Ryzen systems.

A website says they removed it now, now your PC just says pic related, its always available

but I dont see how to turn it on when in game, it still does nothing

Eight threads, not eight cores. There are no (viable) CPUs with eight cores and eight threads, which means it must be a four core chip with SMT/Hyperthreading. The only Ryzen CPUs it could be are the 1400 or 1500X, which would be a weird choice for a benchmarking rig.

You have to go from fullscreen to windowed or fullscreen borderless. Then do win+g. You cannot see it otherwise.

I did, tried PUBG and (((CSGO)))

Dunno then m8. Check the game bar is enabled in Win10 settings.

7700K/1070 here. I saw a difference. Maybe try turning on game mode? Could also depend on the game.

Has MS just fully blocked people without subscriptions from viewing MSDN Downloads' metadata? I just want to check the hash of the rtm isos, but going to msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/downloads/ forces me to sign into a MS account, and then just redirects to a bunch of MSVS garbage.

Buy a Macbook Pro.

xbone controllers were W10 exclusive from the start, this is your own fault if you tried to make them work

Is there any way to switch back to 10 after changing out a motherboard? I gave up on 10 after the first creator's update I think, the computer would freeze as soon as you right click, or something like that.

I don't want to have to call a poo representative if I decide to switch back like an idiot.

If you have disabled Windows Updates, you bet. Make sure if you are running a laptop to get this update.

Linux mint works great just don't run it on a pi...
Updates will happen and are often a pain in the ass in Linux too.. Especially Mint where dependencies are vocalized to the user (WTF why would you do this).

This solves nothing and Apple is noncompliant with many RFCs as of late, their iOS adjacent mobile platform is severely broken as of late (speaks largely to their developer practices as a whole as of late).

Fresh install Windows 10 and use a cloud service to abstract your data from your operating system. Its clear that you have some knowledge on Windows but perhaps baby steps- keep things safe while you explore OSes. Win10 not working on your machine seems like a PBCAK error - problem between chair and keyboard.

No, I got the MSDN 1709 ISO.

Well how do I find the hashes then? A link would be nice.

You can't unless you sign in.

I am signed in, the link I posted just redirects me to visualstudio.com

You need a MSDN subscription account.

Yeah, well I was very clearly asking if it was possible without an account You used to be able to look at the list of downloads and their hashes without one.

I tested it on R6S with my ancient PC. I get weird stuttering and input lag yet FPS go from 83 to 92. It's still unplayable though. Also after a while of messing with the game bar both my keyboard and mouse get no input. Any ideas to fix this?

Cap your fps to 60.

operating systems have game modes now? Shouldn't they always perform well regardless of what the function is?

What if I have a 144hz screen?

If you aren't getting 120fps+ (given the post I replied to indicates an fps of 80 to 90) then it doesn't matter. That is the downside of non*sync 144hz screens - if you can't push 120 you might as well cap at 60 if your frametimes are fucked.

Yes, but the retarded Sup Forums babbys keep running bloatware in the background, so MS came up with some shit that gives games a higher priority.
It has no benefit on a properly configured PC.

Watching fucking Joker, this lard ass has been proven a liar and unprofessional benchmarker.

A quick test in a badly, badly optmised game (wreckfest) has netted me approx 10fps on minimums and same again on the maximum when running a 3.8ghz ryzen 7 and a 290x.

I will have to do more testing on other games that don't run too well to see if it makes the same difference but this bodes well for a few titles where i'm just shy of a 60fps lock.

Here is another side of the coin. I wish it was true but I'm not updating from my LTSB based on one video with a fucking Vega 56.
youtube.com/watch?v=XHQwIlKcvNA

Anticheat PFHAHAHA MORE SPYING FOR FUCKING HAMSTERS.

I've held off Windows 10 because I know at SOME point they're going to start dicking with my pirated software.

I'm not exactly MADE of money, and don't exactly care to buy into Adobes new goy tax business model for photoshop. One day I'll log in after an update and nothing will work anymore.

I won't be able to do anything about it and will only have myself to blame for trusting botnet 10. Say what you will about piracy, I like knowing I have control over MY OWN SYSTEM.

>"It didn't change performance for people that already figured out to disable fullscreen optimization from last creator's which could have big problems for people (Joker was probably one of them)"

Fucking NEETS can't even figure out how to use group policies. I just update when I want if I want. Still on anniversary though.
