Can you be more precise? Sounds like you want geometry, autofit or autofit-larger
Noah Phillips
Use youtube-dl for this.
Luis Gonzalez
That has fuck-all to do with anything
Aaron Thompson
I am.
Jace Clark
What are the advantages using MPV over MPC-HC?
Ian Butler
Anime girls.
Bentley Jenkins
wm4 really isn't happy huh
>Seems like in the end it's always me who has to clean up other people's bullshit.
Nathaniel Young
If you use it you can join the circlejerk club here. Someone will jerk you off while you discuss the best way to configure your plain text file to try to get your media player to actually work.
Anthony Foster
absolute shit
John Watson
No one is on his level. It must be tiresome to always be correcting people.
Dylan Nelson
did he mention this in the original vo_gpu PR?
James Cooper
>when the commit message is larger than the actual commit someone is pissed
Ian Hall
>cross platform >lighter on resources while getting the same quality as mpc+madvr+xysubfilter >active development (new features being implemented) >able to customize it more >scripts available that let you do things mpc cant (see OP for link) probably more that I left out too
Sebastian Ward
These /mpv/ threads are possibly the best user support an open source project has ever gotten. I'd be lying if the convenience and helpfulness of these threads wan't a major factor in my decision to use mpv.
Charles Butler
Since mpchc died I decided to give mpv a try. So I just downloaded it and I haven't configured anything. What are those configurations you guys discuss on these threads? Am I'm missing something I need to configure?
Oliver Kelly
meant for
Cameron Myers
check the OP
Oliver Sullivan
wm4 is always right
Aaron Adams
nah that's just good practice and part of mpv's contribution guidelines github.com/mpv-player/mpv/blob/master/DOCS/contribute.md >The body of the commit message (everything else after the subject line) should be as informative as possible and contain everything that isn't obvious. Don't hesitate to dump as much information as you can - it doesn't cost you anything. Put some effort into it. If someone finds a bug months or years later, and finds that it's caused by your commit (even though your commit was supposed to fix another bug), it would be bad if there wasn't enough information to test the original bug. The old bug might be reintroduced while fixing the new bug.
Daniel Murphy
It's funny because all of that horseshit was added because he kept rejecting haasn's proposals; which he ended up implementing himself anyway
Daniel Sanchez
Why do we have threads about mpv? Just install it and use it, what is there to talk about?
Xavier Adams
>mpchc died It didn't. It's a front-end for LAV and madVR and the only feature I can think of that it's missing is an ability to set compression level for screenshots. So it's not like there's much to update. "Dead" MPC-HC has more useful features than anything else does so there's no reason to switch until something surpasses it. Looking how open source generally works, that will probably be another 10 years.
Liam Young
Why do we have threads about GPUs? Just plug in and play games, what is there to talk about?
Grayson Butler
>"Dead" MPC-HC has more useful features than anything else does such as?
Charles Price
Linked mkv support Chapter names The ability to choose your filters Screenshots in various resolutions Brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation adjustments DVD menu support And a GUI for everything.
Charles Lopez
>Linked mkv support True, although anything worth downloading doesnt use this. There are frontends though >Chapter names I see them in mpv >The ability to choose your filters Not sure about this, but I imagine you can in mpv. >Screenshots in various resolutions Pretty sure you can do this in mpv. Change the window size. >Brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation adjustments Can change these in mpv >DVD menu support mpv doesnt have this. Physical media is dying so not much of a loss. plus there are frontends. >And a GUI for everything. Again there are frontends. But having a gui limits the options mpv is capable of.
Why would anyone use linked mkvs over ordered chapters?
Owen Rivera
Use PotPlayer.
Cooper Ward
I've somewhat figured it out.
I don't want any video to overlap the bottom taskbar. I've figured out a setting for this but my smaller res videos appear off-centered, too much to the top when I open them which triggers me.
tl;dr make videos to scale within the taskbar, and have all videos appear in the center..
that's what i want..
here's my current settings which almost works:
--autofit-larger=1366x738 --geometry=50%:3%
(bottom taskbar is only 30pixels high)
Andrew Sullivan
4 clicks or a simple paste is a wee bit easier than finding the exact length of each segment and needing to QC each join.
Colton King
>FIRE "codec" Why does this exist? Who made it, and why? Why does Quicktime even support this?
So I can't figure out how to get mpv to save the previous volume level. It always starts at 100% volume and I have to turn volume down manually. I've looked through the manual and everything. Anyone help?
Easton Jenkins
>wiki.multimedia.cx/index.php/FIRE >Only one sample of this codec type exists (logo.mov, linked above). kek Now I want to know how this got into vimeo's upload queue.
Xavier Wright
volume=whateveryouwant
Cooper Cooper
Probably somebody deliberately fucking with them. Maybe a media dev who wondered if vimeo would handle it.
I really want to know how code for it came into existence and continues to exist (quicktime on my mac was able to convert it, hence the webm) if there is only one extant example of such a file.
Levi Ross
>whateveryouwant Doesn't work: The volume option must be a floating point number or a ratio (numerator[:/]denominator): anime-tiddies
Dylan Clark
you are very literal arent you than follow the instructions it gave you
Luis Parker
It put in what I wanted, anime tiddies.
Justin Cruz
My mistake, user. Try a number between 1 and 100.
Sebastian Richardson
Put in the first 10,000 digits of pi.
Tyler Peterson
Is there any way to scrobble to trakt.tv automatically?
This doesn't answer my question. I want mpv to behave as other media players where when I open mpv, the volume is set to the same level it was when I closed it last.
This site has a demo with the fire codec, but apparently it uses some extra software so I'm not sure you can get it to work: vrhotwires.com/VRSUPPORT.HTM#demos
This site has two demos with the ripple codec at the very bottom. Please tell me you can make those work to, I want to see a video file react to user input (It's basically Flash, but still): vrhotwires.com/Bill_Meikle/Movies/Movies.html
Connor Williams
Just close it at the same level you have it set to open.
Jeremiah Bailey
you're just throwing random numbers out there. not all videos are the same resolution and those settings do nothing to address the taskbar on the bottom the program seems to forget is there
Zachary Smith
>This site has two demos with the ripple codec at the very bottom. Please tell me you can make those work to, I want to see a video file react to user input (It's basically Flash, but still): vrhotwires.com/Bill_Meikle/Movies/Movies.html No interaction seems to happen with my version of Quicktime. Quicktime immediately "converts" the file upon opening, with webm related result.
Julian Hernandez
Shame. Does that happen with the other file too?
Connor Gutierrez
Yeah, same thing.
It also converts the fire codec one too before rendering it.
Ian Peterson
This is not required by other media players. It seems mpv can't do this? Maybe I'll just switch back to smplayer.
Bentley Nguyen
Just use your system's volume mixer like a normal person.
Brody Russell
good idea desu thanks senpai
Parker Hall
Are you really that incompetent? Where the fuck is UI scaling, you stupid niggers?
Nathaniel Turner
Ok, i've been trying all day to get this shit working. I'm on windows btw
Basically what i want is, to play a video file, and for mpv to load subtitles from a subfolder (called subtitles, subs or whatever) for that file.
What do i throw into the mpv.conf for this? I tried --sub-paths=ass:srt:sub:Sub:subs:Subs:subtitles:Subtitles But it's still not working.
This is just basically so i don't have subtitle files in with the actual videos, because that looks ugly as fuck.
Logan Gutierrez
Works on my machine, your config is probably full of copy pasted shit that breaks everything
Carson Ortiz
Post screenshot.
Benjamin Clark
Emms, my music player, opens up a window of mpv displaying the track's album cover each time it plays a track. I don't know anything about mpv, but I imagine the quickest way to fix this would be to prevent mpv from creating a window every time a certain mime type is opened. Is there a way to do that?
Noah Collins
how do I get the window to stop automatically resizing to fit the content? I just want to have it in specific spot and size. Geometry and autofit only work on newly opened files and are ignored when applied to profiles. What's up with all of this?
Thomas Wilson
>Geometry and autofit only work on newly opened files and are ignored when applied to profiles. Werks for me.
Josiah Thompson
Check filenames of subs and videos. They have to be identical.
Brayden Wilson
Poor wm4... FOSS is hard today...
Chase Smith
>you who do you think you're talking to?
Lucas Howard
How to add "open link with mpv" to right-click menu in browser?
Jack Edwards
bind ;m hint links spawn -d mpv {hint-url} hth
Jonathan Reed
I just installed this and set up everything but I always get 4 mistimed frames. Is this normal or do I have to adjust my config?
