Want to use linux really bad

>want to use linux really bad
>can't get away from windows because of FL Studio and Ableton
>can't dual boot because even 1 minute (shut down + windows boot time) could make me lose the glimpse of the music i wanna write down
>can't use a DAW in a WM or in Wine because the performance sucks and it's literally impossible to play live (latency is too big)
>can't have two computers because of space and money
>don't wanna use a "linux alternative" because FL and Ableton are the standard and there is so much support and resources around for them
>mfw

sorry for the blogpost

Sounds like the clearest case of "kill yourself" I've ever heard of

>1 minute (shut down + windows boot time)
maybe on a HDD from 1995

>having only one pc

Take your own advice

Can't you just use mixing decks insted?

If windows has to update i could wait hours, and still, having those programs on an OS other than my main-always-up OS is a big disincentive to make music

What do you mean? Mixing desks can't replace a DAW

>install ssd
>install pirated windows 7 with windows updates disabled

wow that was a hard one to solve

i swear when they release Live and Pro Tools for Linux i'm done with Windows forever.

oh, and GPU drivers that arent shit.

As long as you don't use it for playing games the drivers are fine. Even AMD got decent drivers recently. Did you check them out?

just hack into the programs' source code and port it to linux, silly

1. electronic music is not real music
2. get a mac, all benefits of linux but you can run both

Have you tried bitwig?

Live is ultimate for songwriting, because of the advanced warp/time stretch functions. and you can switch to session mode to throw around sections like in a sandbox.

>If windows has to update
>enable metered connection
>no more updates
Now that wasn't so hard, was it? I seriously don't get how anyone still strugles with this.

people didn't need this before

linux is useless for any work that isn't IT related, I still use Windows for the same reason

>can't have two computers because of space and money
You could look into getting a NUC. The lower-end ones are pretty affordable.

hurr durr but muh beatles and hendrix

Johann Sebastian Bach would've literally butchered and devoured his own children's brains for the chance of composing on a DAW and not on paper scraps, brainlet

>1. electronic music is not real music
1. electronic music IS real music, and a pretty nice genre too
2. using DAW's doesn't imply you make electronic music

PCI/usb passthrough an audio interface and a video card and have virtualization with fast latency and native performance desktop graphics (no overhead).

why not run your nonfree software in a vm?

have you checked if you can run fl studio and ableton using wine (windows interpreter not emulator)

>FL and Ableton are the standard
>/b

why stop there.
there are no usable drivers for most audio interfaces and/or DSPs. they're already acting weird on windows and mac many times.
so youre still fucked even if Ableton decided to work on it

Did you even read the op

Thanks, maybe this is the only useful advice here
