Linux distro which just works

I want to it to work and that's all I need. I don't want to spend time configuring it, because it doesn't work.

doesn't exist, just use windows or macos

windows 10

Ubuntu

What about xubuntu or openSUSE?

Noobuntu

For the most part, Ubuntu will probably just work. I've used Ubuntu for the past 5-6 years without major complaints. I switched to using Gnome as my DE nearly 2 years ago I think.
But yesterday I tried to upgrade to Ubuntu 17.10, and things just got fucked.

I switched over to Debian 9 testing (with non-free firmware), and it has just worked where Ubuntu 17.10 did not.

Overall, I suspect Ubuntu is a better bet, but I'd wait a bit before trying 17.10 at least.

slackware

windows 10

Manjaro KDE

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. You'll still need to get your hands dirty once in a while if you expect to do anything beyond your typical grandma on Windows stuff. It's about the easiest alternative you'll find simply because of the piss easy installation and documentation. Ultimately though, if you have two brain cells or more, you can get pretty much any mainstream distro to work just as well. I use Ubuntu desktop and server, Arch, as well as bunch of lesser known crap on a proxmox setup, it's all the same. But, yeah, Ubuntu is a good start. Just don't get caught up in trying to look cool. Get used to things before you start tweaking unimportant things like themes and such.

ZorinOS Lite, the only thing to do is install and enable Compton which is done in less than a minute.

unironically antergos if thats the case
arch if your fine with spending an hour or two configuring

Have you tried gentoo, good sir?

Solus.

Trust me user.

Solus is THE most just werks distro.

>Linux distro which just works.
Since you didn't elaborate on what "works" means to you I suggest burning some live dvd images and experiment.
Ubuntu is usually pretty friendly for novices.
I use Debian 9.2 with xfce desktop.
The desktop thing is the most confusing for making a choice I think. Just google different distros and view screenshots and pick a few.
Linux is pretty bland vanilla generic across all DE's and Distros.
It's not like one is fucking awesome.
Nice thing is you can customize the hell out of it. Unlike windows and macfag.

Linux Mint is perfect for you. Best choice if you're making the move from Windows. Solus is good too, but its repository is too small for me.

yes, because solus devs peer review packages, mint developers don't.

Mint is probably the most exploitable major linux distro out there atm.

Kubuntu

Fedora 26. My sister installed it over the phone and never have had any problems with it, neither have I.

Xubuntu
