Are you behind isp nat?

Nice blog OP

>Are you behind isp nat?
yes

I am shitting my pants that somehow i have been compromised and i cant ping from a fucking local machine to another and it sends me to a public ip from fucking Ireland when trying to ping a local device

leave and never come back

>muh weebs
SA is that way.

are you running an unsecure ssh server on your laptop or something?

uhhhhhh

open the dam ports you dumb weeb

another thread died for this shit

are you running any type of server or program that lets others connect to your computer? regardless format your laptop, reinstall xubuntu and setup a firewall, make sure all your ports are closed. google is your friend

We are filled to the fucking brim with shill threads

Only ssh and mysql

do you have ssh secured? fail2ban, root login disabled, long password or public/private keys authentication and non-default ssh port?

>linux
>laptop
>internet
I'm not entirely sure of what you were expecting.

>see auth.log
>bunch of chinks trying to get in

FUCK

Well there you go, disconnect that machine from the internet and reinstall, since obviously they got in. This time do everything mentioned in . Changing your default ssh port will get rid of 95% of all those chinks, using fail2ban, a firewall, and a strong password or ssh keys will get rid of the rest

oh and for the love of God DISABLE LOGIN AS ROOT OVER SSH

Why the fuck is a linux machine having this problem?

>check /var/log
>tons of ssh attempts

>start up a gmod server
>within half an hour it gets prop spammed to death
>i come back to scorch marks on everything and a frozen game

Because he left his ssh server unsecure and let the chinks in, now hes a part of the chineese botnet

>disable remote root
This. Or make the password really long and hard to guess.

>Try to ping 192.168.1.66
>get From 77.67.70.101 icmp_seq=5 Destination Net Unreachable
Why in the ever loving fuck am i getting a response from fucking ireland?
THe auth.log shows the chinks attempting to get inside but i already closed all ports and it still throws me to ireland.
Why?

Why don't you try nmap'ing it or seeing if it has a domain name?

That's normal.

Is that from The Tatami Galaxy?

All its ports are filtered, it did resolve the IP to pic related though

your gateway needs to be configured, otherwise its sending an ARP request to your ISP.

your router should know its an internal network anyway (if your local address starts with 172, 192 or 10.0)

is your gateway configured?

>unsecure secure shell
what did he meant by this

>is your gateway configured?
Nope
I factory reseted it and havent set up any port forwarding for like 2 months.

I still dont know why a spic like me would have to ftch a ARP request to fucking ireland

If you are a fucking retard like me running it on th default port and with a shitty password it can be quite problematic with chinks trying to take it down every 5 mins

lul fucking n00bs hey!

he probably meant telnet? but who tf uses that nowadays

well if OPs shit was all set to defaults then you bet your ass its an unsecure secure shell

>running it on th default port and with a shitty password
You didn't fix it yet? fucking hell OP

>ARP request to fucking ireland
your ISP's DHCP is probably in ireland? who knows.

if you're using factory settings on your router then whats the problem??

m8, ur fucked

Even if his ISP's DHCP is in ireland he still has a weak ssh setup, he should fix that before his computer actually does get fucked by the botnet

SSH uses RSA to generate its keys. It's secure when you set it up. You can't set it up insecurely.

ssh itself is secure, but the way OP goes about managing logging in isn't. Just read >default port
>weak password
>no fail2ban
>root login most likely enabled

yeah but they still need to have your private key.

when i try to ping the same faulty local address with my goyphone data it throws me to california

you have to generate a key first though, it defaults to a password

>Xubuntu
Found your problem

What is fail2ban?

>fail2ban

Bans faggots who try too much to log into your computer

no, seriously. read this

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Shell

then read the section on key generation here
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSA_(cryptosystem)

I heard it was good idea to have that one other option. Reject or something.

Is having a strong root password and ufw ON (default settings deny/allow) enough for normal person? I don't run ssh or anything.

Missing the point
