Amazon

Why is Amazon such an oppressive place to work?

they know they have a large supply of workers who'd love to have a job there. Both in the white-collar technical positions and in the blue-collar warehouse jobs (which they're automating away anyway) hence they have no real reason to be a pleasant place to work, they can afford to chew people up and spit them out.

Fun Fact: this is true of lots of employers.

It's obviously to prevent nigger employees from stealing large items.

Biggest problems businesses have is stealing.

The CEO is a libertarian who doesn't give a shit about people, just cutting costs.

That trickles down easily.

>It like neocolonialism all over again

nobody gives a shit about people unless they know them personally. libertarians just admit it.

Pretty much. I worked at one and it's just another warehouse. Was going to stay and try to move up but found another job.

It's warehouse work. Every single warehouse and factory is oppressive and always has been. The employees are expendable pains in the ass for the business.

Unfortunately most people bitching started at McDonalds or some other minimum wage job and don't know what hard work really is. Trust me, fast food, retail, and other service industries are fucking cake compared to manufacturing and warehousing.

Yeah, right. Libertarians have the shittiest families. The look at marriage purely as a matter of contract. A family is a temporary and voluntary assembly of individuals. They think there is nothing that cannot be bought and sold. Nothing is sacred for them. They're disgusting niggers.

> Trust me, fast food, retail, and other service industries are fucking cake compared to manufacturing and warehousing.

I've never done either, but I'm interested. I presume effort, quality and attention to details matters more in manufacturing, but is there anything else? after all a large portion of that billion-people nation is in the business.

Sr PM here, based in Seattle. Ask me anything.

can't find the letter, but there was a woman that complained her warehouse job was too lonely and her day was boring. claimed she wasn't paid enough for her apartment (she stayed by herself).

Is it true that everyone is a psychopath?

For blue collar? I guess
For my white collar software development engineer job? It's pretty comfy.

Anyone who wants to move up in this company is a psychopath, absolutely. None of the Indians can properly walk and it's always so god damn crowded - they just stop and spin around like they forgot something and run into you.

There are some cool people who are content doing what they are doing, keep things running, and don't try to throw anyone under the bus to move up. But not many of them. I will be long gone by year 4.

>a family is a temporary and voluntary group of individuals
well it actually is

GLOBALISTS REEEEEE

Worked 70 hours a week plus 2 nights on-call shift while on a DevOps team for AWS.

Took a $10k a year paycut to work regular 9 to 5 sysadmin job for a large bank. No regrets.

>Why is Amazon such an oppressive place to work?

Because you want shit for peanuts and you want it yesterday.

where are my panties and buttplug REEEEEEE

>They think there is nothing that cannot be bought and sold
This is true though

>70 hours a week plus 2 nights on-call
that's fucking inhumane

>Why is Amazon such an oppressive place to work?
I know amazon employees. They say the complete opposite, and they always get to travel to somewhere exciting.

Your fault for working AWS. Retail is pretty comfy.

...

Everyone I know who ever worked at Amazon quit. This was enough for me to turn down their offer.

To be fair, the average tenure at most of the large tech companies is only about a year.

Wow u pdum huh

This

What about the IT side of Amazon warehouses? There's an opening in my city

Lots and lots of sneks are about to be tread on until all their pathetic little bones in their degenerate bodies are broken. Lolbertarians get the gas too.

My time working in a steel mill that just barely followed any kind of safety regulations under a Jewish boss made me into a hardcore NatSoc. I fucking hate capitalists. They're degenerate filth that will exploit workers like they're nothing and pay them peanuts.

Exactly

Yeah, and those are usually contractors to get around giving benefits.
When a company has a reputation like this it's usually for a good reason.

Is Amazon better for a career or a job?
I figure your answer will be "it depends on who you are" as per your answer to this question . So what I'm wondering is what pays better over 10 or 15 years: Using Amazon as a stepping stone to a better job at a "less prestigious" company or climbing Amazon's corporate ladder?

Ladder if you dont want to take risks. Amazon has a 95% chance of still being around in 10 years which is more than most startups can say

Did warehouse for Amazon warehouse that had the robots. Place is literally hell on earth.

You're standing for 2+ hour blocks and they demand that you work nonstop at a rate of picking 380+ items per hour. That's 8 seconds per item. 40lb item? Doesn't matter, 8 seconds. Tiny little shit item in a pile of opaque gray bags that all have different items? Doesn't matter, 8 seconds. Item is at the very top of the shelf and requires a ladder or is at the bottom and requires you to kneel or squat? Doesn't matter, 8 seconds.

Over the course of a shift that's over 2000 stairs climbed up and down and over 1000 squats.

And if you don't make that 380 an hour? Constant daily badgering about your speed. Even if you're going at 90% their required speed.

Couldn't leave that shithole fast enough.

Do you get /fit/?

...

t. non-traditional individualist

I didn't stay long enough to. Ended up being the same weight at the end of the month because I was eating so much more just the get through the 10 hour shifts.

It was good exercise I suppose but fuck that rate requirement. They literally have a 60% turnover for the warehouse positions, and very likely due exactly to this rate retardation. They're raking in cash by the billions but can't afford to hire on 30% more warehouse positions so that people in the warehouse don't have to work like slaves under a whip.

Someone on Sup Forums told me Amazon was a good wageslave job
>13.50 an hour
>Work 3 days a week but 12 hours a day
>People are lazy and don't want to do their job
>Can be autismo if you lack the social skills

I only started 6 months ago as a dev so maybe its too early for me to tell but so far I have 0 complaints.

>>People are lazy and don't want to do their job
You will be worked harder than you have ever been in your life.

I used to work at Amazon, quit after 3 months, it really was that bad

>None of the Indians can properly walk and it's always so god damn crowded - they just stop and spin around like they forgot something and run into you.

I work at Microsoft, same shit here.

Most people wait till they fully vest their shares and gtfo.

Having Amazon on your resume gets you hired anywhere else.

>Having Amazon on your resume gets you hired anywhere else.

No, they think you're a cuck and will not budge on salary negotiation.

$1000 in shares ain't worth staying in that hellhole for two years.

I wouldn't know. I don't work there.

>Amazon
The very definition of the rat race.

Because they can be.
Companies have no reason to intrinsically care about employees. They only care about $$.

There's all kinds of number crunching done to figure out the least expensive way to get the work they need. In Amazon's case, they figure that since they have a line of people willing to work there, they can pay them slightly more and work them to death to extract maximum labor out of them.

Employee compensation is positively correlated to scarcity of the employee needed. Low-level embedded developers aren't exactly common, so they command a higher wage and better working condition than box stackers in a warehouse.

If capitalism runs its course without interference, corporations jockey to exploit workers to the maximum extent. That's how we got to the point in the early 1900s of children working 60 hours a week in factories. The government, representing the people, is supposed to place limits on businesses ensuring the welfare of the people.

The problem we are facing now is that our government has been so thoroughly bought out by business. It is more than ever looking out for the interests of businesses, which leaves the people basically powerless against the corporations.

Why are Americans OK with this? It's multipart. Americans are generally what you'd call "temporarily embarrassed millionaires". That is, to say, they don't identify with the economic class they're actually in. They identify with where they'd like to be, because nobody wants to admit they're working class.
Additionally, the public has been fed the lie of "trickle down economics"/"what's good for business is what's good for you" for decades now, to the point where people actually believe that big tax breaks for the rich are a good thing.

Who runs the media that feeds everyone this narrative? A certain class of people with a lot of wealth.

>Worked 70 hours a week plus 2 nights on-call
0/10, would rather deliver pizza and live in the hood.

Most of America's problems are class-based, not race-based. Almost every major issue has a million-dollar company manipulating politics in one way or the other.

>Biggest problem is small-time thievery
>and CEOs are honestest people

So working a job turned you into a spoiled manchild whom wants everything just handed to him, I see...

If American economy is bad then why is America the most prosperous nation on Earth with most prosperous people and the cheapest available goods?
>muh bad business
>evil companies would do anything to give me what i want as cheaply as possible

Fucking commie, gas yourself.

A fucking steel mill skirting safety regulations is a bit more than your 6 hour "ice cream machine broke" shift.

It's hot, exhausting, dangerous work, and if safety isn't adhered to, you run the very real risk of losing a limb, your face, or your life.

>with most prosperous people
user America has enough poverty to be in top 5 for developed nations

Thank goodness they didn't give me a second interview
>tfw too dumb to be worked to death

>the most prosperous nation on Earth
Because we're the biggest 1st world country. The EU is roughly on par with the US in terms of economic power.
Also, we financed and facilitated the rebuilding of the developed world after WWII, which turned out to be really fucking profitable.
The US economy, as a percentage of the world economy, has been on a downward trend since the 50s.

>with most prosperous people
Go fucking visit Appalachia and tell me that a large portion of the US isn't living in poverty.
The average American family has something like $5k in savings.

>muh bad business
>evil companies would do anything to give me what i want as cheaply as possible
>Fucking commie, gas yourself.

Call me some more names, that will really prove your point!

Nice spooks faggot

fuck no, Libss know their hot wives are the factory that their little genetic offspring and self a assemble the love and rear them.

Libs, know the true worth of a hot woman and will lavish upon her every bit of love, firmness, kindness they can. They know the value and return on investment it brings

>cheapest available goods
i don't know what you're talking about, shit is goddamn expensive here, chinese crap is way cheaper

It's not. Just entitled socialists and lazy degenerates whining.

Fuck off, communist. Your retarded economic system does not work. Go and live in Venezuala

5K in saveings is sfa

Go work some other mill or whatever.
You're saying it like somebody fucking made you do it.
You worked the unsafe mill because you chose to do it.
America has a very special definituon of powerty defined by commies
The sort of powerty with food, smartphones, air conditioning and cars.
Americans are being "homeless" in their cars renting hotel rooms to take a shower

In some other country yo're not considered enpoverished if you get more than 1$ a day and the level of powerty is often defined like less money than the cost of the cheapest food (not adjusted for inflation)

>chinese crap is way cheaper
Europe pays ripoff taxes for tgeir chinkshit.

why did you fucking leave then dumbshit

>Americans are being "homeless" in their cars renting hotel rooms to take a shower
Nah, when I was homeless I had to live in a shelter and never knew whether I'd get in on any given night
Rather difficult to work on education and job interviews when you don't have an address or any money to get around

5k in savings because of non existent planning and rampant consumerism, not a lack of income.

>$5k in savings.
Fucking kek.

Typical amerifat has no savings period.

In Appalachia they just have too many fatass inbred kids

It's definitely busy. I felt bad for the older people that couldn't keep up.

Try 100K in shares.

I worked here (blue collar, warehouse level) for a little under 2 years, they give you stock in Amazon after the 2 year mark but they fired me a day before I got my benifets. Can't do shit because Commiefornia is an at will employment state :^)

Yes,every libertarian is a heartless jew that would sell their own family for a paperclip.
Now you're done with your generalizations fuck off back to Sup Forums

I used to work in RV manufacturing and then got let off so I scored a mcdonalds job. Can honestly say mcdonalds overwork you more than an RV maker. They're brutal.

It's pretty boring but it's not like all the horror stories you've read here so far.

should have seen it coming and went on sick leave

>>and CEOs are honestest people
>he thinks we're in a movie
>he hasn't heard of modern ethics practices
Since Enron, CEOs don't get away with shit.
You can really tell who didn't study business, by the way they insert knowledge obtained from hollywood.
Niggers stealing company supplies is a huge deal, and companies do a lot to prevent it.

>hardcore NatSoc
>hates capitalism
I don't think you understand what you're talking about.

the eternal jew.
