Tfw can’t touch type

>tfw can’t touch type

who /typelet/ here?

i can touch-type on my laptop but i suck on my expensive mechanical keyboard on my desktop

i usually just use voice input when i can

suicide

Yewg not a big isshe anyway.
Shut i:m really bad at this.
>Type random shit without using backspace onxe

but why?

>he fell for the click-clack meme

I can only do it if I don't think about it
If I do, I'm completely unable

i type at 120 wpm, get on my level you little underage faggots

You mean you have to look at the keyboard to type? We learned that shit in grade 1 dude, back in 2001.

kb typing and phone typing are a lot different

I don't have this problem on my Blackberry Keyone

my uncle uses voice to text on his phone to send SMS

MacBook pro has the comfiest keyboard for touch-typing with their butterfly gen2 switches. Tfw have to switch between that and duck one mkl for work and play.

The weak should fear the stronge

If you can't use something like pic related you should probably just get rid of your computer

I don't think he means that he has to look at his keyboard to type, just that he doesn't use all 10 fingers to type. I'm a brainlet with the same problem. I use my thumb for space bar but everything else with my pointer fingers.

i'm even more autistic and weird. i only use my middle finger on my left and mostly my right but i use my right index to hit space

Even more embarrassing

I'm sorry you're quadriplegic user. How do you handle the captchas?

I can type like 90wpm so its not that bad. It is embarassing though. I've tried to learn touch typing a few times but I always lose track of my thoughts when typing that way so I revert back to my old habits.

why would i cuck myself to thumb typing on my phone when voice input is faster and less annoying?

>he didn't play SpongeBob typing when he was younger
I unironically played this when I was younger, and I was excited too. This was my shit back in the day.
Because of this game, I can type at 110 Krabby Patties a minute.

i can do it sometimes if i use one keyboard for a long time but everything is fucked if it moves even 1cm.

>tfw 47wpm

8 fingers is the masterrace. pinkie fingers are rarely used but i've mastered typing to the point where i can utilize 8 fingers and still type extremely fast. probably have 115-125 WPM with complex sentences and 140WPM if we're just typing random gibberish.

jesus fucking christ i was a sophomore in high school in 2001. i'm surrounded by little kids here.

Again, sorry you're quadriplegic user. Must suck.

Yeah. Now I feel really old.

I still don't understand how anyone can enter highschool without being able to touchtype. Let alone graduate. Did most of Sup Forums go to school in such poor neighborhoods they couldn't afford computers?

It's really not difficult to learn. Put your fingers on the home row, go to keybr, and type for hours. You'll start really slow but you'll eventually get the hang of it and thank yourself the day you learned how to do it right.

>tfw usually only type with three fingers on either hand, smallest finger sits idly above keyboard
>still 45wpm

>spongebob typing
>when he was young

are you 12 now? we used mavis beacon or mario teaches typing.

>top 2% according to website
>Can't type above 110 wpm

I wish I could type up to 120

I can't get used to touch typing, I'm too much into the HJKL for movement in Vim.

I played that game when I was a kid and got bored after playing it for a couple days. I learned a lot more from just playing MMO games and learning on the way

t. 110 wpm

Came here to post this

I have an extremely average 90-100 WPM. I can't use ' accurately without looking though. Hopefully my new tenkeyless keyboard will help with that.

Touch typists who QWERTY - do you type B with your right or left hand, and same with Y?

Both with right hand.

Don't worry user, you can easily learn to touch type within a few weeks

>be me
>able to touch type
have the gods blessed me with good genetics?

If you're sub 110 WPM you should just give up now

Mario teaches typing was top tier

In Australia we used this program (I am only in my early 20s though so it's probably way newer than what most of Sup Forums used)
I still have huge nostalgia for it

140-150wpm

I type both of them using my right hand, but that's because I'm right-handed and it's more comfortable. IIRC they tend to teach you to use one for y and the other for b but who cares if you can type quickly enough.

20 year old here
No one ever bothered teaching it to me and I never went out of my way to learn it in the past. I was able to use Gentoo and operate Cisco IOS before being able to touchtype. Right now I'm in the last year of studying IT and only this year I started touch typing. Picked it up really quick however I never had any trouble not touch typing since I still was very fast.

Especially nowadays the youngsters won't start learning to touch type if no one teaches it to them since lot's of kids type on their phone and can't be arsed to learn it themselves.

I can tt but my left pinky has bad nerves and it hurts sometimes when i press keys with it which makes me error a lot with it. While not the end of the world it is annoying as fucj

Do schools not teach typing anymore? I had to take a fuck ton of typing. There was no time for getting bad habits.

Only in elementary school for me, and I would just smash on the keyboard to get instant high score. Turning it into a game was a mistake on their part.

This is fucked up. What do American kids do all day in school? They cut out cursive, typing and the arts. Those are the only useful things I have needed as an adult

It was required to take programming in middle school, then again to graduate highschool. By the time it was taught in HS, half the class slept through it, it was old hat.

>cursive
When the hell have you used that in your adult life beyond signing your name? I don't even use it for that, I just scribble like a retard.

Bong here, born in '91 and never had any real IT education. My cursive is beautiful at least.

you gotta practice. I learned when i was 13 from using AOL IM

This, heated ERP sessions in AOL chatrooms were a great way to learn to type

1. Girls get wet over cursive. They drool on my ear as they unzip.
2. I'm fast enough to take verbatim notes. Unless it's like a northerner. Fucking yankees

>tfw noone teached you to type back in a childhood
That means a lot

>Girls get wet over cursive
Surprisingly this, I never knew how important handwriting was until I got a job that involved it. People would just stand over me and watch me write for 10-20 minutes. Cursive is basically art these days, everyone else there wrote like a 5 year old

I just talked about yugioh and green day with my friends in the chat room kingforaday and princessbydawn
t3h clubb0rz rul3

I type with 3 fingers max on each hand max (excluding thumb), and I still reach around 100wpm

Why haven't you learned yet? It's not like you have anything better to do than sit in the dark and type up messages to anons on the internet.

what's touch typing

I never used any of this shit. I just got blank keycaps and forced myself to learn how to type without looking. Worked like a charm. i can touchtype on any physical keyboard as long as it's qwerty. I typically go at only about 70wpm though.

What is the best way to improve typing speed? I can only do 50wpm.

this is at least something i can feel superior to most people on earth about

no pinkies
index, middle and ring on left hand
index and middle on right hand (type depending on current position)
left thumb for spacebar
after so many years i can't be arsed to learn proper typing tbqh

>touch typing is usually not a problem
>I can't into typing numbers if I'm not typing them with two fingers

>tfw can touch type, but only 40 wpm on my laptop, so i might as well not

>there are people ITT who unironically still use computers

>Been using computers extensively since 10 years old
>Just naturally learn how to touch type
>Have to take a mandatory computer class in middle school
>Classmates are baffled by my 100+ wpm
>Teacher has us do a typing test with our keyboard's obscured
>Mfw

140 wpm checking in

My accuracy is not excellent. I probably hit backspace for 1 in 30 characters. Doesn't slow me down though.

I've been a software developer for 14 years and I still have to search and peck type

only with pen and paper

>tfw you can touch type, but only manage 80 WPM
I've been trying to get faster, but no matter what that seems to be my limit. Any tips cause I want to break 100wpm

easy. The problem is touch typing with not just only 2 fingers.

>tfw faster wpm with Dvorak after 2 weeks
>mfw my shortcuts and games still think I'm using Qwerty

I type 70 on Qwerty and 90 on Dvorak.
Qwerty is one of those stupid dated oddities in life. Dvorak's mapping is so simple it makes Qwerty look like advance autism.

I would kill to find a Dvorak layout for the xps15.

>only had the most basic of typing lessons in grade school
>didn't have a home computer until I was 12
>had to share with sister so only got to use it half of the time
>only used it for video games and porn when it was my turn
>now I'm a two finger typelet that can't break 60wpm because I didn't care enough to learn

Turns out I have been touch typing all my life but I never knew it was called touch typing. I thought everybody touch typed.

Should have invested the time to learn typing with both middle fingers, so you could flip off people looking at your hands while typing.

tfw can type 95-100 WPM on a low-travel keyboard as it jiggles around on a pillow sitting on my lap

>tfw Sup Forumsaymers will never know what it's like to have fast piano fingers built from two decades of trills and arpeggios

Faggot, I learned touch typing while playing games

I can touch type but I don't have any structure to it which keeps me from ascending to 100+wpm

I'm still in the 95th percentile or some shit but I clearly get shat on by other people whose's hands don't move about and stuff. I could never get into that technique.

all four fingers on left hand
index and middle finger on right
right index for spacebar
no thumb action whatsoever

Seems to work fine for me, never really bothered to learn the correct way

left hand for both, but I'm left handed so that makes sense. 120wpm.

?

I touch type at 101wpm

But I don't have a standard position or anything. Whichever hand/finger is easiest to use to type the next required key is the one I use

>tfw you're a 60wpm touch typer typelet

same here. I can do some letters perfecrtlty and then others I hyst cmpletely miss

Sort of a dumb question, but let's say you are typing up something on a piece of paper. Are you able to recognize you made a mistake and fix it without looking at the keyboard or monitor? Maybe everybody does this, I dunno.

I know where all the keys are without looking but I can't break the habit of just using my pointer fingers. I'm so close, yet so far.

They actually exempted me from typing in highschool. I kept crashing the program for some reason. Free study hall. I type around 140-150.

I fell for it. And so far it is not a meme. Every other normal keyboard that I grab feels worse than the mech.
