Get a 1030, it just needs pci-e power and plays everything at 720p (great res for laptops). Don't buy outdated shit that barely gets drivers.

a problem i saw with the 10xx series, is that for expresscard adapters you need a specific driver since nvidia is killing support for it in the newest ones, i have that driver and works great with the 650ti but yesterday i connected a 1050 i had laying around and it didn't recognize it.
i'm ok with the 1030 for its price, its performances and the price point but i have to work with it (rendering and live video performance) and i need ouptuts, i can't get away with a single DVI and an HDMI
looking for a gigabyte 750, 80€, decent power (enough for me, used one multiple times), 2 HDMI and 2 DVI one with dual link. the only problem is that i don't know if it's a good idea to buy used cards
Cameron Thomas
Used cards are fine as long as the owner shows you proof of purchase and warranty. Then you have to personally test it to see how well it works. Mind the fans, they have to be well lubricated and perfectly aligned. If any of those conditions are not met, ask for a discount of your liking (at least 20% for each).

buying on eBay, possibly from another country, italianfag here, i don't know why the brits have a much better second hand market for electronics.
best thing i can do is buying from a professional seller
Ryan White
wait for volta gtx 2050, it's going to have 50% best performance
James Diaz
Do you not have an italian craigslist or something? I wouldn't give more than 50 euros for a second hand card from bumfuck nowhere.
Cooper Ross
yes we have a lot of sites plus the good ol ebay but the prosumer electronic market is next to nonexistent and the few of us who understand what a GPU is are kind of hoarders (i am), we tend to buy new stuff from amazon.
best bet i have from italy is small ebay sellers, kids who are making space for the new card, but they cost as much as buying from a shop and i wouldn't trust them
i'm not a gaymer, i need a gpu that can render with CUDA for days if asked and is good at drawing 2/3 720p screens with video mixing
guess i'll just go in the 100-130€ range and buy new from amazon, they have an excellent warranty here
Anthony Ward
What about local PC repair shops? Damn, it's so much easier in eastern europe.
Evan Hall
1050/ti only uses mobo power as well
Nathaniel Wilson
we kind of don't have those either lol, i mean, there are but they're usually thieves and they have next to nothing when it comes to old hardware
as said, italy is very consumerist when it comes to electronics. if something breaks unless it's really worth it first thing we do is buy new
yeah as said i had one in my house yesterday (kinda defective) and was surprised with performances... but as said, tried to hook on my x230 and the old driver didn't recognized it, i'd like to avoid software problems
guys amazon has tons of used 950 AMP for 116€, given they've the output i'm searching (even DP), the power, price is good and the warranty is from amazon. think i'm going for it this afternoon, am i missing something
Asher Reyes
I was looking for cheap cards to assist in heavier photo editing of 150+MB files and was also looking at cheap/used NVidia GPUs (AMD $/perf became shit due to miners). Ended up getting a used 760 for $80 a year ago.
The 950 is great $/perf if you can swing it. 100 euro seems a little steep, but maybe that's just because euro PC prices are shit in general.
Ryder Robinson
Jesus, update your drivers then
Wyatt Baker
760 looks great but for some reasons is hard to find, the 950 is the best and most easy to find in that performance range, yeah i guess prices here are higher (keep in mind that we're talking about officially refurbished, with 2 years warranty and 22% taxation included), at this point i'd like to spend 20€ more for safety
i'm now looking on forums and looks like the 1050 should've worked with the drivers i had, do i need to reinstall drivers every time i plug in a new card?
Dominic Phillips
yeah that 2 years warranty sounds nice, I'd just get that. The 1050ti will get you like 20% better performance for like almost twice the price, based on what you're paying for the 950.
Ian Green
ok guys, end of the movie, talked to my younger brother, he wanted to upgrade is gaming setup from the 260x he has right now so i'm giving him 100€ and for 150€ we're buying the 1050ti which is actually great, i end up taking the old 650ti for work which is more than enough
yes i'm doing him a great favor but who cares
Nolan Cruz
Thank god for non-gamer linuxfags to keep junk in circulation
Nicholas Anderson
i'm not a linuxfag but non gaming used components are great, not everyone has an alienware laptop given from its dad
i just need a parallel processor for shit to compute :)

pre-pascal cards will run with the latest drivers, pascal cards on a hotplugable pcie lane (expresscard) will work up to 375.70 without issue.
and recently, a fix was found for later drivers and pascal cards that involve editing a few lines of an .inf in 368.81, installing it, then doing a "dirty" install over that with new drivers:
i'm a fan of the low profile 1050 ti. made a shitty enclosure for mine out of smoking area signs
my opinion: 1050 ti for card that will be best utilized in an expresscard egpu setup, used 750ti for best price:performance. get a dell da-2 psu
Sebastian Peterson
I got an evga 750 ti oc 2GB like the one on your pic, with a dell inspiron 570 with amd 2.8 ghz and 6 GB ram. I enjoy cinematic experience in batman arkham knigth, the very same that PS4 (1600x900@30fps). Very good indeed.
Owen Kelly
nice enclosure user, i plan making one with everything included from wood, i already bought the dell psu, as said i need performance on the go so it will be small and easy to carry, i also plan on making a small drawer on the enclosure to carry the expresscard adapter and other handy shit
