my t430 overheated even after I changed the paste. it had also a shitty keyboard and of course the fan was shit/broken and made a lot of noise. My t420 runs completely silent as it doesn't even need to turn on the fan while I browse the internet
I also think the build quality is a lot better on the t420

My x230, smaller with same specs literally can't avoid using the turbo boost if I run renders on it, it goes up to 3.5GHz and it stays there cause cooling is enough. Sure it is not that fast but the CPU is doing its best.
