not the guy from the other thread who asked this but I'm curious too - how can I keep the halloween and other seasonal themes going?

Guys pls help me, I restarted my laptop (removing all apps and then re-installing Windows) cause I had a malware virus, it worked succesfully but it seems the fucker also DELETED the fucking audio so I can't hear shit wat do?

in inkscape, how do i make the stroke thinner at any point?
something like this for example

Can you turn a laptop internal hard drive into an external hard drive? I'm about to get a new laptop, and I also want an external drive. Do they sell converter plugs so I can plug my old internal hard drive into a USB port, effectively turning it into an external drive? If so, where can I buy one?

yes you can. look for sata to usb adapters or external drive enclosures

css themes or some shit

which ubuntu version is equivalent of windows 7

Why does turning it off and on again work for like 99% of computer problems? What's actually happening at a low level to make it work?

If I wanted to filter an expression in 4chanX where the first and the third word were set, but the second one could be anything, how should I write that?

Forgotten the name of the alternative youtube site the one which doesn't give you country blocks

Get new drivers

Is there a way to play TF2 on Fedora 26? I barely can't get 15 fps on Fedora, I asked to Steam Support but they told me to install Oobonto, and fuck no.

hooktube

Ubuntu.

My home network setup is like this:
Cable Modem ---> Wired+Wireless Router ---> Devices (PCs, phone, tablet)

I'm running into the strangest issue and I haven't called my ISP about it because I'm sure they'll just assume I'm an idiot and tell me to reset my modem or some shit.

My PC is connected via wired/ethernet. I can stream, torrent, download, all at the same time, use as much bandwidth as I like, no issues.

But anytime I connect a device via wifi, like my tablet or my Roku TV, and try to watch youtube videos on said device, my cable modem will start getting T3 timeout errors and rebooting itself. This is so strange and I have no idea why it occurs.

>TL;DR: Watching videos via wifi on my network causes my cable modem (modem, not the router) to get T3 timeout errors and reset; watching videos on a wired connection causes zero issues

Have you installed proprietary drivers? The open source drivers for both GPU vendors are pretty poor beyond just rendering xorg.

Okay I really am lost here.. I've tried Google for days now. Either I'm too stupid or I just don't know what to search for.

What I want to accomplish is having a simple file manager that fits into my custom theme (github . com/NickBrisebois/dotfiles/tree/master/.themes/yellow). I'm using noobuntu if it makes any difference.

I'm assuming I have to "style" a FM manually in some way, which is fine, but I cannot figure out how or which FM that fits my customization needs.

Any help is really appreciated.

I'm feeling retarded because I want to play with genetic algorithmics and I can't do shit. This is close to what I want to do:
youtube.com/watch?v=Tza09kC6Xnc
I just want to download any software and keep it running and observe how it interacts with different images. But when I download from Github they turn out not to be programs but libraries or something else.
Does anyone know where to locate a program? I don't know jack shit about programming

I have an integrate Intel GPU, I checked my drivers and it seems to be up to date.
I guess Fedora sucks.

Your theme is for gtk 2.0. Most file browsers thesedays use gtk 3.0, which has a completely different theme format. That might be the problem.

Anyone have experience with the ASUS Z97-A board sometimes locking up on the BIOS splash screen when you try to boot? Seems like it happens when I fuck with SATA drives in particular, but also recently started when I reboot out of my Linux partition sometimes which is annoying, since to resolve it I usually need to open the whole thing up, unplug every SATA drive, and then boot into BIOS with them all unplugged so it will reinitialize itself or something.

If I get a larger resolution monitor, will my mouse sensitivity change in games?

IE: I currently have a 1080p monitor and I play at about 34cm/360 in FPS games. In Battlefield that's 7% sensitivity.
Will 7% sensitivity at 1440p be the same as 7% sens at 1080p?

Will I have to recalculate all my sensitivities? Or does this only affect the desktop?

Please help.

I am currently using vim fx extension in firefox. How do i open the image on the same page as the Sup Forums thread. Using f and then selecting the image opens it in another tab.

What can I do about this? And do you know anywhere I can find themes and how to apply these?

I don't think it affects it that much.. I often set my desktop resolution to 800x600 or 640x480 when I'm playing an old game that doesn't handle scaling to a large resolution well, and I don't notice the mouse flying all over the place.

Though actually now that I think of it the sensitivity is usually measured in DPI so honestly I would expect it would... I dunno, it's probably not that biggie though

You have to compile it, check the instructions to compile it.
luv.asn.au/overheads/compile.html

I ask because I have noticed that when I run games at 4k resolution the sensitivity feels 1/4th of what it should be.
But that is using DSR, so I'm not sure if native resolution increase will have the same effect.

>be me
>wash amazon hdx 7 tablet on accident that good nice black decent tablet
>need new android tablet

any good suggestions im poor right now but i do want a good tablet when i get paid back.

on Windows, is there a way to move windows with a single key and mouse dragging like on Linux? Because alt+space and M is incredibly slow and annoying

I am trying to set up a shit tier NAS on an old laptop

Is there any software I can install on windows to make this work? I can't install linux for for to many stupid reasons

Hi, just bought a water cooling sistem for my processor, I checked and it said it was compatible with socket FM2b (poorfag), but now I see the plate that touches the CPU is larger than the Cpu itself, even the thermal paste área is slightly bigger, will that be an issue?

assuming it doesn't touch anything conductive, yes.

I finally ended up joining the Windows 10 botnet because I put $2k into new hardware and wanted support for it. I knew how to make Windows 7 private and not log what I didn't want logged, but how do I make Windows 10 less botnetty? Also how do I keep it from indexing and caching thumbnails on my Veracrypted porn drive when I mount it?

Yes it will be am issue?

yes it will work
I am retarded

if it makes good contact with the cpu it will be fine

Downloaded a fucked torrent. Whenever I'm online my CPU goes nuts and these files are the cause. They were created during the event. It's a bitcoin miner thing, right? A new one opens and an old one will close (sprlzhc). Plus the two clients I'm guessing yes.

Can't delete it because I don't have permission. Going to boot with Ubuntu and try to delete them. However wdemtpisvc is in /system32. Is it safe to delete that one as well?

No results googling any of them.

Why do you need to encrypt a drive with porn? Nobody gives a shit about your german granny scat fetish, encrypt the drive or directory where you keep your actual important stuff.
>I knew how to make Windows 7 private and not log what I didn't want logged
[spoilers]no you didn't know shit, just placebo[/spoiler]
>how do I make Windows 10 less botnetty?
you can either apply one of the lists of microsoft servers to your hosts file on the computer that you use windows or you could use a pihole (on a vm, computer or raspberry pi) add the ever updating list plus block all the ads to every device connected to the network
It's not hard to tweak some settings to keep the phoning home to minimal and make it decent looking.

I'm taking a c class right now and I'm having difficultly writing simple things like loops and switches to preform simple tasks requiring logic operations. It takes me considerably longer to write a correct function than other people in my lab group. I asked them about how they handled writing the code and their response was it just
" the solutions are intuitive", the don't really need to check the book or their notes either.

am I dumb?

Do I have to compile them under linux? Can't I work in windows?

Thanks a lot man, now I can keep strugling with the instalation know ing it will be fruitfull

please respond

Call your isp. You may need a firmware update.

>you can either apply one of the lists of microsoft servers to your hosts file

PSA: doing that doesn't work, the IPs are hardcoded into Win10, you need to block them on your router/external firewall

github.com/noureldien/ImageEvolution
Is this what you want to download? , I don't see any release or anything to compile, when you download it as a .zip, you are downloading (usually) the source code plus the libraries to compile it, however, it seems to be written in Visual Basic
msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vbasic/default.aspx
Sorry man I have never used/written anything on Visual Basic, so I can't give you much help, Download it and try to open it.

>claiming I didn't know shit
>didn't know this tidbit of common knowledge
Righto. Does anyone else know if Windows likes to cache things in weird places that I should know about, or am I pretty much good to just run CCleaner and call it a day?

I've got a domain registered in my name, and have for years with no real idea what to do with it. Is the easiest way to host a website to get a cheap Raspberry Pi knockoff and put it on that?

which youtube-dl gui would be best for an old person?

Assuming you're not expecting to need much storage or bandwidth Nearly Free Speech can be really cheap.

Does anyone have a wdemtpisvc.exe in there System32 folder? I really need to know if I can delete it ASAP without destroying my PC even more.

Is it possible to feed an expansion card that operates on pcie 1.1 8x at full speed with fewer pcie 3.0 lanes?

How to block the halloween theme ?

I know user, that's why I added the whole pihole explanation since that's the one I use not only because of the added benefits but also because I do not trust on the hosts list on the actual windows machine since it's changing or gets bypassed by certain parts of the OS. Still someone like that thought he had Windows 7 under control, is not interested or maybe can't do anything like setting properly his network. Some retards like it, love placebos.

I haven't seen this much backtrack outside of a skiddies first pentest. Also
>trusting your network security to a Pihole that could be directing any of your traffic to whatever IP they want because you didn't verify anything

After upgrading to android 6.0, some songs on BlackPlayer EX will sound literally like shit, like one of these videos from underages who put extra bass to the limit, but other songs will sound just fine.
The ones that will sound bad are from the same album, i.e. Made in Abyss' OST sounds bad, but Boku no Hero's OST sounds good.

On PowerAMP and other players, that isn't a problem, they all sound good.

I tried to reinstall, delete all BlackPlayer EX's files and reinstall, going back to MIUI 8 (from 9) and nothing seems to work.

Is there any kind of secret EQ that gets on when some specific songs plays?

I could also use another app, but it must be as customizable as BP.

Would be possible through an active PCIe switch chip such as the ones PLX makes, don't think there are any off the shelf solutions though.

What does Sup Forums think about UX/UI design as a career? Is it sustainable? Is it bullshit?

If I have to run Windows 7 in a VM on a computer with a limited amount of ram, would the 32-bit version perform better?

I have this: amazon.com/gp/product/B005C55OYA/

Alright I have an excel spreadsheet. I'm trying to fit all the cells into one page without it scaling too much. How do I do this? Every time I try to print it it scales the whole thing down to the center.

yeah the pihole it's not the best solution you can come up with it, but certainly it's cheap, fairly reliable if you set it up properly and easy enough for everyone to just get one rolling.
I guess that as long as you use known well maintained lists it's ok, but I've read posts of people that add random lists or worse, leave the pihole open to be accessed from outside the network

How come a mostly clean installation of W7 with updates takes up 30+ gigs? Any way to reduce this number? I just want a small partition in my SSD I can switch to as needed

What should I do with my domain?

i.always.fail/
communists.always.fail/
governments.eventually.always.fail/

I'm trying to think of something funny. The simplest thing so far was making funny redirects for various FQDNs.

I'm using taekwindow but there are other options like some auto hotkey scripts and a virtuawin plugin.

>k&r > modern C > C deep secrets > a 100 pages article about memory > algorithms in C

good idea, bad idea?

How about you learn something useful, like JavaScript?

I mean, sure, C is pure and aesthetically pleaseing, but it's not very useful unless you're coding low-level stuff.

>have a Samsung 55" television.
>have a regular non 4K version of a Google Chromecast plugged into it.
>Thinkpad T420 with Google chrome installed, casting to the TV
>Connected over WiFi to my media server

No matter what I do, the video being cast to the TV is always at a way lower frame rate than the movie playing on the laptop. At first I thought ahotty wifi connection was the culprit, but the laptop and all my Android devices can stream from the server just fine. Is it just the limitations of the Chromecast plain and simple? Because if this is the case, I'm just going to buy a mini PC, run HDMI and Ethernet through the wall, and have a Windows based mini PC pushing that television. This shouldn't be as hard as it is.

need to store backups of around 50gb somewhere where i dont need to worry about failing disks and all that shit
been checking out amazon s3 but looks maybe a bit overkill
any tips?

s3 isn't that expensive, but if you want something cheaper just use glacier.

Or try this: tarsnap.com/

Should I get a GTX 1080 ti now or should I wait for upcoming GTX card?
When will the new cards be out?

I've been using Backblaze for a while, has some limitations but if you have a lot of data you need backed up hard to find much cheaper. Though in my case it's more in the neighborhood of 10 terabytes so maybe the equation is a bit differnt for you

looking for some youtube shit to watch that's similar to 8 bit guy, techmoan, LGR, obsolete geek - stuff like that cause I already watched all that shit

peace

Yeah, cut down the install media with a guide like blackviper's.

So not much I can do if it's already installed? Maybe I'll look into reinstalling later but kind of lazy about it now.

What does it take to play 8k video smoothly?

Disk cleanup/bleachbit. Relocate folders to HDD with symlinks and shit. That's about it.

Is JDownloader still decent? Used to use it years ago, hear shit about it being full of adware and shit now.

An 8k video file. Find one and we'll talk.

what makes my feet feel damp/sweaty/clammy in cold weather

how do I stop it

Thanks, I'll try. I don't like being a burden but for the sake of all who have no fucking clue of what they're doing they should explain in two sentences how boobs are supposed to install their shit

Yesterday there was a rainstorm where I live and ever since then my internet connection has been running like crap, pic related. Every couple of hours the connection goes out altogether and I have to reset my router.
I live in an apartment and I've switched ISPs due to having similar problems before. Is there a chance that some sort of hardware in the building might be damaged rather than it being an issue with the ISP?

Bottom of the page, find the "Style" box and change the setting from "Special" to "Yotsuba B" or whatever your preference is.

Also keep in mind that the Style box may be hard to see with the halloween theme because of the dancing skellington in front of it, but you can still click on it.

How i'm fixe componter ?

bout tree fiddy

Pic related. Using i5 6600 with integrated graphics, so im wondering, does it take cpu or gpu to play it smoothly? 4k works fine.

Is 1440p 120Hz worth it?

144hz

I haven't noticed any change, except for the "you really want to upgrade to a premium account for this hoster" popups

I NEED A (YOU) PLEASE I can't tell the (you) color on my thread watcher with this new theme and I'm curious.

Thanks

I've been having this shit pop on and off when I press capslocks.
It didn't use to happen before. How do I turn this off?

hi

ohhh sheeeiiit it doesn't turn red, nothing

thanks user

do not use the halloween theme if you use the thread watcher guys

My team lead is complaining about "too many if else statements" "because they are bad". I looked into it and I think she's talking about cyclomatic complexity.
Basically the program is a log scraper and there are multiple formats for the log lines being read so the if else series is a bunch of regular expression checks to see how to parse the string. Can anyone point me towards something to improve the cyclomatic complexity for parsing a variety of string formats?

Yes, because 64-bit version requires more RAM than the 32-bit one.

>she
Stopped reading there. Dont listen to her, she dosent know shit about anything

Thoughts on this bros?
>boot computer
>can access BIOS fine
>POST happens
>Verifying DMI Pool Data
>next screen normally is Windows Boot logo
>now, black
>just a black screen, nothing loads
I did a MemTest yesterday and it was fine. The SSD is new. So is it a PSU, GPU, or mobo problem? I have no spares to check right now.

most likely an os problem

Not surprised by this answer, but you're saying I'm right about there not really being a better way to do this?

My old SSD was having the exact same problem though, that's why I bought a new one. It's just Windows 7.
