Sup Forums is a Google service so yes
This is a National Geographic writer. Not some buzzfeed college dropout.
>wildlife crime
Must've been about blacks.
I just assumed they looked at what you're writing and send it to the feds if it's problematic.
black bears
LibreOffice doesn't have this problem.
Why woulf you use google docs for writing stuff anyway? Libreoffice, Word, Openoffice... Even fucking wordpad is enough for plain text.
Apple iWork doesn't have this problem.
>iWork
Can't select multiple different parts of text
Maybe to be able to access it from multiple workstations. Only reason I can think of.
Because of good .doc support ?
I do, daily
It's a godsend when doing collaborations
Like... 16GB HardDrive cots like $3 and you can connect it to computer for $2
My sixth form uses it because we need to be able access everything on all computers
I've never used Google Docs
Also
>trusting sensitive data to muh cloud
>storing your documents on "the cloud"
>using an online service to edit your documents
These people deserver their faith, and a lot worse. Probably this way they will finally learn their lesson. Stupidity costs, and so it should.

>sixth form
I got to sixth form too :^)
Comp Sci, Physics and Maths, wbu?
Also which city/town?
what new powers do you gain in your 6th form user?
>Can't select multiple different parts of text
Even TextEdit can, I'm sure iWork can do it.
I don't know.
I just like looking at other people's dicks.
Try pages.
I don't get it.
Google actually reads what you are writing?
Devon
Compsci, Media, English
They have an AI for that
>reads
In the sense that algorithms pick out keywords and patterns to flag files, yes.
I used a google service to make this post.
>Google actually reads what you are writing?
Probably not. But the takehome from this is that you should never trust something you care about (like a book you're working on) to an online service you don't control. At any point the service could go down, or experience data loss and your work is gone forever. Alternatively and more sisterly (as suggested by this post) it's possible for companies like google to use their services to selectively censor opinions that don't agree with their political and ideological viewpoint.
Software as a service should be opposed as a general rule. It does far more harm than google and can be abused by the people that control it. It's also the antithesis for free and open source software. If you must use "cloud" storage or sass, only do so as a backup rather than as a primary tool.
>it's possible for companies like google to use their services to selectively censor opinions that don't agree with their political and ideological viewpoint.
someone should try to upload mein kampf to see what happens
Of course they do, why else would they provide the service for free?
only for email (had it since beta, will be difficult to change) and indirectly as a search engine through startpage.
also android although in going to try lineage os when I get my Lg v30
of course.
how else will i get my flight and hotel bookings automagically added to my calendar.
Libreoffice does this fine.
>deserve their faith
Sent from my Apple iPhone
Are you retarded?
Why would National Geographic allow Google access to their IP in the first place?
Collaborative work. If a bunch of non-technical people needs to be able to work on / review / annotate the same doc, they sure as hell ain't gonna use git.
yes
>t. intellectually propertyless
Coming from the fat cunt that needs to title her fat self femanon for attention, combined with the fact that you can't spell for shit and are phoneposting, I'll take that question for what it's worth- absolutely nothing.
Error thought crime detected
Man, Wordpad is comfy as fuck.
It doesn't get enough love. Richtext in general doesn't get enough love.
notepad master race son
just plain text, none of your fancy formatting bullshit.
Perfect for just note taking and writing without worrying about how gay it looks. Just type away, Kerouac style.
When you're done, take it to LibreOffice or Latex to publish.
my sixth form insisted on using itslearning because the head of ict was an itslearning shill
made me want to die
>copy doc
>make new doc
>click paste
fucking this
got like a dozen notepad++ tabs open all the time with whatever shit I'm writing, whether it be code, prose, docs, anything
rich text is nothing but a distraction
Someone please do this and post results. I'm too lazy. Let's experiment, and see if the ban that shit.
I use this as a Google docs replacement
She had it coming
>You're still using google services, aren't you user?
Just a gmail for appearing normie. Other than that is just 4chugs
Not even regular MS Office.
My sixth form computer was a BBC MICRO. Singular. For the whole school.
You kids make me feel fucking ancient.
>new doc gets locked again
People should reply to this with the homestuck stairs meme. We literally told them dog.
there are probably sixth forms where this is still the case desu
>You're still using google services, aren't you user?
Just for image search, or the occasional youtube video, but no, not most of the time.
wtf does this mean for my 100000s of books?
Christ. I'm going to need to migrate from Kolab faster than I thought.
Bears are sneaky.
I feel bad for my GF in Alaska.
Gonna go see her soon~!
We warned you about storing your information in the cloud. You have an enormous hard drive in a box in front of you, where information can be safely stored and not accessed by others. But no, you had to store your only copy on someone else's computer, where they can decide whether you get to use it today.
I prefer LaTeX + Git.
We're all using Google's captcha.
>typing shit up on Google Docs
why
it's fucking laggy
just upload whatever the fuck you're writing to Google Docs at the end if you need it for work or whatever
Editing documents on the cloud and online is the best thing. Great for collaboration you fucking neet. They just need something that doesn't censor them.
That screenshot makes your format look awful. There's more markup than actual text there. And everything on that page could be done with a little bit of markdown.
You wrote best thing, but I think you meant to write worst thing, because if you did in fact mean what you wrote, well then you'd be fucking retarded.
It is imperative that the user have physical control over his data. If they do not, then there will always be someone abusing the fact that the data is held somewhere else.
And abusing that data becomes all the more attractive when it's not just one person's data, but millions.
Pooling everyone's shit together into one giant pile is always going to attract a fuckton of flies, it's just the way the world works.
do you like just putting yourself through that physical pain or are you actually this mentally incompetent
If you ever get a job you fucking neet, then you know that everything you write is held and controlled by the company. So it's not like you hold on to some dear idiotic principle. But doing it online on the cloud means half the amount of work you need to do and you don't need to spend much time writing the boring thing. It's like using a tractor on a farm instead of just tilling the ground by hand. You fucking luddites are going to compare about the purity of doing it the old inconvenient way and claim how dangerous the new technology is, and even if it's more dangerous it results in way less work
my computer doesn't charge me to plug things in user
Excepting youtube, no, I'm not.
What's a good replacement then? I need to be able to work on the same file at the same time with somebody in a different country.
>sisterly
I believe the word you were after was "sinister".
>connect it to computer for $2
What?
>upload your data to somebody else's computer
>give up control to the data
>be surprised when you actually don't control your data anymore
SJWs.
>ITT: people do use google services
The state of a "technology" board.
What should I use instead?
Duckduckjew or the honeypot known as startpage?
He says while he uses Google captcha
Do either have a cloud office service?
I don't understand why Google Docs needs a system to detect 'malicious' documents. It's just text, who cares what is on there? Or do they intend to use it to stop illegal file sharing like ebooks or whatever. That's the only reason I can think of.
Btw: Google has said it was a glitch and access has been restored.
just use ssh -X
I only use gmail for Spam emails I get from websites I registered for and google translate because ms translate always fails after one translations.
For documents?
Git and latex or nextcloud.
I don't use it, Sup Forums uses it. That's like saying you use google analytics because a site uses it. No, and I minimize by blocking analytics in the browser and by using legacy captcha.
>honeypot known as startpage
source?
You can insert images.
But I agree, if they detect someone is storing CP in a document, why not report it to the police instead of destroying evidence?
>I don't understand why Google Docs needs a system to detect 'malicious' documents.
TO STOP THE CHILDRAPING SOFTWARE PIRATING CYBERTERRORISTS.
Right, hadn't thought about CP. Exactly it makes a lot more sense to report it anyway, they know exactly who inserted the images (or at least from which computer) so catching the pedo should be easier.
It is pretty fucked as a concept though, that everything on there is being analysed.
>current year
>writing documents in anything other than latex
Setup Nextcloud with collabora yourself. The only hard thing about that shit is setting up certs.
>It is pretty fucked as a concept though, that everything on there is being analysed.
you do know that's google's bread and butter, right?
I once had my PS4 mute a movie for breaching copyright.
Yes. I don't use Docs but I do use Gmail. I wonder how much spying they are doing there.
the power of Cinevia
all of it.
Am I the only one wondering what kind of "crime" wildlife could possibly commit?
As far as I know there's no written law that applies to animals. They are animals, it's not like you can present them a book of laws and explain that if you do this then you'll go to jail. Can't really have fair trials for them either.
What did she mean by this?
>Am I the only one wondering what kind of "crime" wildlife could possibly commit?
Guilty until proven guilty.
Try appealing with Google's Customer Service, LOL.
It was a glitch in the spy program, happened to a few people. They corrected the mistake.
You can find their statement if you (unironically) google it
I think he meant niggers, user.
I've heard something along these lines about Ixquick and Startpage too.
Nobody wants to say why.
