If you want help:
>State the budget & CURRENCY for your build
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs:
>NO i5 7500/7600K or i7 7700/K. THEY ARE DEFUNCT AND SUPERSEDED BY COFFEE LAKE
>G4560/G4600 for non-gaming (light tasks) or bare minimum gaming builds with a dedicated graphics card
>R3 1200 - Budget builds (best with OC + fast RAM)
>R5 1600 / i5 8400 - Great gaming or multithreaded use CPUs
>R7 / Used Xeon / Threadripper / i7 - Heavy Multi-Tasking / VM Work / Mixed use

RAM:
>Before buying RAM for Ryzen, check your Mobo's QVL or look for user reports
>Current CPUs benefit from high speed RAM; 3000-3200 MHz is ideal

GPUs:
>Crypto-Currency miners have driven GPU prices up (particularly Radeon)
1080p
>GTX 1050Ti and 3GB 1060 are the only reasonably priced cards; 6GB 1060 or 4GB 580 if you want to overpay a little
>GTX 1070 if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
1440p
>GTX 1070/Ti and 1080 are standard choices; currently overpriced
>GTX 1080Ti if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
4K
>GTX 1080Ti

General:
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING
>A 240GB or larger SSD is almost mandatory; consider m.2 form factor

Whats the best way to make sure your computer doesn't have malware?

ublock origin.

burn it

adblock is enough unless youre a dumb mothrrfucker running random .exe you download it from adplanet.com

Up til 2 weeks ago i was running with win defender disabled and literally nothing happened

>m.2 SSDs seem great and have nice speeds for $
>all have ugly green pcbs that ruin my aesthetic

>all have ugly green pcbs that ruin my aesthetic
The good ones don't and good boards come with heatsinks that cover them anyway.

Don't be gay about it
Just get SATA if you care so much; unkess you do professional work (in which case don't be such a fag) there won't be a difference worth any money

the only ones with black like kingstons cost $1000
I do and I will

You could also get a PCI-e SSD if you want speed

>the only ones with black like kingstons cost $1000
The butter and bread M.2 drive is the Samsung 960, which is black all over, Crucials are blue, Western Digital, SanDisk, HyperX, Corsair and Crucial make M.2 drives that aren't green PCBs. The most expensive Kingston drive I managed to find costs 460 bucks over here, and that's for a terabyte. Pic related is a SanDisk Z400s with 256GB for less than 100 bucks. I think you're a retard who doesn't know what he's talking about and didn't even spend literally a single second researching what he's complaining about.

What are the implications of higher frequency ram on the Ryzen platform?

Is it worth it to shell out the extra 20 bucks between 2133mhz ram vs 3000mhz ram if you're building a budget microATX with Zen 1600?

I'm not tight on money, but I wasn't planning on spending $150-200 on RAM. Last December a 2x8gb set of DDR4 2400mhz ram cost around $65. I thought the crypto craze with graphics cards was bad, this is a little insane as well.

I should have specified I'm looking at 1TB ssds and I'm in Australia. 960 is $600 here, HyperX is ~$800

not here looking for too much advice, just happy to finally having bought my first "gaming" PC with what little budget I had and your recommendations

pcpartpicker.com/user/Kurisu_Sama/saved/#view=kMYWXL

just wanted to say thanks, and ask one last time what you think about that setup

>led ram
>1 fan gpu
>shitty toshiba hdd
>shitty msi mobo
oh user...

You have no PSU.

actually it's not that specific RAM, I fucked up choosing but since it sported the same MHz and amount of memory I ran with it

couldn't find it on the list so didn't add it, same for the case

Damn, my $9 steam link arrived from that sale a week or two ago and I'm finally seeing the advantages of jumping to PC. This basically clones my powerhouse to another room hassle free, 1080p 60fps at max bitrate over 5ghz wireless AC.

Too bad it only cares to use 8 of my 1600's 12 threads.

For $20, absolutely.
Ryzen's design allows for faster memory to influence communication between cores directly.
Ripjaws V or Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz shouldn't be too bad in price

>1440p/144hz gayman + general workstation
>qt cube with good airflow
>second monitor + storage to be purchased a few months down the line
This is what I came up with
>au.pcpartpicker.com/list/N22m6X
but I wanted to cut the price down. So here is the revised
>au.pcpartpicker.com/list/G7Kpf8
thoughts? Please do NOT bully me for RGB ram - I just wanted a splash of colour and this one is Hynix I believe so it should work fine with the Ryzen

I would suggest getting the cheapest SSD you can find and then adding an HDD down the road.

It would be a damn shame to have a build like that without one. The difference is huge.

Even something like the 120GB SanDisk Plus. Just having your OS and main programs on your SSD is all you need. The rest can go on a shitty HDD.

I plan on buying one next month, it's just that I tried to focus my budget on raw gaming performance so I held onto buying an SSD until I have more money

au.pcpartpicker.com/list/LQDZ6X
overclock your cpu
if it's a general workstation, you should be smart enough to overclock
same performance for less money

I chose the 1600x because I thought I may as well if I have to swap an aftermarket cooler anyway? Even with the best silicon lottery 1600 OC brings you ~10% under the x

What seems to be the best price for performance 1440p 144hz monitor?

oh and I was going to overclock the 1600x. the main issue is I don't know if a 1070 ti is enough for 1440p

What's cheap B350 board has decent VRMs?

Use PCPartPicker and sort by price
Knock items off if they have flaws or general consensus is bad
Once you have a short list bring that here or do specific research

What's the cheapest G-sync monitor and can I expect it to go on sale around Black Friday/Cyber Monday?

I haven't bought a monitor in like 5+ years.

Which of these >newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157761&cm_re=asrock_ab350-_-13-157-761-_-Product
>newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813144029&cm_re=pc_mate_msi_350-_-13-144-029-_-Product
seems like a better budget mobo for the R5 1600? Or should I wait for Black Friday sales and buy one of the pricier x370 boards? Generally what I'm looking for is something that will not cause housefires, has OC capabilities, and lack of gaymer anesthetics and gimmicks.

Say your budget only allows for a really tiny ssd but you can see yourself wanting to upgrade to a bigger one in the future. How hard is it to move the OS from one ssd to another? Feel that I need to ask because I'm the Budget Computing Chad who has never seen an SSD in his life.

I'm not joking, I really do not know anything about SSDs because I haven't gotten a new desktop in about a decade. Do they plug into the same hole as a hard drive? If they store data the same way flash drives do, can I buy an SSD that goes on my keychain?
More seriously, I also just saw something on Amazon called a "Solid-state hybrid drive" that costs just a little more than a regular hard drive. Is it of any value or a piece of garbage?

A TN panel

>The butter and bread M.2 drive is the Samsung 960
Why not the 860

>Is it worth it to shell out the extra 20 bucks
Yes

Looks fine. Like the other user said, possible a two fan 1060. 240GB SSD is the smallest you want to get

Cool

It's fine

It's fine

You'd probably just keep the OS on the original one and put your games on the new one.

>same hole
Disgusting. Some are SATA, some are m.2. Are you still on IDE?

I need help. Want to build my friend a computer for his bday.
>800$ usd
>primarily gaming
>gaming as well

I have a G4560 and a B250i Gaming Pro AC. To upgrade, do I sell both and get a i5-8400 and B350 ITX, a R3 1200+ ITX board or simply get a i5-7400/7500?

about to send my order
how's my build?
pcpartpicker.com/list/bXh3hq

I want win10 and some games on an ssd. Is nvme overkill? context:
i5 7600
1060 3gb
I've never had an ssd of any kind before.

I'm a lazy faggot, is this a good deal for $1080 or is building my own still cheaper?

How are Gigabyte boards?
Do they have any QC issues or cheap components cause I noticed they tend to be cheaper than Asus/MSI.

what do you want to play on it?

Aorus is their high end line and in my experience has been solid. My laptop is actually an old X3 plus which aside from the shit hinge has been fantastic

il2,ro2,bf4,dcs,wows,b&s,dirt 4

How to check if prebuilt is a good deal

Step 1) check if parts are recent
Step 1a) if they aren't find parts that are equivalent performance and recent
Step 2) stick the parts and the recent equivalents in pcpartpicker
Step 3) look at the total price

if i dont give as rats ass about resolution and just want a decent 144hz display is there any reason not to get a pair of these?

i mean that stand they are on even looks great

forgot to paste link

amazon.com/Samsung-24-Inch-Curved-Monitor-C24FG70/dp/B01M1DEEYP?th=1

I have gaming 7 for my 8700k build. It has really good VRMs.

this RGB shit is going to wet much worse isnt it?

Can a i5-8400 wont bottleneck a 1080ti in 1440p?

I got a problem boys. My pc is like a month old and it has started freezing, mainly in games. If i remove one of the sticks of ddr4 the problem gets considerably worse, and the pc starts freezing within seconds of booting up windows. With 2 sticks it will stay on all night, but will freeze minutes into games. Wtf is the problem? Ive swapped psu, gpu, changed os and the problem persists

Check OP

If you're going to go the i5 7500 route, wait a bit for prices to fall. You're not getting perf you need?

Monitor is crap. Just get a used IPS if you want 1080p 60Hz. Save them from the landfills
RAM may not work at rated speed
Get a 240GB SSD

Yes nvme is overkill

Sucks for almost $1100. You can do better with the builds in OP

No

Update BIOS?

When will B-series and H-series motherboards come out for Intel 8th generation?

In some games yes.

Can someone explain this chart to a brainlet?

It’s how close you need to be to a monitor before you can tell the difference between certain resolutions

Does Thermal Grizzy Conductonaut liquid metal dry like CLP or does it stay liquid like CLU?

So at 27" you can't tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p at 3.5 feet?

Ya got it

So why do people buy them? Do you guys really sit that close?

Yeah updated bios. Though it was a ram issue, but it does the same thing for both sticks individually. And memtest shows no errors.

Marketing faggotry. Although I guess you can fit more shit on your monitor, you just won’t be able to see it.

I honestly have doubts 1080p is enough for 27".

Math doesn’t lie. Your eyes can’t tell the difference

There is no math. Some guy just threw some lines on a graph.

You trolling m8? It’s based on the ability to resolve two points assuming 20/20 vision

>i5-8400 and B350
Hahaha, I just realized there probably won't be any Intel B350 boards at all because that's already am AMD thing.

>vega is loud and hot
>30 less degrees than my 380
>can't even hear it at all outside putting fans at 100%
So where did those memes come from?

Shit I got a 380 too, does this mean the Vega will be quieter?
That's a relief.

I need a budget PC case that can hold 5 3.5" hard disks sideways mounted. Do any exist?

You can make it louder if you want. But from my usage yesterday and today it's not needed and I undervolted and overclocked it to 1677mhz.

idle

>built my pc like 4 months ago
>a week back started getting fps drops
>pc wouldnt turn on sometimes even after a restart
>have to open up the pc and basically reseat the components and the wires incase something gets loose till it finally turns on
>after getting fed up of the issue i did extensive googling and found out that i never installed motherboard standoffs on the case

well what now,i thought without standoffs a mobo would just fry and not turn on
could this be my issue?
maybe i installed them and forgot about it

specs
asus b350m-a
ryzen 1600
corsair 3000hz ram at 2114 hz becuase anything hire than that causues the system not to boot
gtx 970

is it a standoff issue or is the gpu dying?
psu maybe?

The 380X I got is the Sapphire Nitro version, that has a pretty nice cooler design, it's very quiet when idle but if I push the fans beyond 60% they are loud as fuck.
I was worried the Vega I ordered would be substantially louder. But I guess my fears were unfounded.

Not like I care about noise a lot, since I play with headphones on, but I still wouldn't want to hear the jet engine while gaming.

Can you guys point me to a good low-spec silent (though I guess the 2 things are inherently similar) build on pcpp?

Wan to buy a dual CPU X79 mobo cause why not (and hackintosh and shit)
Whats the max price I should pay for one of these mobos?

>tfw no Amazon Ireland, and I constantly get heartbroken when I convert Amazon UK prices to euros

And there's no way in hell I'm buying PC parts from Maplin or some other Irish PC retail store, because they charge out the arse to con people who don't know any better

Any fellow Irishmen here willing to tell me where I can get parts online in Ireland?

I had gigabyte g1 version which also got pretty loud in games. For now I can tell you I compared performance and loudness in 2 games.
>pubg
oveclocked 380: everything on low about 55-60fps Temps up to 70
undervolted oc rx56: everything on ultra about 80-100fps inside rooms and 60-70 outside. Temps depedning on how much you're willing to boost the fans I set them at 4000rpm and was getting also 70C with about as much loudness as r9 380. While with fans at about 2500 I was getting 85C but was pretty quiet.
>doom vulkan
380: medium to high settings stable 60fps temps, fan same as above.
rx56: everything on ultra 180-200fps. temps and fans same as above.
Those are 2 games I played for now. I also use some beta drivers 17.30.1051-Beta6-170807a Because I get bsod on new drivers from october. Still not sure what's the cause and if I should rma it or wait for some fix. Today is holiday anyway so I can't do shit other than write on some amd forums asking for help.

FOUR THOUSAND RPM

why are there barely any glossy screens out there senpaitachi. Why can't everyone have my superior taste?

Build some ultrasharps.

as the others have said, do not run untrusted executables if you want to be safe. To be somewhat safe, at least don't run anything shady especially 800kb "codecs" and stuff like that.

daily reminder the GPU is almost always the bottleneck when you cap to 60 in RTSS

i know this from having a 1060 6GB which is essentially just 2 steps from the best GPU

and it cant run "1080p at ultra"

and even when it can its 99%, meanwhile my 7700T is rarely above 60% and thats just for open world games

perfect example, just finished Talos Principle and set everything to max, true max not just the ultra preset and it was destroying the GPU

also Far Cry Primal was getting absolutely raped by it

Is a 230 gbp (260 eur) 580 from assus worth picking up?

amazon.co.uk is stocking ASUS DUAL-RX580-O4G again nov 10 and I'm considering picking one up

1060 6gb seems to be going for ~290 eur for dual fan versions and ~320 for the better dual fan versions

pls respond

How does it feel when you build a mid range build? Do you feel smart and frugal or do you feel like you should have just gone all out?

Alright mate, thanks.
My Vega arrives tomorrow. I really can't wait!

depends on what people consider mid range build

Sounds good

time to wait for like two weeks on my GPU I guess

ive seen lots of people call that graph bullshit though

Who?

I haven't visited these threads in a long time but what the fuck is pcpartpicker and not logical increments with our guro tripfag.

Let's say GTX 1060 and i5 8400

pcpartpicker is simply better for looking what to buy, since it has all the vendors and you can list by price
logical increments is basically just a guide of possible builds at a price point

that sounds pretty all out

Logical instruments is reddit tier. Dude is still recommending 7600k. Like just wow

lol I actually toned it down. I was going to say 1070Ti

take it from me as a 1060 owner, try to get the 1070 instead or 1070ti

im playing 1-2yr older games catching up and its the main bottleneck each time, even when i lock to 60fps in RTSS i have to turn some stuff down (and im not just talking about AA)

actually turns out it's 280 eur with shipping, currency conversion and some random 2 pound pricehike on the gpu itself
s-still good?

Falcon is a retarded shill who only cares about referral money.

Just got a 8600k and I'm getting MSI Z370. It has M.2 which is new to me. Are these NVME drives a meme? They are much smaller, but it seems like you pay more for increased speed that cannot be noticed.

I want to watercool my CPU+GPU a liquid cooler. What are my options and what are trusted brands? My friend was telling me about aftermarket companies that purchase your GPU for you, fit the tubes, then ship it to you after.
