All this shit to see pixelated vomit inducing gaymes

After a year of owning it and using it for a maximum of 20 hours, I'm giving it away tomorrow.

>this many accessories to make it work
3D tv failed because you had to wear glasses, this will fail for more obvious reasons

>Drunkn Bar fight
get it. it's really fucking funny, and one of the better games to boot up when you're showing your headset off to friends.

>Duck Season
just bought this today right before the sale ended but haven't played it yet. i've had it recommended to me and it looks pretty fun.

i've enjoyed Arizona Sunshine and I Expect You To Die titles as well. more obvious recommendations are The Lab and RecRoom since they're free. i played Sairento because it looked badass but i didn't really enjoy it. Pierhead Arcade has some fun arcade games but there's no playerbase. check out the following link to see what people are actually playing. i find some new games from it every now and then. and don't pay attention to current playercount, look at the peak. most popular hours for VR games are at night time, when people get home from work.

sad if true, you didn't even give it a try.

should be obvious virtual fucking reality is a bit more complex than something you just plug into a wall, user. some of those components are optional, or fit together. believe me you can make it much more convoluted than those parts pictured but you're getting all that shit with the price of the headset.

Nice list, thank you.
Accounting is gold, I almost pissed in my pants while playing. (They had it in my uni)
Arizona sunshine might be worth a shot.

Is there a general opinion on the Pimax 8K? It looks almost too good to be true. That Kickstarter version for $500 sit-down VR seems like a very good deal for 2 4K screens, 200 deg FoV, SteamVR support and apparently good tracking too.

It's looking like an especially sweet deal in EU compared to other headsets, because they're supposedly also shipping from an EU warehouse, so you can get it for $500 rather than paying VAT on top. All in all this shit looks too good to be true compared to a Vive or Rift, what's the catch?

there is nothing Sup Forums related in vr except hentai

I'm very sceptical because the pimax 4K really is shit except for the resolution.
Wait for actual testresults and hands-on reports.

What's so bad about the 4K? I've seen some complaints that it's 60Hz and has some motion blur, anything else? 8K is supposed to be 80-90Hz and they have supposedly addressed the blur.

The LCDs are crappier than the OLED's of other HMDs (except for the resolution). Things like contrast, speed and so on. Software is also a pain in the ass.
Sitting vr without handtracking is really keeping out the good stuff. True immersion starts with roomscale movement and handtracking. Wether you see a pixelgrid or not is not that much of a deal, eg contrast is more important.
If you dont want a full feature HMD you can just get a gear vr

I want to play games with true (or at least close to true) depth perception and a wide FoV, I am not interested in Gear VR.

If all the good stuff requires motion controllers and hand waving I should probably hold off, since those games aren't really what I'm interested in. All I want is wide FoV immersion with depth perception and rotational head tracking in normal games with normal controls. I'm sure room scale is an interesting experience, but the actual gameplay in everything I've seen looks slow, clumsy and awkward as fuck, that teleporting too. If that's the best there is I'll wait longer to see how things pan out.

what's the catch?
>chink company+kikestarter
They want to ship in January and they still don't have a final prototype.

Can't wait for the delays and the big dissapointment when they finally release a product with a bunch of problems.

>chink company+kikestarter
Yeah, those are the red flags which made me skeptical in the first place, I was interested in anything specific which might be known about prototypes (which some people did get to try) and/or the company in general.

>2x 4k screens not actually 8k
>basically impossible to actually run games at the screen's native resolution anyway
>"wider fov" is achieved by stretching the image and not actually increasing the in game fov

3d tv failed because it was retarded, implemented at the wrong market, had literally no content, and was made at the turn of the millennium.
the vr headsets from the 90s failed for the same reason.

From the reviews I've read of people using it, you don't get the advertised 90hz even when using a 1080FE. Apparently it's more like 75hz. They mentioned some other minor improvements such as the better resolution, but nothing really game changing over the Vive/Rift

If you're not a game dev then you're not going to get much joy out of it.

Don't get me wrong.
The technology is amazing. My first impressions were definitely a 10/10. However the games feel more like mini games and gimmicks.

If you back it, you get a hardhat syle strap, an eye tracking modules and some games for free, plus $100 towards a wireless module

Also they're being kinda sketchy about what hz it will actually run at. Currently the highest they can get is 82hz but the demos have been 75hz and the flicker can be visible.

i cant even be bothered taking my vive out for porn anymore. The clunkiness of making it all work each time you wanna play is too much.
And when you do finally play, the games are half assed and the resolution is only good enough for objects close to the face.

I used to be worried about having the thing become obsolete within a year. Now im more worried that they dont have a leap in technology on the horizon and still havent worked out any uniquely VR AAA games to blow our minds.

We're in this annoying no mans land where modern pcs are overkill for standard monitors but woefully underpowered for crystal clear wide fov VR with modern AAA graphics.

IT'S SO HARRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDD TO PUT THE 30-PEICE SET OF BRICKS TOGETHERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

MOMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Dirt Rally VR vrmmmmmmmmmm *tires squeal*

You can watch porn on it, though a vive is a bit overkill for that. Gear VR should be sufficient for porn

VRChat
what else do you need this shit for?

>i cant even be bothered taking my vive out for porn anymore
SBS videos suck, only decent experience so far was with Japanese games like CM3D2, Honeyselect, and VR Kanojo.

>resolution is only good enough for objects close to the face
fuck no, I hate when content is right in your face. There is a nuisance with current VR HMD optics called vergence conflict accommodation.
Can't focus normally on objects up close.

Basically nipples in your face will look blurry if you try to focus on them, but if you focus further away the nipple in your face will look nice and sharp. Huge turn off.
Try it for yourself, if you have a vive/rift bring the motion controller close to your face to the point where you go cross eyed and try looking at the object then focusing far away by looking near the edge of the object and you will instantly know what I mean.

>Honeyselect
Hell yes.

It's weird. I made a loli and tried fucking it in VR, but quickly realized I got more turned on by fucking an adult model I made. I'm not sure how to explain that, especially since I've fapped specifically to loli for the past who knows how many years.

>The clunkiness of making it all work each time you wanna play is too much.
I agree it doesn't have the ease of use as just popping up a few videos and wanking, but that'll only happen once VR almost replaces monitors.

Also, what's the best program for turning your desktop into a VR environment, preferably something that doesn't..make any online connections..

get revive and echo arena (free) and lone echo for sure the best vr games.

close second is onward if you like shooters at all.

freebies worth getting:
rec room
google earth
vr chat
aircar
accounting
budget cuts demo

honorable mentions:
dirt rally
windlinds
gorn

a lot of people love elite dangerous i cant comment tho

thats just off the top of my head, great games

Thats alotta shit to set up for something that i doubt you would use very often.

Unless youve got a dedicated room for it it looks like this shit would be cluttered as hell

Had mine ordered since day one, haven't been using it an awful lot either, but lately I have been picking it up more for cockpit sims (iron wolf, il2 BoS, VTOLVR,... etc), some shooting sims like H3VR, and minigolf.
VR chat looks interesting but I can't be fucked talking to people, only run VRChat/Bigscreen/etc... once in a blue moon to listen and look at people goofing around.

There is enough content to keep me occupied but I come back home too exhausted to bother doing anything worthwhile. Need a good long break to get into sims with a steep learning curve which you can't just pickup and play on a whim.
Nothing really caught my eye, but at least some shoe string budget VR content is still more engaging and exciting than most traditional content coming out these days even if for a short while.
I thought I'd be all over it for porn but I don't have the vigour I used to have as a teenager, not in the mood for it most of the time.

Craving:
>combined arms fps with multiple crew members in vehicles like forgotten hope 2 or planetside 1
>Mechwarrior like sim
panzerwehr 1949 maybe
>game similar to space engineers with motion controllers where you get to build and program logic for all manner of contraptions in space and on planets.
Just completely burnt out and knackered, nothing to look forward to besides perhaps M&B2 and budget cuts, even then not terribly excited about either.

I have messed with HS much, mostly played CM3D2. Wish there was a more detailed game similar to AA2 for VR.

Nah, don't really like the anime style. Prefer the realism of HS.

I find the uncanny valley of more realistic depictions creepy.

Close content has the best 3soreal feel to it imo. Yea maybe if its right at your eyes thats too much but im talking about that sweet zone around 10-40cm.
Once distance is involved the experience goes to shit. Movies with 3d are amazing on VR till the camera pans out. Cockpit games are ruined too iirc because the thing you are chasing after becomes a fuzzy dot in a poorly resolute landscape.

>Cockpit games are ruined too iirc because the thing you are chasing after becomes a fuzzy dot in a poorly resolute landscape.
I agree, the technology will improve soon enough. Right now it is tolerable, the novelty has long since worn off for me but I still love the idea of the interactive cockpit with motion controllers in VTOLVR.
It just feels right man, a hotas would obviously have better haptics but you just can't have the flexibility of changing cockpit layout with 1:1 scale interaction on a whim without changing your equipment.
You'd have to build a replica cockpit with all the bells and whistles for each different model of aircraft/mech/submarine etc...

I hope to see more games like VTOLVR, or DCS sim adding support for motion controllers.

nothing uncanny about it to me

The requirements for 8k res(4k per lens) is too high for the average consumer though.

Actually, it's too high for the above average gamer.
Most seasoned gamers have 1060's or 1070's.

For 8k at max res silk smooth 90hz, I imagine you'd need a Titan XP($1200)

Another thing I noticed is that in VR, the women are really small. I'm only like 5'9, and they're way shorter than me, like 5'0. I guess when you're looking at them from the char maker, they all look 6ft+.

I've had my Vive 3 weeks and I'm twice that, spend some fucking money on games
H3VR is the shit my dude, clocked up 10 in that alone, keep coming back
Superhot is fun for about an hour but it's crazy good fun
Gorn is great too if you have a big enough space, my mate accidentally smashed the return key on my Model M into 30 fucking pieces when he was playing
Pavlov VR is garbage btw, but it's good quick fun
VR Chat is also a good time if you're feeling social / drinking too much soy milk
Also fucking around making meme games in Unity is a good time

Thinking about buying a Vive because of New Retro Arcade.
What's the best porn games, whats the best racing games?

Imagine watching porn on Virtual Boy

It could probably be alleviated with foveated rendering. All of the 8k headsets come with eye tracking, so it is possible.

>just fapped to fucking in Honey Select VR
Still good, though I think we really need a true VR illusion game, not just an second thought addon.

Would be nice to be able to use the grip controls to move limbs while an animation is playing

I bought it a couple months ago but the only good game that I've found for it has been h3vr. Any suggestions on more games? I'm also looking for good porn for it that isn't just 360 videos
