I got chinked on amazon from a German seller

'lelno' is it Photoshop?

Hey folks, is there anything particular to look out for or be careful of when bidding on ebay? Hoping to get a T420.

yes u never know teyre just waiting for the next step my friend next step and they got u damn

Any reason to get discrete graphics on Thinkpads if I already have a gaming desktop? Should I just stick with integrated graphics? Moving on from my X230 and lookin' at a T440p for my next purchase.

I use my T440p as main computer with a docking station and two monitors and the HD4600 is more than enough for me. I don't play videogames though.

Is there a big difference in performance between the various C2D used in the X200?

nice knife

anyone here with an x250?

did you bother upgrading to a FHD display, is it worth it?

just return and call the seller a "gross faggotten" or huge faggot

If you don't like it, don't use it, faggots

I mean how much do you game?
the HD 4000 can pull a lot of casual sort of demanding shit like overwatch and mgstpp
but its no 730M

Probably not. You could easily make that with an extra Lenovo sticker.

For the X41 guy.

What do you think of the laptop in the current year running Linux?

How's the battery life?
How's the screen?
How is it running a browser and some light (

probably
but its embedded into the lid
there'd at least be a hole there

been using an x131e model for a while now and I'm not entirely sure if I like it. I have both the AMD and Intel version. The intel is so much better but it heats up like fucking crazy even while idling. I put an ssd and let it sit for 5 minutes and it's very hot to the touch. It's not even where the CPU sits as the fan isn't blowing hard at all. It's around where the wireless card and RAM are. The AMD version doesn't have this problem at all. It doesn't get hot at all, really.

is there any way to fix this?

what battery can you recommend for a t420.

the one compatible with a t420

Leave and never come back, or at the very least LURK MOAR.

>GROSS FAGGOTTEN
Thanks dude, that made me laugh so much.

the oem one
chinks use garbage cells they get from the trash

Since when did you guys start getting mad about having what is at it's core a ThinkPad IRC?

Shit didn't realise my T430 keyboard has Fn key in bottom left instead of Ctrl. Easy way of remapping in Linux?

by pressing f1 while booting up and swapping in the bios

just browsing through amazon the original batteries have a worse rating than 3rd party types most of the reviews are claiming the batteries are losing a bunch capacity after 4 months already. How's your expierence with that

I bought a new unused lenovo battery for my T430
its good

>got a t420s
>t420s got a too low battery life
>need bigger battery life for university life
>want a lenovo thinkpad

>~8-10HRS battery life
>Full HD Screen would be nice
>not too expensive (no 1000$ stuff)

Which one would you recommend my lenobros?

W700DS

t440p

X230 with 9 cell and slice

on amazon or directly from lenovo.com

from some office clearing out stock
literally undid the tape myself

bouth sound nice... price is also nice and specs as well. How long is the ~Battery life with a 9 cell and ultrabay?

>what is at it's core a ThinkPad IRC
As if. Discord is meant for children and retards too stupid to use IRC. Not to mention it's completely proprietary and their entire business model is built upon datamining.

you mean the slice right?
AFAIK you get around 24+ on windows

Slice hooks up with the dock connector right? Is it like a extra battery? Like the ultrabay?

yeah

Just got a X100E for $20 bucks on ebay kek.

Well that's nice. Thanks for the advise, gonna look what's avaiable on ebay

theres one for the T430/T420 too if youre interested

but why

Now I'm wondering why I even got a T420s... it was pretty cheap but the battery life is hell.

T420 with 9 cell slice and an ultrabay battery... sounds awesome

have you tried ultrabay battery plus 9 cell?

Name my thinkpads

With the T420s? Not yet but I already tought about buying an ultrabay for it. But it seems like there is only a 6 cell avaiable for the t420s.

I really like this thing... but I really need to improve the battery life. Like I said... the only possible way is an ultrabay as far as I know.

oh yeah the T420s doesnt have a 9 cell
the extra 3 cell ultrabay battery should help a lot though

>20 dollar thinkpad
dude why not
almost free

1, 2, 3, and 4

But another way could be a powerful powerbank and an Adapter for it. But I think a powerbank which is able to load a Laptop is expensive af lol

Muddy, Muddier, Muddiest, Brian

oh def since you also have to pack in a dc to ac converter (or something along those lines)

>teeny weenie
>helicopter dick
>mediocre michael
>uncle tony

I think it's better and easier to get a X230 with a 9cell :D Hope it's not to expensive here in germany. People are often way2greedy

europe has some funky prices sometimes

>x220
>x220
>x220
>x220
all thinkpads are X220s

>trash

As a germanon trying to get a T440, honestly, fuck the used market. People have no fucking idea what they are doing. Selling a fucking 8GB RAM ,500GB HDD with a 1366p screen for over 400 fucking Euros

Could get a used one with 8GB Ram, no ips and i5 3th gen for 230€. But there probably isnt a 9 cell included... :D

I can't decide which Thinkpad I should get. I will be using it mostly for University and watching Netflix / Twitch. No Gaming. I need the portability, but not exclusively. So weight is important, but not that much. I use it alot every day, so a good screen would be good. No or rarely outside usage. I don't need more than 10h of battery runtime, but if I take the T470 I will take the 72wh external battery.
However, sell me one of these two setups, I can't really decide which one to get:
T470 - 1199EUR:
i5-7200U
1x8GB RAM
512 GB NVME-SSD
FHD Display
3yr bring in warranty
Win10
T470s - 1299EUR:
i5-7200U
8GB RAM (4GB soldered + 1x4GB)
512GB NVME SSD
WQHD Display
3yr on-site warranty
Linux Mint
What bothers me most about the T470 is the atrocious display. Main concern about the T470s is the soldered RAM and that I can't use my 2242 256GB SSD in the WWAN slot.
I'm leaning towards the T470s but I'm really not sure and I hope anyone of you guys can talk me into one of these models.

I dont need or want an older Thinkpad. I need a reliable machine for at least 4 years without having to do fixing / worrying about battery life

There are also people (old people often) which sell Desktop PCs for 50€, which are worth 150+ lol

It's a fucking chat
Stop caring so much about being a special snowflake who knows how to use outdated technology

what is the superior meme machine, [XT]6[01]

btw. I could import a used X230 i5 ips, ssd and so on from the USA, pay 50$ shipping 50$ customs and it's cheaper than buying a used x230 without ips and hdd from germany lol

It is.

Look close to the "O" st the bottom.

Can't choose between T601F and X61T. I really enjoy both machines.

why u have 4 thinkpads?

>Stop caring about... [knowing] how to use outdated technology
I really love how you newfags lack any awareness. You're in /tpg/ for god's sake! is literally trying to discuss the X41, a 12-year-old laptop! If you're not impassioned about discussing technology, then what are you doing on Sup Forums in the first place?

Ok /tpg/, i mode my x220 bios and now i search for the best setup, can yall help me? I current stock in the pic related. What is the difference between direct Connect and CableUp?

my volume control GUI has disappeared on windows 7.
help?

>windows 7
Try turning it off and on again.

link IRC then boys xDD

nope.
I'm not sure which software it uses

>Ctrl+alt+del
>kill explorer.exe
>go to archive in monitor search for explorer.exe in windows folder and open it again

Bump

nice
They are still expensive where I live.

ThinkPads are still valid in [current year], IRC is not. Discord is one of many programs that evolved from IRC.

Posted before.
My brand new Thinkpad 13 is turning into a jet engine with literally only Chrome open.
There are roughly 20 tabs open, a few of which are Google Docs and one GDrive tab, and some other websites (whastapp web, MSDN, Sup Forums etc.)

It's the i3 7100u version with 4GB RAM, running Debian 9.

Is this normal? Should the laptop be working this hard just to run fucking Chrome, with less tabs and programs open than my fucking phone?

What kind of dock is it ? Comes with 6x usb

i opened my thinkpad to change thermal paste but now i can't put the keyboard back in place. it slides in the bottom part, but the top part doesnt fit.

tfw fellow x220 bro, life is pain knowing I can't libreboot with it

>chrome
found your problem

My old ASUS S200-E ran it fine no problems. - with a 1.8Ghz i3.

Anyone else ordered the t420s/t430s wqhd kit? Any screens in particular you're looking at?

maybe see if tpfancontrol works for that model?

What's that?
Why would it be running this hard in the first place? Wouldn't reducing the fanspeed put the CPU at risk of overheating?

just google it, the program will make the fan run at the lowest possible setting whilst maintaining low temps

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
Is it a known bug for Thinkpads to run their fans faster then needed then?

Well, such a program doesn't exist for nothing, but I don't really know. My t430s' fan was always on (though not running very fast) and with tpfancontrol it's off a lot of the time, with temps staying pretty low. Seems the fan running wasn't really necessary.

why do you need tps for fan scaling? How can something that critical not work properly out of the box? Isn't this more of a problem with drivers, considering he's using Debian

I have no idea.
I read over the debian part though, thought he was running windows. Luckily there's also a thinkwiki page for that thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_control_fan_speed

Yeah although you should really check drivers before doing anything else.
Fan scaling should be done without user intervention.
If he starts messing with fan control and doesn't properly set it up, it will have pretty shitty effects on the hw in the long term

HERE WE FUCKIN' GO, LADS

How would I go about getting drivers for this then?
I don't really know where to start when it comes to Debian/Linux in general.
