If you want help:
>State the budget & CURRENCY for your build
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs:
>NO i5 7500/7600K or i7 7700/K. THEY ARE DEFUNCT AND SUPERSEDED BY COFFEE LAKE
>G4560/G4600 for non-gaming (light tasks) or bare minimum gaming builds with a dedicated graphics card
>R3 1200 - Budget builds (best with OC + fast RAM)

literally about to buy this.
jelly?

1060 or 580?

I'm looking to upgrade my 1050 Ti. I know it's the same gen and all but I really want something better and 1070 is way overpriced here and overkill for my needs (1080/60Hz). Just the 1060 is $385. How long will the 1060 stay viable for high/ultra 60fps?

Honestly, I'm going to be getting a 1060 too (upgrading from a 680), and not many games I see on the market demand more than a 1060. Even the new Wolfenstein wants a 1060 recommended.

You're wasting money buying a 1070 unless you really just want to jerk yourself off.

Spend the extra money on silent Noctua fans

Ok guys, here is my current build:
CPU: i5-4690K OC'd @ 4.3GHz
Mobo: Asus Z97-P
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 16gb (4x4GB) 1866MHz
Storage: 250GB SSD; 1TB 7200RPM
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 OC 4GB
Monitor: ViewSonic XG2401 144hz
PSU: Corsair CX series 600W modular 80 plus Bronze

I want to upgrade this pc to make the most of the 144hz monitor when gaming. I have attempted to OC the cpu past 4.3GHz but all I get are BSoDs. Should I be worried about those BSoDs? Should I just upgrade my gpu and leave everything else as is, or should I consider a new mobo; CPU; Ram and PSU? Don't really have a budget as I'm not sure what I need to change yet, live in euroland though for what it's worth.

>tfw just got an old 1080 for less than a new 1070
Sure I'm jerking myself off

You're the rare exception, buddy, not the rule.

If you can get a 580 for cheap go for it, even the 4gig version is equivalent to the 1060 6gig and there is some room for overclock.
It really is just a matter of your taste in the end, they're equivalent.

how do I use those hdmi ports? why are they on the inside?

>G4560/G4600
>$105
lol, no.

Most likely for VR. a case would have extension leads for them to go to the chasis most likely

By now it's not worth it to get the g4560/g4600, part is the price, part is the fact there are better choices. If you're just starting your build you should consider a Ryzen 1300x or the i3 8400.

>If you can get a 580 for cheap go for it, even the 4gig version is equivalent to the 1060 6gig and there is some room for overclock.
really?
I was worried about buying amazon.co.uk/dp/B071NS93PH/ because I thought it'd be another 1060 3gb fiasco

the 580 8gb & 1060 6gb seem to be pretty similar in performance, with a 5%'ish boost in whichever card the game prefers
whereas the 580 4 gig seems to just have a flat 5% decrease in FPS over the 8 gig version

ça a l'air bon en criss ça

is 400$ for an sapphire nitro+ rx580 8gb too much? i am new to gpu prices

I can get a new one for 360€ and GPU prices seem to be aids here compared to NA so probably

All the initial reviews seem to show that a GTX 1070 Ti is more or less a GTX 1080 for $50 less in terms of performance after OC. Considering you can't even get Vega AIB cards and you'd need a hybrid mod to get the same performance, Vega is just hotter and more power hungry for the same price/performance right now. Will see how miners feel about the 1070 Ti.

VR headset passthrough to front header.

You need to clarify if that's USD or not. That's the price of stock Vega 56 right now (again USD) so hell no.

Should I buy a PC worth $2000 from craigslist for $1000? Comes with a 980 TI. I'll have the dude run a benchmark, but I still don't know if this is a good idea. Anyone have experience with buying second hand PC's online? $1000 is a lot of money and I have no way to get the money back if it suddenly shits itself.

I'm guessing it's CAD. A 580 is about $400 here.

Maybe its because some 580's 4gb have the memory clocked at 1750mhz while the 8gb have it at 2000mhz.

You can look at some benchmarks I did of mine.

This is the default:

And this is oc:

mem @ 2000mhz

>1050 Ti
how old is your 1050ti?
Willing to sell someone a used christmas price?

at the start of december i'll be getting a 1300x, 8gb ddr4 and probably a 1050ti, is that okay? should i go for 1060 3gb + 1200 for better gaming performance? also any brand recommendations for a gtx 1050 ti? not sure which one to go for

Thinking about buying a Ryzen 7 machine.
Parts List: ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/RKjJ6X

Usage Scenarios: Development, VM use, Light Gaming at 1080p

I don't plan to OC; though I would like a system that doesn't sound like a fucking jet engine. I chose the case as it looked easy to work with.

Suggestions Welcome

>1200W psu

lmao wat. Good deal though.

for a ryzen 1300x, how fast should my ddr ram be? is 2400 enough?

2400 is fine. Ryzen just works BETTER with higher ram. I have 2400 in my 1600. I'll upgrade it sooner or later

THIS IS THE LAST TIME I'VE BEEN RUSED BY AYYMD

pcpartpicker didn't get my RAM compatibility right for my ryzen 7 mobo

Also, the CPU you selected comes with a cooler. You don't need to buy a separate one, especially if you don't plan to overclock.

Mets-en

I bought it at the beginning of summer. If I do buy a 1060, I'll probably try pawning my 1050ti off to my brother for like $100 just to not be at a total loss (paid around +$200 for it). He has a 950 atm so it's a slight upgrade

Get the 3gb 1060

Wouldn't the stock cooler be absolute garbage whenever the system is under load? I'm try to avoid excessive noise if its feasible.

Sometimes not using the stock cooler even voids your warranty--they specifically ship one they know can handle the CPU at factory clock under load. It's definitely OK, and it's actually a decent cooler (pic is what came with my R7). Can't speak much about noise, though. Haven't used mine much yet without wearing headphones so I barely notice.

Sounds good.

Any thoughts on the PSU? 650W seems high seeing as (according to PCPartPicker) I'm only hitting 243W.

It's pretty good, but with an overclock and doing 100% workload (rendering a video with AE/Premiere) it gets pretty loud.
I don't mind because this is a rare thing for me, and under gaming loads its' very quiet, my GPU is much louder than the CPU.
However, if you're worried about noise levels getting an aftermarket cooler is a no brainer, higher TDP, better fan curve, bigger heatsink.
I use the Wraith cooler because it looks COOL

No, the wraith is already a decent cooler

Sorry to tell you, but that whole "not using the stock cooler breaks warranty" is bullshit. They have no way of proving if you were using their stock cooler, or even using a custom water loop.

That said, I'm still tempted to get the AMD wraith MAX. Around the same performance as a 212 Evo Evo. But top down cooler is good for VRM cooling as well. Sucks it's fucking $80

I use the stock cooler with my 1600 and it's fine. It's not really loud

Hey, I have a Corsair steel series 500R white case from 2011 that my cousin put my current PC parts into about two years ago.

Pic related. Do I need to buy a new one? I hope I don't.

This one has tons of fan space, a 200mm fan on the side and three 120/140mm fans. It has compatibility with SSDs already built in, and room for storage expansion. It's wide enough to allow for most graphics card sizes

It's mid-tower and can hold ATX and micro ATX. Should I just hold onto this instead of blowing money on a new one?

Wait to see how Coffee Lake affects the used prices, you might find a 4790k for cheap, there still isn't much that becomes UNPLAYABLE on only 8 threads. I've been looking into it myself, but I live in an absolute shithole where for now it's impossible to find a 4790k for less than 300€

Why would you need to buy a new one?

My current system is
>R7-1700X @ stock under a Thermaltake silent 14 cooler
>32GB DDR4-2400mhz CL14 (4x8GB)
>EVGA GTX 980ti classified
>Several SSDs

Does /pcbg/ see a weak point anywhere? I game on a 32" Samsung 2560x1440p 60hz monitor. Does 3000-3200mhz ram really make a difference? I ask because I'm thinking of putting a non X R7-1700 in my server, and moving my current ram over, then buying 16GB of the fastest ram I can get. I just don't know if it's worth the price.

Yeah, I'll admit it's practically a myth by now, but it would still be the height of retardation for a company to ship an expensive CPU with a cooler that's inadequate for stock speeds. That's just asking to pay out the ass for warranty repairs.

For what reason would you need a new case? So long as you've been taking care of your box, no bent panels, missing screws, or broken USB header, a case should last damn near a life time. Especially considering your case is full ATX capable and had plenty of fan mounting options

Get 3000MHz

All you need is a new graphics card

I suppose you're right. I need to basically upgrade everything inside it, so I just hope everything will be okay with it. I'm a newfag when it comes to PC part upgrading and building

Yup it should all be fine in that case. Your case supports full ATX motherboards, full ATX based power supplies (i.e. 95% of all power supplies).

Only thing to watch for would be CPU cooler clearance and graphics card length. If too tall or too long, there will be issues putting the side panel on, or the card may hit the hard drive cages

I'm planning on getting a small GPU anyway, like the Zotac 1060 6gb

Oh ok that works. I remember I had to really measure with like a tap measure to see if the sapphire Fury nitro would fit inside my fractal R5 without have to remove the HDD cages. That card was almost 12.5" long.

Don't get a single fan 1060

jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=196
I have this PSU.
Is it safe to run it at 90% load (GTX 1070TI/1080 + i7 4790k)

Why the fuck would you need a r7 1700 and 32gb ram in your server? Send me a gtx 1050 if you're that rich please

Why?

You could run the pc no issue with the psu regardless of 1070ti/1080. But idk how much overclocking you'd be able to do.

450W is a bit anemic.
Guru 3D recommends 450W for the 1070, and 500 for the 1080.
If anything the fan will always be spinning, which could be pretty noisy, but you should be within safe operational margins.

>I7-4790k
>1070ti and 1080 in SLI I presume
No. I mean technically yes, the PC should boot, but you'd be treading a very thin line and especially on an SFX power supply. Smaller internals means more heat and being SFX the cooling fan is also smaller. You'd more than likely kill that supply via heatstroke within a month or 2. Last, that power supply is only bronze rated meaning you're only getting around 430w and 36-38 amps. All of that means you're rather anemic.

Time for a new PSU

Is it normal for the ASUS GTX 1080 TI Turbo to be so noisy that it sounds like a jet plane?
I only got it because it was a good price but holy crap.

Welp, at least my new case can fit ATX PSUs

Turn down the fan speed?
It shouldn't sound like a jet engine unless shit's getting really hot.

>Is it normal for a blower type graphics card to be so noisy

Yes

Asus turbo cards are always the shittiest gtx cards and they are worse than founder's edition cards. Do yourself and the gpu a favour and get an aftermarket cooler

>ASUS GTX 1080 TI Turbo
My blower card is not that noisy though.
Maybe his case is really open or something, because my blower cards were loud but they weren't jet engine tier unless fans were above 60 to 70% speed.

I encode and edit a lot of video. I own a very large physical Blu-ray, movie, and music collection that I rip and encode myself. The server would be handling 2-3 VMs as well because I'd like to get my family off of independent machines and onto thin clients because they can't seem to stop clicking on everything and infecting their machines. Add in that I also have 5 network shares accessible by 10 clients at any given time, automated backups for all the shares, a network shared all in one printer. I also plan on making my own VPN and cloud. Just haven't because current server is so low power.

My current Haswell Pentium and 4GB of ram chokes from time to time.

>Rich
Lol no. Far from poor, but just as far from Rich. I'll be buying this probably using a small portion of my tax return. Figure $500 (or 1/5th my return) for everything new.

>ASUS GTX 1080 TI Turbo

Why the quote? The Turbo IS a blower card

Yes sorry, didn't notice that I quoted that. Ignore it.

That's what I had in mind, it reaches 80C at 80% load and sounds like a god damn jet engine.
I'm gonna get an Acellero IV, I only got it because it was as cheap as a GTX 1080.

You get what you pay for, user.

>THIS TOTALLY HAPPENED GUISE I SWAR!

jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story5&reid=185

Im considering this Seasonic S12 II Bronze 520W to replace it, thoughts?

>millenials
>retards
>weebs

What a choice...

Cheers, am I a complete goy if I go for a 1070?

It did user, I have a 600€ paperweight.

Already repackaged it to send it for RMA tomorrow morning. I'm really sad.

That's what I went for in my pc
>4790
>Gtx970
Was out of stock so I got a 620 instead. Probably for the better, psu load is at ~50%, and the noise stays down.

That's actually a great idea. Also the accellero iv is on amazon for only 60$

Wasn't the accelero iv meant for lower power gpu's, or am I confusing them?

well above 2666mhz it's not worth it pay more for higher speed ram. If you can get cheap 3200mhz though go for it

Still not exactly giving yourself a lot of room. Don't go so cheap. Look for at least a 650w and gold or higher rating. Try an EVGA 650G.

I personally have a seasonic 650w prime titanium I paid $110 for.
Yea no ram is cheap right now. I'm willing to spend up to $180 for an 16GB kit of fast ram. Thinking maybe even 3600mhz. I don't mind the price so much so long as I'm not buying placebo.

What said, give yourself some headroom, you might buy a GPU in the future that's more power hungry, higher rated PSUs are always better, quieter and run cooler.

For example my system had a 500W requirement, and I have 750W gold PSU, so it's quiet and has lots of headroom.

The PSU is the one component you don't wanna cheap out on, a bad PSU can fry your entire system, and a loud PSU will always be loud when under load, and you can't tweak the fan curve.

Here you go user. This is actually quite a good deal

it's rated for 300watt tdp wtf are you talking about

unless you're extremely extremely lucky and following amd's ram compatibility list to the point and buying the highest rated ram from the lest you won't be able to get ram to run at 3600 mhz on ryzen

Let us know whether that RAM works at 3200

The 4GB 580 should be slightly cheaper than the 6GB 1060. If there's more than a 15-20% difference between the price of the 3GB 1060 and the 6GB 1060, the 6GB card is over priced

How long? As long as games get made for the PS4 Pro

G4600 is $85

If USD, definitely. Seems like you're too retarded to state your currency

You always run a risk with craigslist

1200 + 1060

You can get a 1070. A lower tier card will be fine as well

Zero day reminder;
Don't buy 1070Ti at zero day, it'll get cheaper soon. Let (((them))) balance the prices.

Oh I see. That's unfortunate. What brand of 3200mhz 2x8GB kit has the highest success rate with Ryzen? I'd like to be able to just set and forget. Corsair seems to be having issues where as G-skill has better luck. At least from what I'm reading online. Pic related is what I'm looking at. They're 3200mhz at CL14 rather than the standard CL16 most other 3200 kits are rated at. It's why their price is inflated.

Why do I think you're just larping as a favela nigger and your card is actually fine?

>((()))
is this the new """""""""""""""benisXD"""""""""?

Corsair vengeance 2x 8gb werks at rated 3000hz for me in r5 after bios update
Check mobo qvl

Just buy the ones from picrelated and you're good.

fuck Sup Forums

Nope, (((Some of them))) know why we using this.

I haven't been playing close attention to 1070Ti prices, but graphics cards are all overpriced right now and often a component will get released at MSRP then spike; just look at Coffee Lake our the release of the original RX cards

The 3000MHz Team Dark that I have in the OP pcpartpicker seems to work with Ryzen (or at least the mobo I have or paired with) and it's about $180 for 2x 8GB

Looks like a vagene to me

I wrote a very long response and Firefox crashed, so I'll just make it quick.
Yes it did happen and yes it is dead.
I tried everything I could come up with and that would come up on google, 4 hours of troubleshooting.

More than angry I am sad, now I have to wait for a replacement to be shipped to me. And no I'm not going to get a 1080, I'll just get another Vega, but if that one also ships dead I will get a Jewvidia card.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll keep my eye on prices of ram as time goes on as the ram switch (if there will be one) is going to be happening within a month more than likely.

Does anyone ITT own a non X R7-1700? How well can it be underclocked? It's stock wattage is around 65w under full load. I'd like to reduce that to around 50w or less preferably. I'd be pairing the chip with an ASRock X370 taichi for Dem 10 SATA ports. Probably a GT210 as well god forbid I every actually have to hook up the server to a monitor.

4GB 580 is $20 cheaper than a 6GB 1060. Would the 580 be a better purchase? I'm not sure what the main differences between these cards is. Obviously rhe 6GB VRAM would probably be better, right?

>asus
Did you even try to plug it into different PCIe port?

More ram is better yes. However in terms of raw power, an RX580 is faster than a 1060. Even more so when you start to factor in Vulcan API and DX12

Obviously, was the first thing I did.
Trust me user, I tried everything. The card is dead.
