So with the old v1 Captcha becoming unusable in the next few months, we should try and figure out what Sup Forums can do going forward. Hiro already said he might consult Sup Forums on what can be done, in this thread here
What I've thought of so far: >starting a thread requires a captcha >1 captcha must be filled out every 2 hours, or 25 posts >if any of your posts triggers the spam filter you must fill out a captcha
This way, spamming will still be kept to a minimum, while regular posting will become easier.
What are your thoughts Sup Forums? If anyone has any other ideas go ahead and mention them in this thread.

>1 captcha must be filled out every 2 hours, or 25 posts You can buy 1000 captcha solves for $0.5. So 25 spam posts makes 50,000 spam posts for $1. That's pretty bad in my opinion.

Use non google captcha

What's wrong with v2?

slow, time consuming, annoying, doesn't always work
Just buy a pass

captcha farms are only a thing because southeast asia is poor af. if we can just manipulate their currencies or sink the dollar then we can fix that problem at its root. porblem solve :DDDDDDD

I think hiro was saying something along the lines of google shouldering all server costs of captcha if you use theirs, but if you use a third party captcha then it would be Sup Forums's responsibility.

>What's wrong with v2? If you think there's nothing wrong with v2 then you are probably logged into a google account at all times.

I felt the rage rising within me as I watched that.

there are other chans with way less buttfucking captcha systems that don't have spam problems. They're almost certainly getting kickbacks for using you to feed the jewgle botnet so why would they want to stop that?
Jacob Robinson
The spambot's time is not worth spamming a board with 10 users.
Levi Powell
Or nuke the humans but leave their machines running so we can get on their websites still then we solve the captcha problem without doing any harm.
Cameron Cooper
25 posts seems a bit much, how about 5-10?
Gavin Cook
>You can buy 1000 captcha solves for $0.5. Source?
>So 25 spam posts makes 50,000 spam posts for $1. Only if none of them gets caught in the filter, which is very unlikely.
Brandon Gray
captcha must be filled out every 2 hours, or 25 posts I think we should reduce that. 5 or 10 posts and 30 minutes seems better. But I'm taking it out of my ass, I don't know how expensive it is to create and serve your own captchas for a user base like Sup Forums's.
I guess Hiro should implement something on the lines of what you suggested, OP, and fine tune the parameters with experimental data.

>Hiro already said he might consult Sup Forums on what can be done Hiro doesn't give a fuck what Sup Forums thinks. Unless he needs a logo. Otherwise, don't hold your breath.
>What are your thoughts Sup Forums? Hiro has explained several times that he isn't going to implement captcha on Sup Forums servers. That means no 'x' captcha every 'y' hours. Google plans to deprecate V1 captcha. The only way to post on Sup Forums after that happens will be to use the new version or buy a pass. I guess convincing Google to do something is also an option but not a realistic one in my opinion.
I use "legacy captcha". I am sad to see it go. It would be great if we could continue to use it. But Hiro has already said he isn't adding anything server side. It is pointless to keep throwing out ideas that can only be implemented server side. It isn't going to happen.
