I really think the Middle-East has a brighter future, because it can barely got any worse than now. And Europe will use all those ports and cheap wages to produce their products there, which will improve their economies. Tunisia is doing better and better already.

I think the countries on the Andes, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia will do good. But the northern coast, from Maracaibo in Venezuela to Bahia in Brazil, is fucked.

the future of Argentina depends on the modern president and his success, he has to prove it is possible to do good without a populist peronist in power.

Latin America is the least densely populated region of the world and with more resources per capita, despite it's problems it's managed a middle class status for most countries/populations and is working on integration which, unlike the EU, will probably stop with labor mobility. It will be a while before the region quite catches up to the deveoped world but it certainly has a promising future.

Eastern Europe is steadily also rising it's living standards and really has no obstacles other than the geopolitics of Russia, which should eventually move towards stabilizing. The demographic mess is a bit more worrysome here but they'll have the advantage of learning from Western Europe's mistakes and are unlikely to open up to massive immigration.

North Africa is fucked by Islam, no matter how good it gets it will remain an issue for the foreseeable future as it will limit the extent to whch they can build truly modern demovratic institutions. If things go well they may coast into a status similar to Latin America right now...
