At the end of the 18th Century, Poland got fucked up by every countries beside it, aka France's ennemies, once Napoleon got in power he promised to the poles a state which he kind of did with the Duchy of Warsaw.
After Nap got defeated so was the Duchy, a lot of poles came to northern France and started living there, during the 19th and the countless republics, the french states tried to assure poles' independance most of the time but it stopped when the Triple Entente started.
