No, I bought an Asus 75hz 1440p monitor for $200 from Amazon Wearhouse deals. I couldn't be any happier. Only downside is color range but I have a full hd oled laptop so I'm not mad.

I don't know why people still use lame monitors. You can literally pay like $300-$500 and get a pretty beastly projector from 5 years ago. If you have not experienced what it is like to have the computer displayed on the entire side of your wall, then you really don't know what you are missing out on. I get transported to a different fucking dimensions every time I watch a movie, surf the net or play games. I mean, when you compare it to your display, it's not even in the same ballpark. You would have to literally create a display that is 24 feet high across 35 feet to even compare. Yeah, it is THAT good and i'm not even exaggerating.

1080p is perfect for my usage honestly, I'll probably stick with it for many more years.

Parts for projectors and especially the bulbs are stupid money. Unless you intend to buy another used $500 projector every few years. At which point you could have just gotten a really good monitor.

I'm happy with my 65" samsung smart tv. Combined with my WDTV live (yeah I coulda dumped the Live but hey it works and plays all my content fine already before I got the tv) Movies play and look fine on it. Had the TV now for over a year with no problems. Used to have a real old 65" Mitsumi 1080i set but it finally kicked. Thing weighed 200 lbs. Me and a friend sat the thing next to the curb and the next day it was gone.

I'm still using the same bulb on my projector from 2013 and a replacement is only $70. I don't use it as a monitor though because that's fucking retarded. The pixel density for text is an eye sore.

I have been buying projectors for years now, epson, mitsubishi, panasonic, etc and none of them have broken down as far as the dlp chip goes, obviously your millage may vary and you may get unlucky. If you buy well named brands, you don't really have to worry much. I agree completely that the dlp chips are expensive to replace, and sometimes impossible to find replacement and it would be better to buy a new projector, however the bulbs not so much. You can get them for $25-$50 a piece now depending on model. It might be rebuilt, but they work well for the price. I never buy new projectors, always used and they last just as long as the monitors, as far as technology goes whenever you decide to replace it.

Projectors are so cheap now though if you buy used. I just bought a sweet WUXGA projector that I found on ebay for $80 shipped, with burned out bulb, and replaced it for $35. It was initially $8,000 just a couple of years ago. You will find a lot of these deals on feebay.
