You can use a PSU to power up a head unit bu using the 12V on the molex or sata power connectors, then wire speakers or whatever the fuck you want the head unit to push sound through, many people do this to run car subwoofers or speakers at home..

Head units are power hungry though and will chew through your available watts.

the only upgrades i've done are
bluetooth receiver (bluetooth-to-aux)
and
4 port usb charger (needed to have a port to power my dashcam, USB charger for phone, bluetooth headphone, and bluetooth receiver)
lot of fucking cabling but everything is hidden behind the trim.
