I agree it's in some ways inferior to Linux, but it along with Linux is the only good desktop OS on the market. Windows is absolute trash and doesn't have a place outside of Xbox. And any other OS is unfinished or not supported by most hardware and software.

Portage is fucking shit too, it's faster because it lacks features and you have to do more shit than you should (which in turn makes it LESS fast)
