Browser Benchmark Thread

Disable all your extensions before running the test.
Post your browser and if you wish, system specs. My browser is Firefox 57 Beta.

running on Windows 10, i7-6700.

chrome 59, debian stretch, 2.4ghz core 2 duo p8600

Firefox Nightly 58.0a1, running on Windows 10, i5-4690k at 4.6GHz with 16 GB DDR3 at 1800 MHz CL10

This is interesting. Nightly builds are inherently much slower than every other builds because they are compiled with a bunch of debug flags (Source: developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Benchmarking). I guess this result goes on to show the true power of overclocking.

Waterfox

Would be curious to see if it is worse than firefox 56

Download it and benchmark it then because it's not going to say anything if someone else does it since they have different hardware than you

>a CPU from 2017 is only 40% faster than one from 2007
It took literally 10 years for CPUs to double in effective processor speed.
Remember the days when your computer was completely obsolete after 18 months?
Those days are gone.

Keep on shifting the goalposts, soyboy.

And Firefox Nightly for reference.

Or the true power of the improvements Mozilla has been making in recent times. Here's Firefox 56 running on the same system.
I tested Firefox Quantum beta (57) as well, and got the exact same score as I did on 58 nightly.

Self-compiled Chromium: 175
Binary Firefox: 116

Ehh, that's quite the difference, isn't it?

Got 172 on Chromium W10

Nightly builds are not debug builds.
I don't think there's a significant difference in performance between a nightly and a stable build of the same code.

Oneplus 5 (sd835)

Look at the link I posted. It indicates that Nightly builds are in fact slower than other builds with the exact same code base. You're right on that Nightly builds aren't full debug builds, but I've seen a couple of posts from Mozilla engineers confirming that Nightly builds are indeed slightly slower:

iPhone 6S

I got the same result on nightly with and without poisoning.

Chromium/chrome unequivocally BTFO mozilla. How will fossturds ever recover?

Chrome 62, debian testing, i7 4710HQ (gaymer laptop). With extensions enabled, the score is only 140. It's funny how faster vanilla js is compared to all those meme libraries and frameworks.

On one hand, I'm kinda glad my hardware stays useful much longer, but it'd also be great to see some real improvements in performance.
