I mostly use searx but sometimes searx.me is under too much load so I fallback to startpage.

Qwant is honestly a better solution. Followed by searx and then by startpage.

Yacy is a cool concept but not enough stuff is indexed. I bet if someone threw together a guide we could get a bunch of people on Sup Forums scraping sites and making it better though.
