Hey all, finally making the upgrade from my stock AMD cooler straight to a Noctua. Ordered the U9S and it came today, but as I took it out of the box and looked at it, I realised how skinny it was. I decided going for the U9S as I'd have just under 4cm clearance with my side panel and thought this would be better for airflow, but now I'm wondering if I would've been better off just going for the U12S, even if I only have 4mm clearance with the side panel.

In a high ambient temperature environment where my PC lives (main concern right now, I think it's the majority of my cooling problems), would I be better off with the extra clearance space for better airflow, or with the extra height of the U12S but reduced airflow in my case? I haven't had any problems with cooling my GPU or other components so far but I was thinking I might run into that problem with a larger model considering I'm only on stock now with pretty good clearance.

Also can I trust Coolermasters websites measurements? I've never upgraded my stock CPU coolers and 4mm seems like it might be a bit of trouble to fit into my case and I don't want to have to return this cooler I already ordered, then another one, then reorder the cooler I already returned in the first place

Then I read some random forum that was looking for a fix to get a game to load and the mentioned right clicking on C: in explorer, going to properties, error checking

I did that and it went for a few minutes and found some 5,500 'events' or whichever and now my laptop is running factory new without any other changes. I didn't even need a restart

Any reason why file transfers from one HDD to another would be dog slow but only sometimes? I'm talking about transfers of a single large file (tens of GB) and right now it's ~40 MB/s but often it gets below 20 MB/s. Sometimes it'll be fine at over 100 MB/s. I cannot figure out why it's often slow. Things I've looked at:

>source and destination drive both get over 100 MB/s in sequential benchmarks
>resource monitor shows nothing else is using the drives
>the source disk (my "downloads" landing drive) is not fragmented
>both disks show no issues in SMART data
>CPU usage isn't unusual
>both HDDs are plugged into motherboard SATA 3 Gb/s ports
>I have the latest compatible Intel RST driver installed (12.x)
>initiating the same transfer from another PC on the network exhibits the same behaviour

I used to think it was due to the fact that I was transferring to a storage pool but the behaviour is the same if I bypass that completely. I'm tearing my hair out with this one!

My PSU is pic related. As of late when I boot the computer it sometimes makes a shitload of noise, as if there was something loose that the fan keeps hitting/vibrating.
The only way to get it to work properly again is to completely shut down the computer and boot up again, but it doesn't always work and I don't want the room to sound as if there was a jet turbine or spend more time rebooting/opening up the case/cleaning the damn thing again (pretty spotless, cleaned the whole rig with compressed air)

If you use it just for Netflix and similar, then speed and server coverage.
For example I used Expressvpn for a year and of all the US servers - they had a lot, like 50 or so - I had like 2-3 max that actually worked.

I just got a new car with a usb port for music, so I want to keep a usb stick on my keychain, but I obviously can't plug it into the dash while the keys are in. This is the closest thing I can find to what I want, but the cap doesn't connect to a key chain.

I have an asrock board, why the bios is giving me an higher temp for the cpu than i see on monitoring apps on windows, its stupid. I read it's giving me the temps from the socket and i had throttling issues because of that (its fixed).

j/k, for duplicate files in general i use duplicate file finder (doubles.sourceforge.net/) which compares stuff by checksum, so it's ultra-accurate.

for the size information, you can use some kind of visual folder size tool like pic related.

Based on your description, it is very unlikely somebody made this program. It would require a strong AI to guess which game a picture is from. However, check the metadata of the file. It is possible that there is metadata in the files that may give you an idea of which game it's from
